You & me both (I'm Jan 2)
And us on the 6th...already in talks with my credit card company to see what can be claimed back, and so far they will refund all flights, but not sure where we stand with the hotel booking, pre departure pcr test and AXA Thailand insurance. I also have a UK based policy but they will not refund if we cancel because of a quarantine extension. Fingers crossed they keep the T&G for double vaccinated and boosted individuals.

Obviously why the UK has gone back to PCR testing.
My brother and his wife were £380 for their PCR tests in the UK, I was 2700 baht in Bangkok.
Some just cannot see past that xenophobic perception.
Did that include a meal at Salt Bae's? We just paid £160 for both of ours.

I submitted all documents for my wife and I this morning. Within 60 seconds of submitting, we received an email with our QR code. Unbelievably fast turnaround. Very impressed and was very straightforward albeit you have all the necessary documents in order.

I'm currently looking into this myself as I have high blood pressure and cholesterol levels. All under control with 1 tablet for each. Insureandgo have a policy which will cover you albeit you declare any existing conditions.

I’m pleased to say that after emailing the home office on Friday, we received a reply today with an accompanying letter granting my wife the FLR extension.

Hi guys, we submitted my wife's first FLR(m) application here in the UK on 06/02/2021 . We knew there would be a backlog of applications due to COVID but we certainly didn't expect to be waiting this long for a decision (almost 19 weeks), and we're still waiting.
Did anyone else apply around the same time and are you still waiting for your decision? Does anyone know how much longer we could expect to wait?

If joint names on Council Tax, Water and Electric & Gas bills are classed as SFR's, I'm now thinking its a yes.
Until my wife's work as a sole trader (she set up during the pandemic, and has been closed due to lockdown for 2 months out of the 3 that she's been trading) allows her to earn enough money to contribute then I pay the main bills. She has started paying for small items such as food from the market, car parking, fuel costs.
Any thoughts guys as I need to submit the application today?

Hi everyone, there's a question when completing the online form for a FLR visa that asks about shared financial responsibilities.
"Do you and your partner have any shared financial responsibilities?" For example, council tax, utility bills, mortgage or rent, childcare costs, loan repayments.
Whilst both our names appear on the council tax statements and some of the utility bills, I pay the bill, so would the answer be no?

My wife's visa also expires in Feb 2021 and I'm just in the final throws of collating all documents and filling in the online application form myself. Just as bigyin did, I included her parents, son and sisters for this question.

I eventually managed to answer my own question. Here's a really helpful link for anyone going through the same process...

Hi guys, I haven't quite got to the end of the application online for my wife's first FLR visa, but it states that it will tell you how to submit your documents once you've submitted. In advance and to help with preparation in compiling all supporting evidence, does anyone who has recently applied, know whether this is a "scan and send" process, and if so, do you also have to provide hardcopy evidence, as we did when we applied for the settlement visa?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Tony, my above post was prior to your response in the other running thread, which I've only just seen as I've just returned from holiday. You've answered my query in that post. Thanks again.

Gents, this is sort of an extension of a previous post so I'll try to simplify this. Sorry if it sounds repetitive. I may have overcomplicated the previous post. Getting stressed enough as it is.
Does anyone know whether money earned through salary and dividends is taken into consideration post previous full financial year when providing supporting documents for an FLR(M) visa?
Requirement for application: Full previous financial years account (2019/2020) GOT. Ongoing evidence of employment for 2020/2021 GOT but total funds do not meet £18,600. Not sure if this is taken into consideration? Unfortunately, UKVI can't tell me either.
It states in the Appendix FM section 1.7 category F that the Director or employee of a ltd company can use income from the last full financial year to meet the financial requirement. Sort of gives me the impression that this is the de facto financial requirement that has to be met, but who knows?

So I spoke with 3 different staff members today from the UKVI and none of them were able to or allowed to give me a definitive answer.
Still unclear whether my salary for 2020/2021, which will be lower than £18,600 and will be used as ongoing evidence will be taken into consideration as a Director or employee of a specified limited company in the UK as I'm not taking any dividends. My previous full financial year is more than 4 times the financial requirement.
Any thoughts guys?

Thanks Tony M.
Whilst there will be a loss of income for me up to the 31st August and possibly for the rest of this year, the supporting financial evidence as a LTD company has to be based on the most recent and complete financial year, which in our case would be 2019/2020. On that basis, I'm assuming we will be OK.
Like you say, beyond the end of this month needs to be updated and clarified. I think I'll give UKVI a call this week.

