  1. I have just moved to Thailand with my Thai wife and we are looking to own our own business. We would like to get into the hotel or restaurant business in Phuket or some other tourist area. I have seen some places that are offering leases for sale but I am not exactly sure what that means. What do you buy if you are buying the lease to a business? Also, if we were to buy a business, would we need to set up our own company before actually making the transaction? We will be consulting with an attorney in the near future, but just curious if anyone has any advice.

Yes, unless a company is part of the sale, you will need to set up a company to control the business.

  2. Oh yes, there isnt a Canadian abroad anywhere on this planet we call earth without several Maple Leaf flags tattoo'd on their backpack, holdall, laptop, etc etc.... Canadians are the without doubt the no.1 flag wavers on the planet.

It's simply a defensive silent gesture that announces to all observers "I'm not an American!" :o

hel_l, I even have a small Canadian flag on the wall in my bedroom.

I suppose we are a bit of a flag waving bunch. Oh well, it could be a lot worse...

  3. I am bringing computer components (video card, hard drive, etc.) from Canada to Thailand.

Will I have any issues installing these (assuming they are the correct parts) components into my desktop from Thailand.

I figured there wouldn't be any problems, but just checking.

  4. California gets a lot of bad press here. I have a membership there and mostly enjoy it. the 'pushy' salespeople can be annoying, but are really not that bad. Every time they get going, a firm and polite 'get lost' usually sorts it out.

Only biggie.... It gets dam_n busy starting around 4pm.

  5. I'm looking for a good doctor to perform some cosmetic eyelid surgery. I've been to Yanhee and they bragged about how many they do each year, but no one was willing to show me photos before and after. Hmmmm.... why is that?

Strange, when I first started working with Yanhee, I was given a large amount of before/after pictures of various surgeries (with rights to be used as promotional tools). I find this very odd, as my clients have been given photographic examples directly from Yanhee (on several occasions).

Scarring from blepharoplasty (especially lower) is minimal. Incisions are extremely small, and well masked by the natural curve of the eyelid.

As far as recommendations, Yanhee or Bumrungrad for the best 'all around' service and competency of physicians.

Private clinics are hit and miss... I have seen phenominal work come out of some and real crap from others. Research, research, research.

    Cheers,

    JL

  6. I remember some time ago when someone had made a posting regarding forclosure properties here in Bangkok. After some searching I was unable to find it. Does anyone have any information (websites, publications, resources, etc.) that would point me towards this type of property listing.

    Regards

  7. Thanks alot, guys. i subscribed for UBC less than 6 months ago.I"m not sure if it's digital, but I think it is. Shall I go to the electronic store and get myself a HDMI cable and connect it from the UBC receiver to the tv? I"m sorry if I ask stupid questions, but I'm not a gadget junkie. I just wanted to have good viewing pleasure.thanks again.

Easy way to tell if you are digital is to check your channels. The analog and digital channel numbers are different. I am not sure where you are going to plug the hdmi cable into. My Topfield box certainly does not have and hdmi out on the back of it.
