It seems to be going on for just a couple of seconds but every minute or so.

OK - so your non-return valve is OK.  As it's holding pressure for a few minutes it'll be a very slow leak.  (You can open a tap VERY slowly and see how little you need before the pump starts, and that'll give you an idea of the size of leak you're looking for.)  It could also be that your expansion tank is full of water (leaking bladder so no air), but that would typically cause it to cycle quite quickly when a tap is only cracked open.

I always install a separate air reservoir to give a bit more "surge" capacity so it doesn't turn on/off for something a small as a dripping tap, or slowly leaking WC flush tank.  A 2m length of 2" PVC pipe mounted vertically with an isolation, vent, and drain valve connected anywhere on the pump outlet works well, and will extend the pump cycle frequency from minutes to hours (and is easier than chasing out all your piping to try to find a really small leak).

Food dye in the W/C flush tank will often detect a small leak, but some WC's have a small routing direct into the "S" bend (to break the syphon when it flushes), so it may not show in the bowl...  You need to turn off the water to each WC in turn to be sure they're not leaking (lift the ball-cock if there's no external shut-off valve).

  2. How long is it on... how long is it off..?

If on for a few seconds then off for more than a minute or so - yes it suggest a leak.  But if it's on/off/on/off rapidly it suggests a passing NRV at the pump suction.

It's a bigger gamble owning stock right now. I'm amazed at how some friends have seen a recovery in the DOW, which is OBVIOUSLY just propped up by Munchkin and Trump so they can keep their jobs, and they are NOT selling. Why on earth would anyone NOT sell with the greatest Depression just round the corner?

There's so much printing going on (QE) that will keep many of the stock prices high, at least the one's that have a viable business after all of this...  There will almost certainly be a depression, but the markets won't show it as such.  Otherwise Gold (and miners, etc) will prevent a loss of value, and as you say, Bitcoin (plus a few other CCs...)

  4. Lots of discussion on various forums about the benefits of maintaining a healthy level of Vitamin D, and that requires adequate exposure to sunlight.

Not saying it's the be all and end all, but it possibly contributes more here (especially in the rural farming provinces) than the Air Conditioned cities of the more highly developed west... and possibly why locking down hinders rather than helps.

  5. Transferwise offers the best rate/lowest fees.  You need to first set it up using your own sending UK bank details, but you can pay out to any named account.  A regular transfer usually arrives the next receiving bank working day.

Once you're set up and made one regular transfer, you should open a "borderless" account for GBP & THB.  Then anyone can pay GBP in to YOUR GBP account (free from most? UK banks), you can convert it at will (@0.58% less than MMR at the time), and when you send it to your/anyone's Thai account (fee 59 bt) it usually arrives in seconds.

    YMMV..

  6. You need to look at this over a complete lifetime cycle.

30k per month in costs for 4-5 years BEFORE you get any income.  Then income of perhaps 1-2k per tree once they're fully mature (although probably only 1/2 that for the first few seasons) - (based on personal & friends experience, unless you're selling direct to the public) .. so maybe 300-600k/year (25-60k per month) and there'll still be similar ongoing expenses (plus. harvesting) when they are mature.

How long will they keep producing for?  15-20 years, perhaps a little longer if they're well taken care of, and then you'll need the whole 4-5 years with nothing all over again.

Based on this you might clear c. 2 MM over a 20-25 year cycle, but if you use a DCF at say 5%, it drops to less than 1/2MM... not a lot for 25 years of hard work...!!

And if you do get infested with stag-beetles (larvae), you could loose the lot in just a few years.

  7. worldometers data indicated T/L has tested just under 100,500 (on the 14th), but they don't appear to update it daily.  (previous was 72,000 from the 7th to the 13th, and 25k before that).... so maybe 4,000 tests per day on average recently.

Cases increased from 2,258 to 2,613 from the 7th to the 14th.  355 cases, so just over 1.2% showing positive, which is way below the global average.

....if you can believe the reported numbers...!

