  1. I am planning to do eyelid surgery very soon and I wanted to know if anyone has a good recommendation to this work.

It appears that Dr. Somboon Chaisrisawadisuk, Associate Dean of Chiang Mai University Faculty of Medicine and Dr. Prayote, FACS, who received his plastic surgery training (and fellowship) in the US and is at Chiang Mai Ram Hospital, are among the best qualified.

Don't go by "testamonials", check their educational background and all credentials.

Check out Dr. Somboon's CV here.

  2. Here are some interesting facts that I accumulated: The Nutrasweet used in Diet Coke isn't actually sweet. It is a chemical that makes your brain think that what it's tasting is sweet.

    I like this part.

  3. like many of you who probably run i find the treadmill soul destroying.....are there any early risers out there who fancy a running partner 3-4 days a week?

As we discussed in the pm, I also would like a morning running partner, and I would message you when I got back.

But it seems you have gotten yourself banned.

If you have registered a new account on TV...

    lets get running.

  4. I'll field this question folks :o

Yanhee carries a fairly wide variety of styles (cohesive and saline) manufactured by American giant Allergan.

They also carry Mc Ghan style implants (though considerably more expensive).

Yanhee (and every other hospital MMR works with) has a 100% guarantee on their work.

This is obviously on a case by case basis and covers any surgeon errors.

Follow the butterfly for more information

  5. Hi,

My wife is interested by a breast reduction procedure.

Can anybody who had it done in Bangkok tell us about their surgeon / hospital, costs and how many nights in hospital?

    Thanks

Bumrungrad & BMC have talented surgeons.

Yanhee is slightly cheaper with consistent results.

3 nights stay is the norm.

Prices start at about $2400 USD at some clinics around Bangkok,

and can go over $4500 at places like Samitivej.

  6. I can understand the higher charges for tourists, the cost of maintaining many of these places to a Farang standard is too high to be funded by your average Thai entry price, but for working foreigners it should be no different.

The driving icence gets you most things, but make sure you're smiling and speak Thai when you show it and ask for the Thai price. Sometimes I've had to show the work permit and once or twice been rejected for that as well.

A well written post until you started making statements like this...." I am a farang living in Thailand, but I am different to a tourist I want special treatment... :o ...absolute bollex..

My Thai is cr*p and have been in plenty of places on a Thai DL at the Thai price, so the ability to speak Thai has FA to do with it...

    Thanks for the info gents.

However, since I normally don't carry my work permit with me when I am visiting a park, I suppose I will pay whatever rate they ask for (and still smile)

Soutpeel - You are dam_n right I want special treatment. I am completely different than a tourist. I run a business in Thailand that brings in a regular stream of foreign capital. I live here year round and have done so for the past 7 years. And I have gotten the short end of the stick on the double pricing system for the entire time. The reason I don't mind and would happily pay the inflated prices for the rest of my life is that Thailand has given so, so, so much back. It is just nice to get a break and a little recognition every now and again.

  7. Why do all people think that when a girl wants a boob job, its to show off for guys? Im considering getting it done.. but it is for myself. I have AA, i dont fit any bra's and so many tops or dresses dont fit me because i have nothing to hold it up. Im not really skinny either, i got curvy hips (not fat ) people say.. oh why dont you try push up bras?? YEAH that would be great... if i fit them in the first place!!!

I am in australia, and i dont know if i should get them done here, or in thailand. My mum says dont do it in thailand beccause i wont get the after care. But i will save so much money getting them done in thailand. I have been rsearching for 2 years now, im sick of it! i have money saved up for my 'boob fund' haha

I couldn't agree more!! I had mine done and let me tell you it was the BEST thing I ever did FOR MYSELF. I had an A cup as well and saved up to get surgery done in Thailand. I chose Dr. Pat at Tokai clinic and I feel he did an amazing job. They feel natural, they look natural and I finally feel in proportion.

Just to get an idea here...

