  1. I think that people should wait for details before jumping to conclusions. The government has a habit of making announcements, then doing nothing, or something else entirely.

But it would be a total disaster if they phase out the old system. Lots of old folk depend on it, have built their lives here, and it would be inhumane to kick them all out and expect them to settle elsewhere.

You are, without doubt, the very heart of human kindness. You want to remember,

There but for the grace of God...etc.

There is a French saying that fits you beautifuly 'Oni sois qui mali pence' Evil be to he who evil thinks'I only hope that one day you find yourself in the same predicament as this poor bugger, and you have to leave your wife(if you could ever find one that would put up with your attitude)and family to fend for themselves.

Have you never made a mistake,in your whole miserable life?

    To Henry 1975.

The people here have given you some very good advice.I truly wish you luck, you've buggered it up a bit,but i wish you get out of it without too many problems.

    Good luck.

Well said. I can't understand why people are so cruel to those here who are down on their luck.

Walking out on your family because you can't meet the visa requirements is something that many people wouldn't be able to do.

I hope that the OP gets an officer who is having a good day and lets him off the hook.

  3. Things seem to have gone full circle. In the late eighties and early nineties, before Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia opened up, Penang was where everyone went for visas. I used to take the train there with friends and have a great time. There was an Indian guy who used to visit the guesthouses and (for a modest fee) would take completed visa application forms & passports to the Consulate and bring back your passport with a visa the next day. It was a good service, and meant that all I had to do was hang around Penang.

The only wildcard (at that time) was whether the Consulate would issue a single or double entry.

Do you seriously think that permanently removing CO2 from the atmosphere is a good thing?   You don't seem to know that life on earth could not exist without CO2.

Well said. Plants need CO2 to survive, and without plants there wouldn't be anything to eat. Beer bubbles are made from CO2 as well, and we definitely wouldn't want to drink flat lager :-)

If only this were true. 97% of scientists now agree that the earth is warming, 84% believe that humans are contributing to it and 74% believe this is substantiated by scientific evidence. It's tough to deny at this point.

97%/84%/74% of scientists eh? These figures are typical of nonsense phoney climate change statistics that are constantly rammed down  our throats by the looney left, wind turbine share holders, and other assorted tree hugging zealots. Let's look at this scientifically: Please first define what 'scientist' means, then list the names of all 'scientists', and finally indicate the names of all the 'scientists' that make up the 97%/84%/74%.

The climate change industry had a good run, lecturing us and blighting the countryside with daft wind turbines that kill birds and don't generate electricity reliably. Times are changing, and people don't believe in all that nonsense anymore.

Something is wrong with his documentation or he would be getting a passport.

You can find posts in this topic where people got regular passports.

Ubonjoe is right. As soon as you get a Thai certificate of naturalisation, confirming your Thai citizenship, you can apply for a regular Thai ID card and passport. I did it, and so have others on this forum.

Your wife is soft in the head if you are paying the bills. Either get the meter relocated closer to your property, or put an isolation switch in and lock it off while away. I wouldn't care if they steal from the electricity company, but I would  not be paying for thieves' power.

Connect the thieves' power lines to the terminals of a stun gun.

When fingerprinting was suggested only a short time back, TV members were outraged, but this Is evidence as to why It would be advantageous, and necessary.

True, and fingerprinting is already used in some other countries. Malaysia and the USA, for example. The UK also takes biometric information for visa applicants. Not sure why people get so upset about it. The automatic gates at the airport already fingerprint all the Thais when they arrive and depart.

It would solve the problem once and for all. You can change your name but not your fingerprints.
