I read a book the other day about how the greys were here in the 20th Century, and did deals with govts, and we allowed them to abduct humans in exchange for technology. But now they've buggered off to some other planets, cos they're having trouble perpetuating their race.

Riza, It is only the Govt paid debunkers who claim no conclusive evidence of UFOs/aliens. I have 2 excellent sightings, one over France at 25,000ft, (we were at 32,000ft), a formation of 5, witnessed by all 4 of us in the cockpit of the East African Airways Super VC10. in 1971, and one at Nairobi Airport. We carried a UFO report form in our nav. boxes for each flight, due to the many airline pilots sightings. No sightings in Thailand. Go to www.theyfly.com for a reality check. I'm open to most things including your sightings and you do ask a good question. But when I read the following, supposedly from an alien, I begin to wonder who's kidding who...

I also listened to David Icke's Brixton speech. 6 hours. Some of it was amazing knowledge but as soon as he talks about aliens and shapeshifters, I have to say, it isn't credible. Some lady was having sex and suddenly the man starts turning into a lizard? David has been taken in and is being used, in my opinion, which probably explains why they haven't killed him yet. He also doesn't look like any guru I know. Beer gut, nose-picking (from stress?) Knowledgeable to be sure but an enlightened man?

The Chiang Mai weather report is that there is big storm brewing, with high winds causing havoc....not so unusual, but no doubt linked to this weather system.

Yes this is a big soccer-ball weekend and certain landlords in Chiang Mai will have been expecting a beano - the four big clubs are playing against each other. Manu to win 2-1? A Ronaldo dive and penalty? That should be banned before alcohol sales - watch Arsenal play the beautiful game a couple hours later, that's my advice, and the beer should be back a-flowing by then.

Anyone who even remotely believes this will happen has a lot more serious problems than the baht exchange rate. Regardless of what's happening in the USA or elsewhere, one would think that a military coup and over 2000 people killed in the unstable southern region of Thailand over the past couple years might have a negative effect on the baht and foreign investment. Yet I read here somewhere that the baht was the best performing currency in the world in 2006. Huh?

I was responding to an earlier post by someone casting caution on the notion that all will be well when Bush and the neocons are removed from office in 1.5 years time.

I think they were right to sound a cautionary note. I do not believe that elections will not happen, but it's a possibility. You only have top take a look at what has already happened, rigged elections and illegal wars. What makes you think they will play by the rules when they so clearly have not been doing so thus far? Don't be so sure. Your confidence in those in power is alarming in itself.

I'm looking for a condo in a nice central location. Ideally I'd like it to have access to a swimming pool although I'm sure this is going to ramp up the cost significantly and so probably not needed.

I understand you can go to hotels and just pay to swim - is that right. Or are there any other pools?

I think the sudden deluge of rain is a factor here. Not only have we had days of heavy rain after prolonged dryness, but the drop in temperature will also have affected the land, the earth and all sorts of other factors. Things move, and if track inspections are not up to scratch, then no surprise that this happens a lot.

I take the BKK - Chiang Mai train regularly, and this weekend, after all the rain, was the bumpiest and scariest ride ever - people sleeping in the bunks were being woken up by the jolts and at times you could barely walk down the corridor due to the swaying of the carriages.
