I mean well presented and with good manners and so on. So in my experience, any bar and night club related meetings have always ended dismally. The long lasting relationships with nice Thai girls have always started though 'friends of friends' or flitering out the crap on dating sites. I work with about 15 other faring guys who all have the same experience.
I personally think you should forget about meeting a long lasting gf in any pub/club. Guess that leaves dateinasia as your best bet, like someone else mentioned it's free too. Nothing unpleasant about meeting good looking women around an amazing city like bkk, and finding one who ticks all your boxes. Unless the meeting place is under water.

I think possibly they meant that the anti-venom has to come from South Africa as this is where the snakes originate from. They are not foound in South America. They are far less aggressive than the famed black Mamba and are typically shy. What is more concerning is the fact that Thailand ia absolutely perfect habitat and temperature wise for these snakes and there is a real danger they will now multiply making a previously alien species endemic to Thailand. I also believe any poly valent anti serum produced for Cobra's, which is also a neurotoxic venom can be used while waiting for the mono valent mamba specific anti venom to arrive...from South Africa.
You watch too much kill bill

Learn about Thai culture if you haven't already. 'leb loi' attracts 'leb loi' girls in my experience. Have any reliable friends in bkk to set you up?
I think it's pretty much impossible to live here for an extended period of time and not have a thai gf. A friend of mine came here on a honeymoon with a farang girl and left with a Thai gf.

Prachacheun rd and the surrounding areas, especially near kasemrat hospital are flooded/flooding. There were large puddles this morning that grew into a shallow flood by lunch time. The water appears to be seeping up from the drains and leaking from klong prapa. No stench so it's assumed not mixing with sewerage.
Still can drive through at this stage, but I guess it shows the slow and steady progress.
Has anyone heard large bangs btw? I'm told from an unreliable, paranoid and at times very imaginative source that it's the gov warning of approaching floods.

Yesterday the airport had a record number of flights in a single day since it opened several years ago?? The airlines must be confident in the flood prevention then. Or its just them all leaving.

Any news of Central lad Prao going down to Sutthisan past Thai Air//or direction Ratchadapisek MRT? I live Vipavadee Soi 16.
100% dry, nothing to worry about.
So now that the high tide has been and gone, masses of water are flowing out to sea as we speak? Is that the deal? Are they taking measures to increase the flow?
Self confessed flood non-expert here.

You should be up front and frank at the start so to iron out any taboos. I told my gf that I won't pay any dowrys, family 'sickness', travel or bills that don't have my name on it. Shes never asked me for a penny and to be honest pays pretty much exactly 50% of shared bills. Very rarely gets jealous either. Shes a southerner.
Dont 'pay" for Thai culture if you don't have to.

Doesnt deter me

Can anyone confirm the klong prapa situation? I read the article on the other newspaper and it didn't give much at all???
Anyone live near prachanivet 1 market?
It was leaking seriously about 6 hrs ago.

Lak Si, klong pra pa is on the verge of flooding. The street parallel has water seeping into it and already is about 5-10 in most places. Great fishing for the locals though.
Lap prow, suan rot fai, chatujak all dry as a qantas passenger's wallet.
-
So can it be confirmed that the most dangerous part of the flood situation is over?

I live in Australia but the first thing I have when I get back from Thailand is the good old Mrs Macs meat pie
Hahaha me too. Straight to Coles for a mrs macs pie and farmers union.
I miss codral cold and flu tablets, they get rid of sneezing in minutes with no drowsiness. Nothing that I've found in Thailand does that without the sleepy feeling.

Chatuchak, lad proaw, ratchadaphisek and bang sue still dry and with minimal traffic as of late morning according to a 'kit tueng' check in from the gf.

I'm a bit confused by the sandbag strategy some people are taking. There are 4 sand bags at a a dentist around the corner from me which would do nothing as the door is higher. A bangkok bank has decided to stack a pile on the corner of their property which will at best keep about a square meter of concrete directly under the pile dry???

Flooding today across Bangkok is really only a taste of what is to come when high tides peak 27-31 Oct /via@RichardBarrow
I am afraid that you are right. Where is the Ark of Noah moored?
River city, still making it's way along the bloated c.p. river with 2 of every kind of buffet item causing waves on the hotels.

Can anybody translate yingluck's current speech on tv?
-
Anyone go through asok / prom pong area this evening? They were sending only 1 sky train per 4/5 mins which resulted in a 'people' flood. Nightmarish

I just drove back from pattaya to bkk, looked all normal to me. Same old tail gating vans doing 130 too.
-
Whatever ever happened to that dumb idea to have 1000boats in the river with their motors running to try speed up the flow of water. Did they add more boats or did someone with half a brain finally realize it won't work?
It made for some excellent photos

What is really needed is a first post listing reported locations, with time-stamp next to recent sightings.
To be able to predict my areas coming water I need to scan several pages of sightings and political debates...
(Huay Kwang, close to Vibhavade, dry.)
I agree, news from other sources seems to be so varied.
there's already so much info on Thai visa, much more than most other web sites.
21/10, 10:25pm - ratchada 100% dry, all shops/stalls seem to be normal. No more traffic than normal.

I live in the northern part of Hwaykwang, not far from Ratchada, just north of Suttisan. About an hour ago the neighbors told us that the BMA has said that our neighborhood will be about 1 meter deep in water tomorrow. I didn't see or hear this announcement myself, but everyone is going crazy with tarps and sandbags!
Dry sofar - and I doubt we would be getting more than some 40cm at street level.
But even that would make problems with transportation and affect the local food market.
You're walking dist from me. I just heard from my neighbor there's nothing to worry about. It's dry at the moment, I walked back from the mrt about 45 mins ago and everything is business as usual. Even the 7/11 was stocked as if normal.
-
They have a whole range of kits at the mall bang kapi. The roads aren't very body kit friendly here though.
I don't like the idea of a pod filter in hot weather, especially in bkk traffic. Most stock filter boxes are excellent heat shields. Just takes a little modifying to increase flow.
I put a copied bomex kit on a Nissan and all the drill holes were wrong and took re-doing. Original is much better if you have the cash.

Seems like the idle is having dramas returning to normal after a cold start. That could explain the reason why it does it shortly after half a km or so. Sounds like electrics like the others replies say.

Sydney's only good a few months on the year, Bangkok usually comes up trumps any time of the year. Not to mention the local people.
Sydney locals aren't much to write home about, I am (was) one btw.
Where Is It Flooding ?

Are you near sun towers? I had a meeting there today but they've cancelled claiming a flood 'in progress' is approaching.
