  2. One other question. If i get a 60 day tourist visa for Indo in March...for entry & stay 60 days in May....but in April i travel to Bali, Indo for 1 week...can i request that the 60 visa be used only for May??

I know that in Thailand, immigration would just laugh & say too bad.

My problem is that after Bali, i will be in KL & it seems from this thread that KL is only giving 30 day tourist visa's?? Can anyone confirm or negate this??

    Cheers,

Just found the answer "according to their website"...which is ALWAYS 100% CORRECT RIGHT?!???

  3. Before I go to the Embassy tomorrow, is this the right application form?

    visa_form_02.pdf

Btw, maybe I am reading with my nose, but I can't find anything about single entry tourist visa for 2 months on the website.

    http://www.kbri-bangkok.com/about_embassy/...tml#servicevisa

Hope to leave this Friday, so fingers crossed...

Looking at this link, the embassy of Indo doesn't say anywhere that a 60 day tourist visa is even available??!!

Has there been a change since the older posts in this thread?

  4. As I am livining in Bali I have been to the Bangkok Indonesian embassy many times and can tell you that:

You need US $ for the visa

    You need a return ticket

If your passport is ok and you have the 2 photos you will get a visa for 2 months, no problem.

Has anyone else confirmed that you MUST HAVE an exiting Indo flight ticket?? what if one wants to travel outbound by ferry...eg. to Singapore??

  5. When i flew Bali to KL in Feb...they were announcing that STARTING March...all carry-ons must meet the guidelines...not sure if it was announced from KL > Penang leg too coz i connected onto that flight the same day:

    ....very simply....1 bag @ 7kgs!!

But i flew from KL > BKK on Feb 28th & there was no announcement??

So perhaps it was only for flights coming out of Bali?? Anyone can confirm this??

In general, i've been told by AA staff that we can carry-on 1 bag "that fits in the carry-on cage thing"....PLUS one laptop bag....for ladies, one extra handbag type bag...so in total carry-on = 2 bags.

The ONLY other place where AA has checked my carry-on weight was flying London > KL....but not in reverse???

  6. If your sun is a white ball, then the image is burned out. Anytime you have the white out problem, it means that the exposure needs to be lowered.

In particular with digital cameras, burn outs are tragic as there's no way to get any details out from it even with photoshop.

Use your exposure compensation setting & take the same picture with a lower & lower Exposure Compensation value (lowest being -2) until you get it what you are looking for....no more burned out spots.

This method is the same for ALL burn out situations. Just lower the exposure compensation to a suitable value for the same composition.

  7. Yup...i would agree with Phet....

Probably the big disadvantage is that they take up more space on the computer...esp. for the trigger finger happy types...

But certainly there are lots of advantages to it. It certainly does provide a sort of virtual ability to zoom more into the image.

The other thing is that most people who only send images to the web really can probably manage with 2-3 MegaPixels ...In actual fact, most computer/laptop screens are at 1024x768 (= 786432 square pixels) in resolution which is less than 1 Mega Pixel, so image an image which doesn't fit the entire screen.

    1 Mega Pixel = 1,000,000 square pixels.

Where you need the MPxls the most is if you want to output to large prints.

But these, as with many things can be a continuous discussion. Really it mostly depends on the individual & how they intend to use their photos....

  8. "most photo labs/xerox shops have laminating machines...mostly for the small ID card sizes...but also A4 size.."

    Hi fabianfred,

Actually, i think what yo're referring to is just the general laminating for paper. Yes, it does work but is not really designed for photo archiving. Plus it leaves a very reflective surface....& prob won't keep the color of hte print for too much longer than a couple years.

Krup Ron actually leaves a new 'grainy' layer over the photo paper....& is a process designed specifically for photo archiving.

  9. Does anyone know of any shops in Bangkok who do "krup ron"....hot laminates/seal for photo paper? ...I might be incorrect w/ the spelling....does anyone also know what is the term in English?

I konw of IQ Labs...but their prices are sky high!!

This is used as a protective layer over photo prints to protect it against fingerprints, UV, and color fading. It also adds a really nice grain over the paper.

There are many photo & framing shops that do "krup yen"...cold laminates, but this protects the colors of the print only about 5-10 years (so i've been told) instead of 10-20 years for KrupRon.

  10. So I'm back with my 60 days tourist visa. Was told that now there is no problem of getting tourist visas one by one all the time, so everybody is welcome

    Hi XCaSQz,

Wondering if you would mind sharing w/ us how many 60 day tourists visa's you've recieved so far from Penang Consulate? Coz i've had several from there already & warnings too.

I'm thinking to go back there (or else KL - unpreferably) to do a 60 Day Tourist but last time i was there was:

    - Jul 2008 > Non B 90 day visa

    - Oct 2007 > 60 day tourist visa

....yes got one despite stamp below...but w/ verbal warning this time

    - Jul 2007 > 60 day tourist visa

+ Remark: Holder has had 3 TV's already & they "may not accept application next time" stamp

    - 2 more 60 day tourist visa successively from Penang

  11. Hi everyone,

I think it's jsut that time of year but its a pain all the same....My home apartments are being attacked by ants! Red ones & tiny ones (mot men) mostly...The apartment complex is 4 apartments on 2 floors just above ground level. 4 units in total.

Not only are they attacking left out food in a matter of minutes, but the last  straw is that they are homing in (excuse the pun) on the bathroom towels. The towels are in the same place year round, & I've had this happen once b4 a few months ago....now its starting to happen again!! Red ants are congrugating on my towels en mass!!

Does anyone have the same experiences in the last few weeks....my guess is that its the weather or reproduction cycles or soemthing like that...but does anyone have any ideas how to tame or get rid of them?

    Frustrated....

  12. I need to get some very large prints of digital images. I am hoping for widths of more than 40inches wide & preferably lengths that are sorta unlimited as it will come off a role (or at least 6-12 feet long).

I will also be doing more reason size prints that are around 20 inches wide too.

Does anyone konw of any place in Bangkok that would produce exhibition quality prints of this size?

IQlabs & ProImage on DinDaeng have been suggested to me so far but i know that at least IQlabs are very pricey. Anyone worked w/ either of these labs & have any comments or other suggestions?

    ----------------

I'm also looking for decent quality framing shops for the same photos that wil

l be printed above. Any suggestions?

  13. Well, I had mentioned that I got a stamp "...may not get another" on my 3rd TV, got a verbal warning not to go back to Penang when i got a 4th TV there too..At least when i went to immigration in BKK, they didn't fuss about extending it another 30 days ....Now however, i'll be tossed back into the ringer coz w/ the stamp, i'm not sure if any of the Thai consulates will be issuing another TV for me.

Good to know that at least they'll give us a 30day so we can come back, packup & move decently.
