Many Thai ladies (if not all) are up for a shag on the side. If they want to, you ain't going to stop them. Thai culture places importance on 'face', or in out western terms, you can do whatever you like as long as nobody else finds out about it. Fidelity is a western christioan idea and has little value out here.

Conclusion

Forget about a lifetime of marriage with fidelity, they will have affairs, so you have affairs. It's all about fun, if you can't cope with that better you just go home.

Thailand is fine, I lived there for 1 year with out a problem, the problem is the filth from all over the world meeting in 1 place, stay away from known sleazy places.

I am planning a holiday there in December with my Thai girlfriend :< scary stuff.

Starting/buying a bar in Pattaya, is indeed the most stupid thing to do. Unfortunatly, most people realise that when theyr savings are all down the drain.

Compare beerprices in girly bars to other country's, Pattaya is probably the cheapest place on earth!

I always read here something like Thai are bad and foreigners are good, there are a lot of thai very rich more than anyone can think , there are a lot of foreigner who ocme here only for sex,drugs and drinking and many times they hit ladies and fight. Maybe this man is a professional thief in his country and is normal for him to do that , maybe he just try to get back what think he bought , but in the wrong form. I really don't like to read everytime you foreigners are good and all others are bad, why you stay here ?

I read the forum everyday but i don't like to write because almost all of you are stupid and always answer like " thai ladies are bad " , " she only cheat and get his money"... Why you don't look inside yourself on why you are here ? is better then your country ? If yes is also better if you respect the place where you live now and respect the person. If not why you don't go back to your country ?

Remember one thing , you go to ATM or Bank to take money and the thai people go to bank to deposit your money, who is clever now ?

Sometimes instead then speak and offend a population is better shut up...

C'mon, as a foreigner stealing a secondhands car....While every policemen, car seller knows the brand, colour and license plate of the car...It take's just hours before they caught him! There must be more 2 this story.

Its seems there is cctv everywhere in Pattaya exept the most crowed place...WS!

Watch out for the bouncers from the go-go bar on Beach road next to soi 8! I have seen a vicious attack on a foreigner with a wooden stick.

I read more bad then good things about Cebu Pacific! Flights get cancelled all the time, only 60% money refunds....etc

Well let's say around 1000 foreigners a year ( 3 a day), die in The Kingdom.

This is not new. This is gooing on for years allready.

Sukhumvit, Tops, Foodland, Pantip plaza, Robinson....You name it, theyr looking for lonely white farangs.

The last time theyr tried to talk with me in Tops, when i didn't answer them, they called me a rascist.

Maybe better to start a topic, where all the scams are taking place.

My experience:

Suk soi 2 = Africans trying to make contact/scam.

Pantip plaza = same

Robinsons Sukhumvit = same

Chatuchak market = Filipina's (2) who try to scam you

In front off World trade center(ZEN)= Older man (i think from Malaysia)

WS is a 500 m strip, 2000 people across that street in bars and disco's looks alot.

If you want to know that business is realy picking up, you better ask the hotels managers around town...

And now its justing waiting for the next tourist who get scamt and (hopefully) go public with it.

Even this news gooing arround the world, i never believe that those guys( police!!) gonna end theyr lucrative business!

Funny that, because I took a copy for repair and he just wouldn't look at it. That same said said watch repair centre is good for genuine watches though.

To be honest I would recommend one of the shops right at the end of Soi Buckhaw on the corner of Pattaya Klang. They can put you right for 100 baht.

Yes, the shops in the beginning from soi Buakow and Pattaya klang, are very recommended.

Change clothing, thats not unusual on an airport, when you come from 30°C and you travel to a country where its only 15°C.

The people they can see on the pictures whats happening realy for 100%, well they have extremely good eyes.

I looked again and I don't see anything conclusive that a theft occurred,

and LESS that this same British couple are in the video.

And even less again that 8,000 lbs sterling is warrented for ANYTHING.

Anyone who thinks that this video is faked is deluding themselves. She looks younger than the photograph on page 1 post #1 because the camera angle hides her double chin. Notice how the whole incident is so quick, she is in and out in just seconds, he, however stays in the shop and appears to distract the staff at the end of the video.

It seems a lot of people here haven't clicked on the KP letter and read the .pdf file. The security followed him to a toilet where he got rid of the wallet in a toilet bin.

The couple contacted the press in the U.K. because they paid 8,000 GBP in bribes and felt cheated. That is a different matter.

The Thai Police probably couldn't prosecute, and have a case because;

1. The Video footage is not conclusive.

2. The wallet was not discovered 'on' their persons (it was disgarded).

However they could have fingerprinted the wallet (too much effort).

I am not saying that scams do not happen in KP duty free especially the 'free gift' placed in the plastic bag trick. But this case seems conclusive. The couple were thieves and ended up paying the price. 8,000 GBP for a 121 GBP wallet.

Just deserts IMHO.

I'm also no newbie to Pattaya.

Just arrived, and it's certainly quieter than I've ever seen it. However, there have been too many bars for a lot of years now, and they need to get back to a number where those still operating are again profitable. I just feel sorry for the girls, who are the ones suffering.

In some act of insanity, the plod have driven the freelancers off the beach walk, which is now pretty deserted at night. I just hope the plod soon realise that no customers in the bars/ on the beach translates to no tea money for them! At the present, I doubt any bar is making enough to be handing over the usual wads of cash.

As for the new Central- deserted. The Avenues is hanging on by a thread. Went to the movies there. 3 customers! That wouldn't even pay for the electricity.

Away from family tourist areas which are pretty dead, Pattaya is booming. Soi Buakaow is busy as ever. IMO, the mongers/ long term expats have read the writing on the wall, and moved to where they are more welcome.

When i walk there at night, i can count the customers in the bars on 1 hand!

I hope they clean place well, especially those go-go bars, the offel smell that comes out that places when you walk by them.

Tourism is like fashion, its come's and it go's.

For years in Europe, people went on holiday to Spain, France. Now alot of those people go to Turkey.

The last decade Thailand whas a hype. Now many travellers want to explore other regions.

Combined with higher prices,strong Bath,polutted beaches, trafficjams, worldwide crisis, airport closure etc...

To get those big planes full (472 seats), they 'hopefully' gonna lower the prices!
