  1. In Chaweng, they have 3 or 4 main clubs. Ark bar on the beach, usually closes around 2am. Green Mango and Sound club usually open later.

If you are partying every day and going on trips etc $950 is unlikely to be a big enough budget. Most full day trips from Samui cost about $40 - $80. Beer in the 7-11 will cost you about $1 a bottle of Thai beer. Sangsom bottle costs about $10.

The prices in bars/clubs for beer are usually 2-4 times this depending on the place. Premium spirits in bars and clubs are usually quite expensive.

You can find lots of bars around chaweng though doing happy hour or special offers, cheap buckets etc.

The problem with partying though is once you get drunk there are a tonne of things to keep spending your money on. So if you want to budget on that you will need to be careful how you spend when you get drunk.

  2. No, but I can recommend Dan Auto in Nathon, next to the Caltex gasoline station on Ring Road from Nathon to Lamai – that use to be the one recommended, and the one many expats and Thais use – I have many years good experience with their service.

Yes Dan Auto is good if you have plenty of money.

In the Maenam branch, not in Nathon...smile.png

How much normally for a standard service?

  3. I am going to finish off the marriage extension on Monday. I have already submitted initial documentation. Should I be organizing this as no one mentioned this requirement in the office or the immigration officer that came to visit. We don't know any police officers or gov officials either.

As per my post if you are entitled to be here then there is no need to worry

The visit by immigration officials was following a phone call after the application was submitted and not arranged at the immigration office. I guess it is a spot check and may not happen to everyone.

Cool thanks for the info. Will let you know how I get on next week.

  4. Any idea how much for an iphone 5c screen? Got quoted 3500 in shops in Tesco which seems excessive considering glass can be purchased online for a few dollars.

The ones online are copies, want original Apple you have to pay.

Any idea how much a genuine apple glass costs for 5c? I would be doubtful whether most local guys are using genuine apple parts.

  5. Ha ha! Evadgib! good thing it's raining! tongue.png

I seem to remember Boyd at MNet, just past Makro and the Russian restaurant on same side of road, (on left headed towards Tesco) ..... will do at reasonable cost.... watch for Orange sign ...wink.png

Ibeats/ Icare repair centre will probably do as well ...but have not heard any reports of their work yet... outside Tesco Chawang, near 3 BB office (ring road side)

  7. Hi,

Me and my girlfriend are getting married next month and want to try get a spouse visa to ireland. I have been living in Thailand now for 10 months. I have read the guidelines for the application, my girlfriend has had no money going into her bank account for the last six months. Does this mean she will not be able to obtain the visa?Would a sponsor letter from my family and a letter to say we have accomadation with my family be sufficient for being able to support herself?

    Thanks for any help
