  1. Just Read this article at http://ct.zdnet.com/clicks?t=690309774-24d8d35816ec3642dff5099d0db0459c-bf&brand=ZDNET&s=5 and thought it was important enough to distribute on this forum as I understand TV uses this redirect as the "goo.gl" address is showing in its mobile phone News notifications. Even if I am wrong the article may prove useful.

A fast-moving Twitter worm is in circulation, using Google’s goo.gl redirection service to push unsuspecting users to a notorious scareware (fake anti-virus) malware campaign.

At 8:45 a.m EST today, this Twitter search shows thousands of Twitter messages continuing to spread the worm.

According to malware hunters tracking the threat, the worm’s redirection chain pushes users to a Web page serving up the “Security Shield” Rogue AV. The page is using obfuscation techniques that include an implementation of RSA cryptography in JavaScript to obfuscate the page code.

Kaspersky Lab malware researcher Nicolas Brulez (see important disclosure) said the original “goo.gl” links in the Twitter messages are redirecting users to different domains with a “m28sx.html” page. That page then redirects to a static domain with a Ukrainian top level address.

As if it was not enough, this domain redirects the user to another IP address which has been linked in the past to fake anti-virus distributions. ”This IP address will then do the final redirection job, which leads to the actual Fake AV site,” Brulez explained.

Once a user’s browser session is redirected to the malicious site, a warning message claims the computer is running suspicious applications and the user is encouraged to run a scan. As usual, the result is that the machine is infected with malicious threats and the scam is to trick the user into downloading a fake disinfection tool.

    Cheers

  2. I have been dealing with Art Thansrikat of Gadgetrend Ph 027192787 www.gadgetrend.com for about 6 years.

He is the asuthorised Garmin agent and has 2 stores in BKK. Best you look at his website and then contact them.

    100% OK

    Cheers

  3. OK I bought an EpsomTX300F with Tanks added in Tucom and it was a dismal failure. Not because of the hardware but the unauthorised and non-original tank installation.

After much agro and "lies" [we nearly came to blows] from the retailer I eventually went to Wattana [authorised Epsom Dealer] in Pattaya Klang and after a few days got everything operating successfully "under warranty".

    My recommendations are

ONLY buy from an authorised dealer [you can check on the net]

    Epson & Canon are great

Use top quality ink - I use "Inkman" it is a bit dearer but seems to last longer

    Hope that helps

Bummer you had such a bad experience. I wonder if you got the odd one since others are reporting working ok. How was your issue resolved? IE did they put in new heads and ink?

Printers as far as I know do not come from the factory with Ink Tanks fitted they are an optional extra and if fitted by an authorised agent you should not have any problems.

My experience and that of many others who reported on the subject some months ago is that the non-agents [read in Pattaya "Tucom sales people"] are not factory trained technicians and do not use genuine hardware or firmware.

My issue was resolved when Wattana replaced the firmware with genuine not pirated/copied and gave the printer a thorough service even though it was only 5 weeks old and failed within 6 days and spent 2 weeks in Tucom. Even during the initial 6 days I was constantly restting it because it would not recognise the tanks and was reporting "ink out" and eventually just stopped completely.

Since then it has operated as new for 8 months now.

  5. Why not start teaching the youngster at schools and uni's the type of head injuries that you get from not wearing a helmet show slide/ photo's of accidents, and try to hit home to them about over loading the passengers / sitting side saddle. And let the police book more students for breaking the law, if they can't pay the fine make the parents pay or take the motocy off them.Let the police book them any day of the week not just certain days when they are short of money.

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that there was a "special" decree that went along the lines that..... in order to improve education in Thailand school students could use motor bikes to get to school but not have to be licenced or wear helmets.... Anyone else know of this?

  6. Don't dispair many "older' periperals wont P&P with WIN7 but.....

  7. Wasn't there anounced by the government that for royal celebrations the bar didn't have to close anymore.

Did you see the announcement? If so where?

Has there ever been an announcement to this effect?

    TIT

  8. For some reason this year, instead of waiting until the evening of the 4th, the cops already brought the notices around several days ago telling the bars that they CAN open this year on December 5th. So party on... :partytime2:

"So sorry... typing error should read CAN NOT so now can I have "tea money"

  9. "By coincidence" .... just got brought a drink at my bar by a Major who came to "let me know" no alcohol after midnight but restaraunts are OK to open!!

He was off to watch Thailand v Malaysia.

I am getting better at reading between the lines

  10. I am confused

My wife just rang the "Big Boss" at Bsnglamung licencing and was told that he had been instructed by BKK Police "... all bars MUST close at midnight Saturday 4/12 and reopen Midnight Sunday 5/12. He understands that the BIB will be out in force and that they are very serious this year.... He is supplying staff to assist in surveilence and that hotel/Bar/restaraunts can not serve alcohol...."

<deleted> !!! I will probably only cater to bona fide guests & "friends"

    Would appreciate any informed responses

    Happy Birthday everyone

Can anyone put me in touch with someone who can supply a service or at least accurate information and costings etc.

  12. Well what a trial trying to watch the Ashes.

If anyone is interested I have tried many avenues.

Heard that TrueVision was going to have a Paid to View but didn't eventuate. A mate has supplied a contact that can connect up out of UK for 50,000Bht plus !!!

