  1. I was visiting the beautiful new Kawasaki showroom (http://www.realmotosports.com/) on Ramkamhaeng road last week and asked the rather attractive English speaking sales girl what their best selling bike is- rather surprised to hear it's the Ninja 250R. Apparently there are still plenty of buyers out there who recognize that the little Ninjette is worth a bit more money than the new Honda CB'r'.

What a joke, there has been 7 Ninja 250s gathering dust here in Pattaya Kawasaki for over a month. There is no demand if they are piling up in the showrooms. :whistling:

  2. I was stopped on Sukhumvit about two weeks ago. It was a sophisticated operation, the authorities were all dressed in nice orange jumpsuits and had arraigned orange cones to make it seem like a construction work zone. It wasn't until the very last second, as they corralled all the motorcycles to an area off the highway, that I became aware that it was a highway police checkpoint. The were professional and asked only for my license and I was on my way. It seemed that most of the people getting busted were Thais, probably for minor offenses, as it was the middle of the day.

  3. Life is cheap here and it shows in the helmet construction, Thai helmets are crap. For one they don't fit and most are made of cheap plastic. I brought two helmets with me from the USA and both are DOT approved, cost more but last much longer. I got two more I just bought off e-bay, full helmets, the are both SNELL and DOT approved.

  4. I think we should start a thread highlighting some of the disgusting unclean areas of Pattaya.

Right off Soi Buakhao there is a dirt lot where consruction equipment and buses park. The lot is strewn with garbage and the buses release their toilet waste which flows right over the street into a drain; I've almost puked crossing it. I'll take some pics and start a new thread tomorrow.

  5. Yoshi's standard mufflers are out for the CBR250R. Quite reasonably priced too actually, in America, unless going for the carbon fibre which is US$200 more.

    US$379.

What's that, about 11,500thb. Be interesting how much above 20,000thb the Thai retailers sell it for.

And for those a bit less clued in, an aftermarket yoshi will usually be better looking than a stock pipe. :D

Hands down winner in the looks department, and stainless at a competitive price. It's going in my suitcase in October!

  6. Sonax Chain Lube.

What do you guys use to lube the chain and where do you buy it? Also how often do you lube it?

Sonax Chain oil spray is available at carrefour and Tesco, inexpensive (110-130 baht?), doesnt stain very much if you wait to ride for 30 minutes. How often depends on how you clean bike. Handwash and no degrease on chain, every couple month or so. Degrease and high pressure, after every or every second wash

Better stuff available but at a price. Check ER6n and Ninja threads here on TV

be aware W40 and similar destroys chains o-rings

Was aware of this, but never saw it in my local carrefour/tesco/big c. Now that Big C Extra have taken over carrefour they've a shelf full of it.

The German and Thai on the back seem to say that it's not for o-rings though.

Black sonax can, picture of a chain and 'kettenspray' - chain spray on the front... on the back '..greift O-Ringe nicht an.' not for o-ring use.

dam_n it!Not for O-rings! Have been using that Black sonax spray on my CBR, throwing it out now, wish I read german. Sonax spray does fling out a lot, won't miss cleaning it off the rear rim. Hope it hasn't screwed up the o-rings.

  7. As they are horribly overpriced (compared to the competition which is mostly not in Jomtien but now at least we have a Tops Daily) on most every item in the store, why shop there at all except for a convenience item? Still looking forward to a real supermarket in Jomtien. Foodmart is a tourist rip off operation for the most part. They are as exploitative as a vendor at a tourist trap selling water for 200 baht; why encourage them with our custom if we don't NEED to?

I'll second this comment. I live right next to this rip-off market and rarely buy anything there. If your expecting customer service than this is the last place to consider in Jomtien,

    Roller Rocker Arm noise?

Guys on an American forum have claimed to have found the rattle that they, and I suffer from at about 5,500rpm.

They say that there's about 1mm of play between the roller rocker arms and the machined surface of the head. As you get moving they skate side to side causing a buzzy, rattly sound. Apparently a spring washer placed between them might help.

What do ye guys think? If I was asked yesterday what roller rocker arms were I would have said they're were what Jimi Hendrix used to play the guitar.

Sad to say i have the same noise, have taken it in to two different dealers and they say the noise is normal. Nevertheless it bugs the shit out of me.

  9. A friend 0f mine received a Cert. of Res. using only his hotel receipt from his guesthouse on Soi Honey, and no visa(only a 30-day visa exemption)Oct/2010. Jometien will give these to anyone, they just want the 200bt. is all....

On the same token a friend of mine was refused a Cert. in the Bangkok office and he had a tourist visa and rent and utility bills galore..

  10. posted by fullcave: "Even so Kawasaki BKK told me there is a minimum two month waiting list for the little Kawasaki as they don't keep any stock (all done by special order). That's impressive..."passifier.gif

That's a load of crap, there was 8 brand new Ninja 250's at Kawasaki Pattaya 2 weeks ago, all for sale. The CBR250 has greatly effected Kawasaki's 250 Ninja sales, and I wouldn't doubt if the price comes down soon on the Ninja. But fullcave is right on one thing, "that's impressive", for the little CBR!