How has your life changed now that you have had BA? What is the BEST part about it...

    - Your chest is heavier requiring your back to compensate and possibly facing lower back problems when you are older (rare).

    - They get in the way when you exercise

    - You will need to pay more to have revision work in 10-15 years

Or is the BEST part... All the boys look at you now?

Lets faces facts here folks. Aesthetic surgery is just that. Aesthetic surgery! It is completely (with some exceptions) self centered.

I do not disagree with cosmetic surgery, In fact I am one of the happy people that promote cosmetic/plastic surgery on a corporate level, but lets not kid ourselves.

I say surgery for everyone!! Check out MMR's profile and website to see how!

  8. Hi, what is the best gym in the Thonglor/Ekkamai area?

Had a look at ChiroFit on Thonglor near Soi 15. Looks very clean, very professional equipment, not crowded - but extremely expensive.

Heard that the new California Wow between Sukhumvit Soi 61 and 63 is rather cheap, around 1,000 Baht/month, but my concern is that it's very noisy and overcrowded.

    What's your experience?

I have been a member for 4 years at Fitness First Soi 39. Was great initially, but suddenly they started to become greedy. Profits First: membership fee up, service level down. Totally fed up :o and will quit. Now looking for an alternative.

    Let me know your opinion.

    Thanks.

You should definitely check out The Racquet Club Gym on Suk. 49 (Can go via Thong Lo 15 or 17) There is a website somewhere

I second that. The Soi Klang Club is great (joined on a recommendation from a TV user as well). Its a clean 'no bs' place to stay in shape. And if that isn't enough, there is quite a challenging climbing wall too.

  9. Hi,

does anyone know a dentist for porcelain (or ceramic) veneers, preferrably from own experience? I am looking for a skilled dentist who can fit perfect, natural looking, translucent veneers. Apparently, one can get very fine work done in Bkk, but also crap is possible if you don't know the right place.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions,

    shakun

    Rama 9 Hospital dental dept.

Any good dentist will insist on xrays, and repair, before applying veneers. That's a good check to look out for.

Mommysboy is right on the money there.

Avoid small clinics unless directly recommended.

Large hospitals are safe (congruent with the west).

If you are cost conscious, stay away from Piyavate and BNH.

  10. Does anyone know anything about silicone implants in Thailand? How much they are.. what er good places... if there are packages with hotels... anyone have experience with such an operation?

    Thanks.

We have come across clinics charging as low as 40 000THB. Starts at around 2600USD for reputable hospital. Depending on size and facility used. Yanhee, BHG, or Bumrungrad are the places to go. MMR is coming close to 100 clients for BA in BKK... so, yes, some experience.

  11. There is a Bangkok forum for Bangkok related stuff.

Granted, I was talking about Bangkok.

But, I'm pretty sure it is celebrated throughout Thailand.

Perhaps someone has a good spot in *insert your city here* to share.

  12. I am having knee problems and from past experience believe it is the joints breaking down.

Is it safe to arrange surgery in bkk rather than return to uk, arthroscopy or knee replacement.

Also any ideas about prices for these procedures.

    Many thanks.

Orthopedic surgery certainly is safe in Bkk.

BNH, Piyavate, Samitivej, and Bumrungrad would be good places to start.

    Costs:

    Total Knee - b300 000-b450 000

    ACL - b150 000-b225 000

Regardless of where you went (even Samitivej), it would be

more cost effective than having it performed in the UK.

  13. Anyone order their own supplement supplies? From where?

I am skeptical as well. I bring vitamins/supplements from

home whenever I am running low.

They are compact enough to bring enough with you while

fitting into a carry on piece of luggage.

  14. I recently was in Canada (Vancouver) and applied for a 1 year Non-B visa with multiple entries.

What I was given was a Non-B three month single entry (I need to leave the country again for 2 weeks).

When asked, I was told that this can be sorted out at the Thai immigration office (In Thailand).

Any others have this issue? Solution?
