The big problem it seems is that Immigration is actually not supposed to give you a Visa !
That's the job of an Embassy or Consulate abroad !
That's the biggest issue at the moment !
Getting a visa on any normal way is pretty much impossible.
And Immigration is not really the instance to solve this problem !
They can only handle "permissions to stay" ... and not visas !
To understand this is the core to the problem many people have ... and I don't see that the Government WANTS to solve this problem !
If they want to really solve the problem they would just set up a consular service inside Thailand for the time being
that issues Visas ... obviously they don't do this [at least not right now]

Thai Immigration has tried to get people who live in Thailand on an "extension of stay" for a long time now !
With a multiple entry re-entry permit it is what Immigration wants everybody to have because this way they control
the situation !
Multiple entry visas are for people who are not supposed to live in Thailand !
Now they have a situation where they can enforce this quite easily.
It is not about whether you like it or not ... right now there seems to be no other option !!!

But there are Millions of Office Workers who finance their lifestyles with Credit Cards.
And now these people have a huge problem !
Credit Card depth is one of the biggest problems right now.

It's weird that tourists would be allowed to switch to another Visa inside the country and expired Visas based on study have to leave. ?
It is not about the VISA - it is about the "permission to stay" or ENTRY STAMP !!!
As long as your "permission of stay" is not expired you can extend it if you are on a VISA that allows for extension of stay.
... my VISA expired in 2006 but my ENTRY STAMP was extended ever since then !!!-

Immigration does NOT extend VISAS !!!
Immigration extends "permission to stay" which is the ENTRY STAMP in your Passport
you get on arrival with date of entry on the top and date to leave on the bottom !!! [It is the square stamp !]
What they have done is, they have extended the ENTRY STAMP of everybody to the 26.Sep !!!
Just imagine the entry stamp in your passport says on the bottom date: 26.Sep.
They have EXTENDED your permission of stay without you going to the Immigration office
to avoid crowds there. Which makes total sense.
Any NEW extension of stay will always start when the entry stamp ends ! 27.Sept.2020 !
IF you have entered on a valid visa where the permission of stay can be extended to 1 year [ED, B, O]
then you can go to Immigration and apply for extension of stay.
If you entered on a TR visa or without visa [visa exempt] then your stay ends on 26.September as there is no reason to extend any longer
unless you can't leave !
Visa exempt: Entry 30 days + extension 30 days = 60 days in total max.
TR Visa: Entry 60 days + extension 30 days = 90 days in total max.
In both cases [Visa exempt or TR] you have been here for about 6 month !!! Holidays are over.
The big question is what happens to the people who need a new visa or want to go from being tourists to Non Immigrant O or B visa !
this needs to clarified with local Immigration office as every office handles this differently.
Be aware that this seems to be a money making machine for Immigration as normaly you would have to leave Thailand to get a visa !!!
Doors for corruption are wide open !!!
Hope this clarifies how this all actually really works.

With a total of 3,000 cases that's about 3 per hospital [... about 1,000 hospitals in the country]
Surely the fought very hard against what exactly ???
There was nothing to fight because there were no cases !
But surely a good idea to show that working for the Governments has benefits what ever happens !!!

Everywhere ! Including Phangan and Koh Tao.
Chaweng Beach road is in complete lock down and so is Lamai.
Bangrak Chongmon Bophut and Maenam is deserted.

I know people all over the Island and not one of them is telling me it is not dead.
IMO it is perfectly normal for the situation that Samui is dead and will stay empty for at least to the end of the year.
Samui is last to recover because it depends to nearly 100% on tourism and especially foreign tourism.
Thais usually don't like Samui and that's a well known fact for ages so domestic travel is minimal ! [nothing new at all]
I am happy to hear when people's business is doing well, just right now I can't see any.
Samui is in dire straits and it's getting much worse over the next 6 month !
We have not seen anything yet in terms of economic downfall here on the island !!! ... it will be bad, very bad !

Sad for the Island ... people losing their businesses because the Island is dead empty and will be for another 6 month.
Roads are a nightmare right now, people have nothing to eat, a huge garbage problem but Government spends money
on Surveillance !!! Says it all really.
All the new street lights are actually 5G devices !!!
This time they might even turn them on ... not like the old ones who only ran when some (so called) VIP came along.
PS:
Just in case somebody comes up to say the Island is busy: It is not ! Not even in my wildest dreams. EVERYWHERE I look.

You talk about Immigration officers .... but they don't set the rules !

Well, that's actually not true because there is no "amnesty" !
what they did is extending the entry stamp to 30.July for everybody who entered after 28.March !
They did NOTHING about any VISA !!! .... in terms of Visas these terms are pretty important !If you were on a TR visa [a visa for making holidays !] then time is up and holidays are over ! No reason to extend the stamp further.
The same for all visa exempt entry stamps which are not visas at all.
All extensions of stay have no problem anyway. It is the proper way for people who live in Thailand !
90 day reports are pretty irrelevant in this matter as they are just an internal immigration policy.
Multiple entry visas are a problem as border runs are not possible. So maybe here something might happen. [another extension]
But for all people who have expired visas or tourist visas, these people will probably have to leave.

I have no idea why people think that the Thai Government wants foreigners in this country right now.
Especially when the foreigners are not on a proper visa.
Did it ever occur to anybody that maybe the Thai Government is using this situation to do something they tried for the last 6 years ?
Meaning: Getting rid of all foreigners they regard as "bad" ... like in: no proper visa !!!

Many people see their businesses being destroyed by unnecessary Government Actions.
Others see a Financial crisis coming that will have a major impact on their well beings.
The visa situation for the future is pretty unclear.
The tight connection from Thailand to the Chinese is a worry for some.
Some believe there is a Pandemic and are scared of getting sick.
Some have problems with Immigration to extend their visas.
Some worry about their neighbors and friends being ripped of their lives work by a corrupt Government.
Some have issues with ridiculous Government measures that make entirely no sense and harm businesses.
Some simply worry about the future.
Some spend too much time reading fake news and believing everything.
Some cannot stand the fact of having time to actually think about their lives ...
There are many reasons why people would be in a bad mood or worrying right now.
Unless you have the funds to enjoy an empty island it is quite difficult to enjoy anything
while seeing your lives work or stream of income disappearing.
The Thailand we knew will not come back ... any many people have a problem with this.
So it comes to no surprise that some people are thin skinned at the moment.
Not everybody can enjoy a day in the swimming pool or walking the beach all day.
Some actually have quite many things to worry about ... and if they run a business then they might even care about the well being of their staff ...
It is a very dire situation for many people right now. Foreigners and Thais !!!
And quite many of the reasons are very real !!! And troublesome.
Paradise [if Samui can be called this, which I highly doubt] is worth nothing if you can't enjoy it !
Living next to people who have barely anything to survive right now makes it hard to enjoy anything ...
especially when there is not much you can do about it !
People might want to see that there is a huge number of people on this island that are about [or have already] to
lose everything !!! ... makes "paradise" shine in a very different light for people who really care about more than themselves.
