It's not for retirement, it's marriage extension, but thanks for the advice Dr J.

I've always used a hospital for my medical. I tell them that it's for my WP and they then tick certain boxes on a printed list. I've always done the blood test. Both Bangkok and Pathum Thani have required that the certificate comes from a hospital and the blood test completed. That's my experience, I think you may have been lucky so far.
I use Sai Mai hospital. Med cert is around 600 baht.

I need to extend my Non Imm 'O' visa on Friday. Where do I go? Government complex at Chaeng Watanna or Meang Ton Thani?
Thanks in advance.

I went to my local government hospital today, to register for the vaccine.
I'm over 60 and already registered at the hospital. I have a yellow tabien baan and pink card. I was told I would get the vaccine on 10th August. Quite a wait.

Can I make a suggestion to the OP.
Go to your embassy in Bangkok. Ask to make a statutory declaration. On it, state all your qualifications, and where you were educated, plus any work experience you may have. Complete the declaration by saying that in your opinion, Your combination of qualifications and work experience is the equivalent of a modern day B.A.
It may be worth a try.
Show this to the school and see what they say. The rest of the paperwork for a WP is quite straightforward.

I feel I was quite lucky. They accepted the Thai translation of my name from my Thai marriage cert. The translation of my parents names was done by the HR dept at work (Not certified). They were happy with that.
My parents names aren't on my Thai marriage cert.

To the OPP. After you get your Yellow Tabien Baan, stay for another 30 minutes and get your Pink Card. It's easy to get and useful to have.

Many years ago, I remember going to an 'after wedding ceremony' party in a small village just outside Roi-et. There was a stage set up, along with the usual oversized PA system, Morlam band and dancers. The family had also hired security (Armed with shotguns ).
Now, I like a good Morlam concert but my senses told me an early return home was in order. We stayed for an hour or so and then made our excuses just as things started getting lively near the stage.
We found out the next day that the <deleted> hit the fan just after we left and some kid had his arm hacked off with a machete.
More wedding cake anyone?

Bent Coppers Crossing the Line of Duty. A 3 part series about police corruption in the MET during the early 70's. There's some great video of early 70's London in this. All 3 episodes are on youtube, or for DL on TVCUK. Real life Sweeny.

My own personal reason is that I have chosen to make Thailand my home. My wife is Thai. Everything I have is in Thailand and there is little chance of me ever returning to the UK. I don't want the yearly hassle of visa extensions work permits etc.
I also believe I will get more of a sense of 'belonging' to the country.
These are my reasons. I'm sure others have theirs.

I've not heard of this before. Ubon Joe? Do you have any information on this special visa?
I'm on a Non Imm 'O' extended on the basis of marriage.

Insurance was up for renewal on my 1 yr old MG truck. I asked the wife to phone around and get quotes.
She got 3 quotes, all around 18,000 baht for 1st class.
I went online and filled out the Roojai online form. 8,400 baht. Very happy with that. The online inspection was all very efficient. We paid a small amount upfront and pay the rest 10 months interest free.
I don't have any experience of making a claim with them but I haven't heard any negative reports.

Thanks for your advice problemfarang.
The Thai language part could be tricky for me. My Thai is pretty basic. I can say a few phrases but I couldn't hold a conversation beyond a couple of sentences. Reading and writing? Nothing.
As I understand it, the Language part isn't important, and you don't have to sing the songs if you are married to a Thai. Is this correct?

Thanks Ubon.
I was sure I'd read something on TV about it, but couldn't find it in the search.

Hi.
I've decided to apply to become a Thai citizen. Tomorrow morning, I intend going to the Royal Thai Police HQ to get the checklist of requirements.
My wife is Thai, so I don't need advice on Permanent Residence. I'm just looking for any tips from people married to a Thai, that have gained citizenship in the past, or who are going through the process at the moment.
I've done a search on here but nothing really came up.

They are called "khets", not "amphurs".
Quite right, I stand corrected.

There are many amphurs in Bangkok. You need to go to the one for the area that you live in.

I don;t have a pink id card or a yellow book. They want I first go to the Embassy for a legalised copy of my passport and than let it translate and legalize again at foreign affairs in Bangkok.. for me it is not worth making all these costs and spend the time for doing it. I went several times to the Amphur and always the same .. They even are surprised I have a tax number and live here already for 16 years .. and everytime they tell me why don't you have a pink card.. and I answer the same.. give me one and they come up again with the legalized copies and translations...So I stopped asking
I was always told the same as you at the Amphur. I was then told that the reason they want a translated copy of your passport is so they can get your name translated into Thai. If you are married and have a marriage certificate your Thai name is on that. I took that with me to the amphur and got both the yellow TB and Pink ID, FOC and both on the same day.

Using Salary for Visa Extension
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
I've just got back from a stressful day at Chaeng Watanna.
For the past 4 years I've been extending my Non Imm 'O' marriage visa by using my salary.
Today I was told that I can't use my salary because I work in another province !!!
I live in Don Mueang (Bangkok) and my place of work is Rangsit (Pathum Thani). Surely this can't be right?