We will be applying for my wife's FLR early Jan 2021. The financial evidence that will be provided with the application will be based on the most recent and complete financial year which would be 2019/2020. I have no issues with the financial year in question and more than meet the criteria.
However, I am an employee of my own LTD company and have been furloughed since the end of March 2020. I only take a minimal salary of £916 per month and the government has been paying 80% of this through the CJRS.
Part of the online application for the FLR visa asks for "Evidence of ongoing employment as a director of the company or of ongoing dividend income from the company at the date of application for Mr xxxx xxxx at xxxxxxxx Ltd".
As I am not taking dividends for the financial year 2020/2021 and am simply taking a salary, and can provide evidence via payslips, will being furloughed this year go against us in any way for the forthcoming visa application?

Thanks again durhamboy.
I spoke with UKVI this morning...got through to them extremely quick which was a surprise, and they confirmed what you have already said regarding the 28 days before 03/02/21. Not that I doubted you but was it good to hear it from the horses mouth.
"Family" is what I have also selected on the online form.

Thanks durhamboy. That all makes sense.
I'm not to concerned about the cost of the NHS surcharge going up so would prefer to do this the right way. We don't want to lose 4 months and would like to keep things flowing towards an ILR application in 2023.
To answer your question, it does state on her BRP 03/02/21. Does that mean we should be applying 28 days prior to 03/02/21?
Going back to one of the unanswered questions if anyone can help, it also asks what type of visa, leave to enter or remain or other permission do you have to be in the UK? She has leave to enter but under what category below would that be classified as?
The options are...
- Visit
- Work
- Study
- Family
- EEA residence permit or card
- Settlement
- Other
Would it be family or settlement?

Hi all,
Apologies for the long post. They tend to be, the harder the visa applications get.
I'm currently putting together the supporting documents for my wife's (UK) FLR visa application and will be submitting the application in early October.
I need some clarity from those that have been through the process and would appreciate any help.
Firstly, regarding correspondence addressed jointly. We currently have Council Tax and Water Bills addressed to both of us, but none of my other utility bill providers i.e Electric and Gas, Internet will allow joint names on a bill. Only the bill payers name can appear on the bill. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what could be set up in a joint name other than a joint bank account?
What we have so far and I'm hoping this will be enough, is...
- Mr and Mrs Guemlum - 2 items in joint names (Council Tax, Water Bill)
- Mr Guemlum - 8 items in my name (Mortgage, Bank x 2, EE, Hospital, GP. Vodafone, House Insurance,
- Mrs Guemlum - 8 items in her name (GP, 2 separate hospitals, EE, Bank, DVLA, College, Department of work and pensions).
When filling in the online application form, it asks the following questions...
- What is the start date of your current visa or leave to remain? Is this date from the first day she arrived in the UK which in this case would be 07/05/2018?
- What is the end date of your current visa or leave to remain? Would this be 2 years and 6 months from 07/05/2018 so in this case it would be 07/11/2020?
I believe I can submit the application a minimum of 28 days before the expiry date, so all being that the above dates are correct, that would be 10/10/2020?
It also asks what type of visa, leave to enter or remain or other permission do you have to be in the UK?
The options are...
- Visit
- Work
- Study
- Family
- EEA residence permit or card
- Settlement
- Other
It says you can find out this information on the document which shows you are allowed to be in the UK
but it doesn't say any of these in the letter that was issued by UK Visas & Immigration to my wife. The letter states “Dear xxxx xxxx, Your application for a UK visa has been successful. This means that when you arrive in the UK you will have permission to be in the UK (known as leave to enter) as PARTNER (STANDARD) from 03 May 2018 to 03 Feb 2021)”.
So would it be family or settlement? and if her visa expires on 07/11/2020 as stated above, why does it say she has "leave to enter" until 03/02/21?
Apologies if any of the answers to the above questions are obvious to some. They're not to us.
Regards

I don't see the UK on that list but I wouldn't be surprised if it does very soon.
We're going to Thailand next month and in preparation, I've called 111 and my local hospital. Neither are offering tests for COVID-19 unless you are showing genuine symptoms, however Thai Immigration are more than happy to charge you 7500 baht per person for a test upon arrival.

My wife will be applying for her first FLR visa later in the year, and was wondering if anyone had any experience of the A2 English test? We will be visiting Thailand in April and would like her to take this test whilst there. Her English is still at a basic level which is why we're going for A2 and not B1.

Ours arrived within a few seconds of submitting. Now we’re looking to cancel the whole thing if quarantine is reintroduced.