I really understand anyone keeping 800000 in a thai bank and you cant even touch 400000 of it ever. And gaining nothing. In my case i only need to have 400000 or show every 12 months 40000 transfering from uk bank to a thai bank. In your case it must be 65000 a mouth. Using transferwise is simpleand very cheap and get a good rate at the same time.  And if you have not got a bank accountin your country you can open one with transferwise and have your pension or your income paid into it plus you get dd card. And then every month transferyour 65000 into your thai bank accountand they only charge about £10 to transfer. And then you take all your 800000 out and do what ever you want with it

Assuming you meant to say "I DONT really understand...."

There is no NEED to bring 65k per month into T/L - as long as you keep the 8/400k for the required durations.

Personally I manage to live to a very acceptable standard on around half of that monthly figure, although I could easily afford to spend more, but I have no NEED to.   As yet I am too young to have any regular pension payments, and am currently running down my investment savings, although the current impact of CV on my investments does mean I am very reluctant to cash them in at these depressed prices.  So I will cut my cloth accordingly and have tightened my belt a little.  (Zero alcohol and limited places to spend it have obviously helped somewhat...!)

In my case it is very clear, they even attached a small piece of paper in my passport as a reminder that I had to bring my updated passbook when I would come to report for the 90 days, both happening to be at the same date.

I had that same piece of paper stapled into my PP by Rayong I/O when I did my annual extension in Feb.  I told them that I did my 90-day reports on-line and they said not to worry then..  They would simply check at my next annual extension in 2021.

The fact is this: The Corona Virus Sars-CoV2 is and always will be linked to China and the Wuhan province as to its starting point and origination......nothing more to say.

Whilst I agree with what you've actually written (or at least my understanding of your statement), there is currently no proof that the virus originated there.

There are many contributors to this thread repeatedly whinging about China being responsible for the virus, but irrespective of whether you believe this to be the case or otherwise, my suggestion to boycott their goods allows everyone the opportunity to make an immediate personal contribution to punish them directly, albeit in a small way.

And celebrate when Syria, Yemen, Lybia and so on are bombed to rubble by our American and European friends. China is a dictatorship and no one can deny it, but believing the China is  the evil of the world.... oh no

What has this comment got to do with boycotting Chinese goods.?

If you believe China is responsible for Covid, and/or for the wider problems with the west's economies due to their competitiveness then anyone can make an individual effort.

If you're happy to keep supporting the Chinese economy at this time then so be it, dictatorship or not, but I fail to understand what the West's interference in the Middle East has to do with it...

  12. Everybody who believes that China are responsible, or even anyone who want to simply punish them for whatever reason can do so buy stopping buying Chinese sourced/made goods.

No more i-phones, clones, or computers, no more consumer goods, and (for those of us in T/L) no more vegetables that are grown there.

Nearly everything we buy can be sourced or substituted from other places, although they will almost certainly be more expensive, and will probably contain components or materials that originated from China, so you'll need to do a little research before handing over your hard earned cash.

But with a little bit of effort every one of us CAN do our bit to punish them.....

As of April 8, the total number of confirmed cases in the country stood at 2369 -- 1,451 are under treatment of whom 23 are in a critical condition -- 888 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been 30 deaths.

This statement suggests to me that EVERYONE who tests positive ("confirmed cases"), symptomatic or otherwise, is placed in a medical facility, from which they mostly (97%) recover.

  14. My father used to swear by soluble aspirin (Dispirin in the UK).  Just place a pill between the affected tooth and your lips and let it gradually dissolve.  It's good for the pain but don't do it too much as it can "burn" the gums...

Aspirin is better than para, since it works by deadening the nerve cells.  Para only affects the pain receptors in your brain.  As I understand it - but I'm no medical doctor....

I am suprised that Australia and UK do not make the Top 15.

I guess there are many reasons why those demographics have moved on to better options to leave whats left to places where Thailand is still considered relatively clean, safe and exotic.

Many of the tourist from these (and other European countries) would have arrived before X-mas/NY and have stayed 2-3 months (or perhaps even longer now....) but wouldn't be counted as "Arrivals" in Jan.