After trying many streaming sites I have found that this one seems to be the best [at least today] http://livestreamnow.info/channel1/ and I am showing it in my Pattaya bar

    C'mpm Ozzie C'mon

  13. Hmmmm....

Just went to download Spybot and read this review

"...Unfortunately, the program has the tendency to lock up at times and even during the install process for this review, we encountered several errors. The ambitious feature list and functionality make Spybot a good choice for those in search of a second antispyware program, and recent updates have made it run faster. It still makes errors in flagging spyware that isn't, and overall there are others in the category that do a better job...."

Don't think it is the answer but look forward to Onnut's response.

  14. SPYBOT search & destroy

Spot on, thats the one. cheers.

And to Rabbi, If I sent that to my mates they would think I have gone mad! sorry. good luck

Yep I know but lots of us have been going nuts trying to resolve it

If this "spybot" works it may be the answer to a lot of prayers. I am going to try it as well :jap: :D

    Cheers

  15. Your problem seems to be similar to one that I and lots of other global users have been having intermitantly for a couple of years.

Following is an email I sent to all people on my distribution list last week after having some people report multiple copies of an email I sent out. Not everyone got multiple emails.

Maybe you and anyone else that is interested can complete the data I am seeking and I will include it in the report that I am compiling to see if there is a way of identifying and resolving this issue.

Also maybe it is a virus and this "Bot" AV maybe the only AV that can detect whatever may be causing this frustrating challenge.

I am open to reasonable comments

    Cheers

    Hi everyone

Firstly, an apology if you received multiple copies of the “Roadrunner” email that I sent out late yesterday afternoon and hopefully this will not occur with this one. I will be trying to monitor it as I am sending it to myself as well.

This problem has been plaguing many senders globally, not just me, for a number of years and there does not seem to be an answer as to why. I have attached only 3 of the hundreds of blogs on this subject.

    • It sometimes seems related to the sender [iSP/Relay, location, O/S Hardware (MS – Apple, Linux etc) , Mail program, size and type of attachment & or number of recipients]

    • Recipients

It is not consistent because some recipients get multiple copies and other do not!!! I and a few others reckon it’s a combination of size & # of Recipients plus Recipients email address & filters & Operating System but cannot pin point the cause

None of the major players [Microsoft, Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, Apple, etc] reckon it’s their fault and refer everything back as a “sending” problem.

It doesn’t seem to be geographical as it is happening to senders & receivers all over the planet. I quite often receive multiple copies from personal & commercial senders!!

From my aspect I seem to get the problem when I sent a large .wmv; jpg; tif or .pps attachment/s but I recently purchased a new PC under Windows 7 & Office 2007 yet the problem still occurs.

I have agreed to participate in a simple global survey to try & identify the problem and would appreciate your returning the following questionnaire within a few days.

Did you receive multiple copies of my Roadrunner email? Y/N

If so approximately how many times?

    Over how long a period?

Who is your email provider? (hotmail, yahoo, Gmail, west net etc or a private domain)

    What is your email @suffix – eg., @hotmail.com; @company.au,id; @optusnet.com.au etc ??

Have you received other multiple emails from “other” senders? Y/N

    Generally how many times?

Please list their email @suffixes? (hotmail, yahoo, Gmail, west net etc or a private domains) 1.

    2.

    3.

    4.

    5.

What were the format and size of the attachments, if any 1.

    2.

    3.

    4.

    5.

    Please advise your

    1. Type & Manufacturer of CPU Hardware – PC, Notebook, PDA, I Phone , Blackberry, Samsung, Nokia ?

    2. What Operating System are you using – MSWin XP, Win 7, Android, Nokia Symbian, Apple etc

    3. What email program do you use – MS express, outlook, Gmail, yahoo etc

    4. What antivirus do you use

Your useful comments or considered opinions on this problem

The information gathered will be compiled by me into a report before I send on so no private info will passed on and I agree to maintain your confidentiality.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

  16. I suppose XP has to eventually become obsolete as have all the old Windows O/s's.

I recently puchased a ne PC in LOS loaded with Genuine and activated Win 7. I do not know if it is just my installation or general but I have had the dickes of a time with USB device recognitions and accessibilty. Have downloaded [many times] all new drivers for printers, ext HDD and mobile devices but it seems the only way to sort the access [albeit temporary as within a short period the problems reoccur] is to completely turn off the PC and physically remove the power cord for at least 5 minutes!!

I've looked at many sites and it seems that it it not unusual with Win 7 both 32 & 64 bit installations.

My point is that surely Microsoft should ensure a new O/S is 100% before they stop supporting & supplying an older "working" version.

Will Win 7 go the same way as Vista??

Just interested if others have had the same challenge [or is it just me and a minority of others]as in any case there is no way WE the customer will change Microsoft's policies!!!

    Cheers

  17. Banks are legally obliged to notify HMRC of interest paid, but not amount of capital held. HMRC are aware of interest rates, so can make an educated guess.

Sorry but you are wrong again. Banks are NOT obliged to report interest rate.

Banks tax your interest and pay it for you, They DO NOT report on each account. They pay the tax on interest earned for the year as per your tax number supplied.

Unless tax office contacts the bank, tax office has no way of automatically knowing.

Thanks Kuffki - I was not going to make anymore comments on this matter but I think it is important that if someone posts facts on any forum it MUST be correct as people believe what they read. An opinion is different from stating a fact!!

No more from me on this but I am prepared to accept direct emails but only on a commercial basis as I make a living in this international arena.

    Cheers
