I thought MS wanted to tie the OS license to the computer in the event you sold said PC you would have to buy a new copy for new PC. They feel the OS license belongs to the hardware once installed not the person. Thats why you must reactivate with live person at MS if you change major components.

Ever the optimist, I'm going to hope that a low level of ThaiVisa sophistication is inversely proportional to the time and effort that has been spent to create and manage a decent pool hall.
Specifically hoping that:
1) the tables are the right size and the felt is in good condition,
2) there is a good selection of cues, properly tipped,
3) there are plenty of attentive and well demeanored rack girls (who also happen to know the rules of pool/9-ball),
4) music is good and not too loud,
5) the air conditioner is on and set low enough so that the minimal exertion of playing pool doesn't cause one to break out in a sweat,
6) and what the heck, how about an air filter to give the non-smokers a break.
ditto....

Rather than a job change have you ever thought of talking to your current company about being based in Bangkok. It could be done as full time employee or on contract basis. I have been doing just that for the last several years for California company.
Make sure you look at visa options before you decide anything.

Safety deposit box at your bank might be an idea.

I was just thinking. You picked a very bad time to travel Thailand highways because they will be jammed big time. Also because of the coming holiday you might have to pay a few hundred more but not sure.

I have not taken one from new airport but many times from the old. Should be able to bargain with a meter taxi for somewhere between 1800-2000. Most recently, several months ago, I took one from Sukhumvit Soi 75 in Bangkok to 30 KM north of Korat and it was 1800. Mafia taxi will be more like 3000.
Several years ago I bargained for 1600 from old airport to same location north of Korat with meter taxi and he ran the meter just to see if he made a good deal or not. Meter came to 1590. This same trip over many years was always a bargain price of 1600-1800 from old airport and I never had a problem finding a taxi.
I usually gave them 100-200 baht tip if they keep the speed under 120 kmph

Sounds like you might have a virus in your MBR (Master Boot Record).

Mini's have been disappearing over the last couple years. You might take a look at the Shuttle XPC if you want something about the size of a shoe box thats maybe an inch or two higher. I've had one approaching 5 years with no problems and that includes cooling issues.

Any chance of finding one anywhere is BKK?
I have my reasons for wanting one so don't suggest an entire new Core 2 Duo system.

He was right under current regulations because you would exceed the 90 in 180 day rule for VOA if he gave you another 30 day visa.

Not sure I've seen shop that does what you ask for but you might try auto or furniture upholstery shop. Their machines should be up for the task. Another option, and maybe better, might be a luggage repair shop.

Small one on Soi 3 between Sukumvit and Petchburi road. Its on opposite side of road from Grace Hotel but futher down Soi 3 toward Petchburi road after you go over khlong bridge. Its open in morning not sure about later.

I say switch to Open Office and give Microsoft the boot.

You do not give up your UK license when you get a Thai license but you will need a one year visa. If you plan on living here best get the license because it will be less of a problem if your in an accident. Insurance companies tend not to pay if you don''t have one.
Should be no problem buying and registering car if you have visa.

I have a slightly different issue but not one to complain about. I have the monthly 100hr plan and for a week or more they have been taking only 1 minute for every hour on line from my 100hr prepaid plan. They have not been taking any of my prepaid phone credits.

Your embassy should have also given you a letter that you take to immigration along with your old and new passport and they will transfer visa to new passport.
Technically your old passport has been canceled and your new one has no visa so draw your own conclusion.

Why is airport authority still so powerless?
They are just security and cannot write traffic tickets. If the police would start writing tickets it would stop. They did it on the access roads to put an end to cars stopping and waiting on the side of roadway.

If you do a little research you will find that Lite-On makes drives for some of the big name companies. I currently have one and its been going for 2 years with no problems.

You said the dealer installed lots of free programs. Take a look at number of running processes you have because that might be the slow down.

I cannot say thanks enough for the support and wealth of information Sheryl has provided me in dealing with my wife's current medical problems.
The world is a much better place because of her and people like her.

Soi 6 should keep them busy during the day.

Why waste the time on a bus. Take taxi via On Nut road and it should be less than 200 baht.

Wish all hotel reviews were like Lucifer's post.
I agree with all that was said.

I don't think there is a best notebook. I don't think any brand is better than others because all have put out lemons from time to time.
Sit down and make a list of everything you would like in one then go buy.

I've been using it exclusively with no complaints for about a month but still have MS Office installed. The new computer I plan on building in the next month or two will only have Open Office installed.
