My cunning plan.... Stay on the marriage extension route this year (March 2026–27), whilst building up the 65k/month transfer history. Then, when I hit March 2027, I'll have 11 months of deposits showing. At that point, request a 60‑day extension to bridge the gap, ensuring I've got the full 12 months logged before switching cleanly to retirement.

Marriage, but not first. The route seems to be 800k for the first extension to be based on retirement (getting away from the marriage extension) and then build up a history of 65k for subsequent extensions?

Can anyone answer (politely)?................ if I go for the 60 day extension, would I be allowed to switch to a one year extension based on retirement.....or would it be best to leave that for next year?

And the UK has split up families with their financial requirements....people who have been married for years.....like me. If you have been married for, say, five years, do you really need to have the same financial requirements imposed when your spouse has no recourse to public funds and the NHS?

Yep....going to switch next year if I'm still here. I could understand, to a degree, the hassle if you are newly weds......but we have been married for 20 years.

Just been told by Al there's an even better option.....30 day extension, only need a TM.7 and passport with valid visa.....mine is valid until march 3!!!!! It seems the 60 day requires all the same documents minus to 400,000B

My mate Al says I can request a seven day extension of my current visa extension to get my application over the line.......anyone heard of this, done this?.....1,900 baht.

We religiously take two copies of everything......and then have to watch as the pre-checkers pull out one copy and put it in the bin in front of us.
