The cheap cynicism of so many of the posts here astonishes and saddens me.

The owner of the land whose access has been blocked, Utaiwan Van-Zandt, is a Thai citizen. There is nothing in the info provided to suggest that the owners of the Crest site are farangs.

brucegoiners is correct. i have used the new app and it is just terrific. Much quicker and easier to use than the mobile site. Bravo!

For last few days there have been transparent jelly like squarish objects (about 1 cm square) in the sea at Patong Beach. Some of them are chained together and have a black dot in the center. Others are without the dot and are unattached. There are oodles of them in the sea, especially today (21 Dec 13). They don't sting. As you walk into the sea you can feel them and there are also many floating higher up. It is not an unpleasant feeling. But we are all puzzled about them. I have been coming to beach for more than 15 years and have never seen or felt these before. We are guessing they are eggs of some sort. But what?
Does anyone know what these things are?

The fine should be 10000 Baht.

I have never had a problem not using a tourist visa and just coming in with a 30 day. Done this many times at S and also Phuket.
-
Yes, you can do this. I have done it many times. But-as the others have said-you must do it before the six month expiration of the visa. And it probably is better to leave no late rthan the expiration of the first permit to stay.

Astonishingly, there is no coverage if this event on Nation or Bangkok Post websites or here on Thai Forum. I would have thought this would be of great significance to people in Thailand.
I have posted this here because I cannot post to the international news section.

I have been living with my partner here in Patong for 12 years. We met at a boy bar in Paradise complex. This is a perfectly reasonable way to meet loving and wonderful young guys. Why not?
Many have done this and are quite happy together.

There is gay beach in front of La Flora Hotel on beach road in Patong. Gay tourists as well a permanent and semi-permanent gay residents show up there.

There is no place "open" inside the terminal. The smoking rooms are only usable in the international arrivals area (before you go through immigration and customs). The smoking rooms in the domestic departure area no longer are open.
Therefore, if you want to smoke after you arrive you must either do it in the international arrivals smoking rooms before you go through immigration.
Or exit the terminal and do it outside.

In an article in the Bangkok Post on 27 February 2012, the provincial health office chief of Chonburi province is quoted as saying that horseshoe crab roe is poisonous during the breeding season (late January until June). This is usually eaten in yam khai maengda. It can be found in the southern provinces and i have eaten it many times in breeding season with no ill effects.
Does anyone know if this claim is well founded? Seems dubious to me. I have put this in the health forum. Perhaps it belongs in the Thai food forum.

Surely there must be some in Bangkok Chinatown. There is in every other Chinatown around the world.

If you have multiple entry on your first 60 day visa, you'll have no problem when you come back.

All Thai people call it "Soi Tan."

Same problem from here in America. Can someone call 1333 and ask "what gives?".
I spoke with customer service and the guy admitted the server was down and had no idea when it would be fixed. You can call +6626455555.

My address is Phangmueng sai kor , but that was the Road at my end , but it wasn't thru all the way, so that may be it . I've seen that name on google maps
and it doesn't sound like what the person, whom I know spoke ,when I inquired the name of him, he's a American who works on a Thai newspaper, speaks & reads & writes Thai......
I still think it should be called Jongceylon Blvd. Don't you?
Why not ?
All my Thai friends call it (or at least the southern end) Soi Tan

It's a Dusky Leaf Monkey
Thank you!

Ok, seriously now. Going by the white around the eyes she looks like a young spider monkey.
aren't spider monkeys new world animals? My friend says he has seen several other just like her which implies they are endemic.

I fail completely to see what good this change is supposed to bring. Thank God they changed the direction of Ruamjai, it was madness (and entirely predictable). Making Sawartdirak one way is entirely unnecessary and is good for the petrol dealers but not for anyone else. Maybe this is good for people at the North end of town but for this of us coming from and going back south it is counterproductive.

Phuket airport bus route to be extended to Kata

I am pretty sure that's the idea: You will be able to go to Kata and Karon from Patong and come back (or vice versa). We in Patong have been waiting decades for this.
