  1. Just wondering what types of watersports are available on Chewang beach and maybe some rough prices especially the jet ski's.

    Thanks in advance

    Dean.

there are many jet ski outlets all thai owned range 500-700b samui ocean sports rent canoes and wind surfers resonable prices hes outside chaweng regent on the beach he can give you the low down on the best outlets for jet ski and water sking his name is kunta been around 12 or so years

Good to hear the jet ski's are cheap as these are what im gonna want to go on the most.

thats for about 15-20 minutes not so cheap if you want them by the hour. check the jet ski over well before you sign, including the sides below the water line. seen many farangs just sign jump on without checking then find they have to pay for some damage that has already been paid for a few dozen times. if you do not pay they will bring the police who will take you to your hotel and get the money. after you have gone the cops then get there share. seen it happen a few times and it makes me sick so take care.

the jet ski place in front of the chaweng gardens are very good check the jet ski over with you sign the forms with you to agree no damage . they will give you some advice on how to ride and where not to go ie where the rocks are but if you do damage sure you will pay .if you ever been on a jet ski before you will know 15-20 mins is about all your bum can take any way just be careful and you will be fine ............

  2. " Is it just me spending too long on my PC, and constantly checking up on it?"

I'd be a poor judge of it as I'm up at 2 am prowling the forum for anything fun myself. Ahhhh, to feel like a loser in CM ! But not really. Just a geek.

If I don't plug in a few times a day I feel cut off from my Western world too much. A shame on one hand...but that's another topic.

So....off to another topic, but bed by 3 for sure, I promise!

I promised myself to do the same(3 o'clock)well i hope!!!!

you could always go out .. lots of wifi spots out there then maybe eat or meet some people .......

    Murder on Valentine's Day

Regarding the case of the Thai woman murdered at the Wave Inn on Sukhumvit Road on Valentine's Day. The woman, Nongnuch Sripie, was repeatedly stabbed and her throat was cut.

From clear footage of the security camera tape and evidence from eyewitnesses, the offender was identified as Suriya Wongmittae, aged 21, boyfriend of the deceased.

Thirteen days later Police apprehended the offender at Nakhon Nayok Province.

He confessed to Police that the deceased had a new boyfriend and wanted to stop the relationship with him.

The victim was called to the Wave Inn on Sukhumvit Road to negotiate a settlement for separation but parties could not compromise.

In a fit of temper he hit the woman and she retaliated by stabbing him once in his stomach. He then wrestled the knife from her and repeatedly stabbed her and finally slit her throat; he then fled the scene.

The offender has been charged with first degree murder.

happens all over the world sad fact of life went through my mind for a minute but i got over it

  4. There is some info about this in some Swedish newspapers today (Sorry, in Swedish only):

    http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/nyheter/stor...1011638,00.html

    http://www.expressen.se/index.jsp?a=898054

He is suspected of smuggling large amount of narcotics and illegal substances to Sweden since 2002. When the police made the arrest in his luxury house he took out a fake police badge and said "I'm a Swedish colleague working under cover!". They found drugs, laptops, mobile phones and 4 bank books with 600,000 SEK (~ $60,000).

I usually take what I read in newspapers with a grain of salt, but based on what I've read so far it seems quite far fetched that the guy is a humanitarian sending medicine to "poor" Swedish people.

    LMAO!

if this guy is as sick as people are saying he would have been in and out of hospitals and met lots of doctors surely he would have known it was ileagal and tried to get the relevent permits etc or maybe he did and thought what the hel_l ... unfortunatly the jails in thailand are like hel_l

good luck to him either way sounds like hes going to need it........

  5. Hi to all! I am new on the site, so forgive me if my questioning sounds routine. I plan to retire in June and am considering a move to Chiang Mai. Would a retirement income of 50,000 US be sufficient to live very well there? Someone told me that it is expensive to live there. My girl wants to return to Thailand to live, but wants to live in Chiang Mai. She is from Kon Kaen.

chiangmai is one of the cheaper citys to live 50000 grand you can live anywhere unless your girl like toys then be careful :o

  6. Went to Lipa Noi today. When I came back to Cheweng the police were outside their station on the twisty mountain section past Lamai, I believe stopping bikes for no helmet. I can't be definate of this fact 'cause they saw me from a distance and looked away to hassle the thai man they had just stopped. I was going fairly fast and was wearing a hat, which may have looked like a helmet from that distance, so chose to pay them as little attention as possible and just keep on going unless I really had to do otherwise.

Now I know we should all wear a helmet etc etc but I have simply posted this to advise anyone who goes that way without wearing one to think about taking it with them, and maybe putting in on before you cross that section, not to have an argument about whether one should be worn. I think we have covered that one a few times

Must have some bills that need paying :o

    RAZZ

read this toooo late i think im paying for his sangsom tonight :D

It's my daughter's birthday this week and we're having a small party, I want to decorate the garden with balloons, streamers and such and also give some party favours like bubbles and small toys. Tesco is pretty rubbish when it comes to party supplies, I've got some balloons there, but that's about it.

Any ideas on where I can get hold of these things?

    TIA!

depending on when it is you could go to bkk in china town they have every thing there 1st and last flight not that exspensive after all yourdaughter will love it and make you feel good for doing it ........ :o

  9. An older woman went up to the bar in a quiet, rural club.

She gestured alluringly to the bartender, who approached her immediately. She seductively signaled that he should bring his face closer to hers.

As he did, she gently caressed his full beard.

"Are you the manager?" she asked, softly stroking his face with both hands.

    "Actually, no," he replied.

"Can you get him for me? I need to speak to him," she said, running her hands beyond his beard and into his hair.

"I'm afraid I can't," breathed the bartender. "Is there anything I can do?"

"Yes. I need for you to give him a message," she continued, running her forefinger across the bartender's lip and slyly popping a couple of her fingers into his mouth and allowing him to suck them gently.

"What should I tell him?" the bartender managed to say.

"Tell him," she whispered, "There's no toilet paper, hand soap or paper towels in the ladies room."

    sounds like most bars lamai

    :o

  10. Glad to see this thread has finally gotten a "serious" debate on the best for the Islands future. And thanx, SBK for your views and input here.

A positive debate is positive and a good start....but what is the farang community going to do about it..? :D

My view (I know...I know...it's easy talking at a distance):

    1. Unite and have a combined Thai/Farang delegation talk to the Mayors' office about the 'Keep Samui clean' action

    2. At the same maybe discuss the possibility of how to register the many thousands of non-registered Thai people on Samui/Phangan/Tao.

That could result in a seperate Municipality (seperated from the mainlands' Surat Thani government where all the taxes are going).

I'm sure the Mayor would be VERY HAPPY to hear about such an action! :o

    LaoPo

if all the bars and restaurants estate agents etc got all thier staff not registred in samui which would be almost all staff as not many westerners like to employ samuians (you find it very hard to sack them brothers uncles cousins etc) that would get the required numbers needed to get province status and then maybe the infrastruture could be brought maybe not the 21st century europe but a lot futher along than we are now .. i employ around 40 thais and will start today asking all of them to register (small bonus maybe needed) but in the long run it will send more tourist home with happier stories of our island and more might even come to spend there hard earned money because believe it or not thats what many of us who work want....... :D

  11. garbage problems, etc. What can WE do?

    1. start with the schools and children; the Thai parents/adults are spoiled forever.

    2. talk to the 'heads' of the school and encourage the kids to clean up the neigbourhood, once a week; for instance on fridays or saturdays.

    3. Provide them with big, large bags to collect the rubbish. Ask the head of schools what to do next.

    4. Have stickers printed 'Keep Samui clean' (with a smilie) in Thai & English and let the children put them up everywhere

    5. Maybe have some reward-system installed for the cleanest neighbourhood. Contest style.

    6. Start talking to the 'Mayors' office in Nathon and try to encourage them.

    7. The children will feel happy after a while and proud to have helped to clean Samui....and....they will tell their parents; maybe, just maybe it helps a little.

    Cheers

    LaoPo

How true, but the garbage heap has grown out of hand, I guess "they'll" throw it into the sea in the end.

I think Lao Po's suggestions have merit and show a basic understanding of how to get things done. Where do you suggest the garbage goes if you have no other ideas than dump it in the sea? (which, I do not believe actually happens that often. Most of the floating garbage you see comes from the mainland and the large fishing boats.)

So, what are your suggestions then? Personally, I think its better to not criticise at all if you can't come up with your own solutions.

it would be a start to stop the thais ripping open the black bags looking tin cans and the like

and maybe it would help the dustman to rid us of are rubbish quicker :o

  12. Hi guys thank you all soooo much for your advise I really do mean it I taken it all on & will pm some of all very soon.

If any more advise will be great.

I do know we will never be rich from doing this out in Samui & I will never will be in UK but UK sucks,

so that is why we want the move to Samui as well its more about the life style & making money so we are not skint & can enjoy our self's & live a better life than this urban one in uk

One other question do you know how much thease bars do make????

Also many people keep saying to me samui is ona down hill slide is this true...

    cheers again guys

I GUESS time will tell, but I would'nt bank on it.

ive been in samui for 12 years and was told the same as you dont do it i now run one of the most successful bars in samui so if you think you can make it work go for it no matter what people say your going to do want you want to do most people who give negative advice 9 times out of 10 have already failed good luck in what ever you decide :o
