My bill has just arrive 10mins ago, 1,684 baht, so it is now back to where it was....

Could not help but notice another running very fast, the house is owned by a couple that have not yet moved in !!!!!!!!

as they still have another 5 months of work before retireing, they come over most Sundays [we live some 50km from BKK]

Strange ?? NO they DO NOT have air con fitted yet... they will have a shock with the bill..

On a different point...... I appear to have a connection problem on my ADSL, and have to most weeks to re put in the Server DNS, but still the TV will not work........ Found that after re entering the DNS, if I switch off the Router for 5 mins then switching on again the TV is back working again [Dreambox via internet/Sat TV]

I just wonder that you have the highest bill during hot season...

if the electric meter is turning then the problem inside your house.

with the mains switched OFF the meter still ran fast....... Leaving it OFF for 5mins was still running fast.... checked at 15mins 'meter' was no longer running...... so far still running normal check every few days

I just got hit with 6,900 baht bill for may. I use a lot of electricity, but I wasn't even here for half of May? Any way to check what's up?

Switch off at the mains switch for 15min........ Now loads of people have told me that this Re-Sets and the following months should be back to normal..

I have a 3 bedroom detached house, the electric bill for 2004 and 2005 was never over 2,000baht per month, [seldom use the air conditioners as like it warm] then is started going up every month to more than 3,000baht + beginning of April 2007 was 4,690 baht..!!!!

Phoned the Electric Company to ask for a engineer to call to find out why……. They told me to turn off the main switch for 15 mins…..

Just received the new Bill for May [3weeks after the mains switch off] 2,902 baht

Anyone heard of this before? Or is it a con?

Well they work for me, I have a large pond in my garden which I go in most days to clean stuff out, 100's of moskitoes fly around me but in the past 3+ yrs never had a bite

YES, wounder why a Bank will open an account that is illegal in Thailand....

Saying that I did open the account in Thailand via my UK Bank in 1995, as it was just easier to have the money already here for my 6 week holidays to Thailand each year

A friend last week was told by Jomtien Immigration that his third retirement renewal application was not going to be accepted because his letter of two million baht in a Thai investment account and his 700,000 in his Thai current account was not lawful under the current laws.

On my 1^st Retirement Visa from Thailand, my Current Cheque account with a balance of 6.4 million was not accepted, they stated that a current account was not lawful, they suggested I put 800,000 into a Fixed Account… I did and this was accepted.

Friday 23^rd March I got my 4^th Retirement Visa, showing only the Fixed Account with 800,000.

From what I understand we have to have 800,000, so we can show that we will not be a burden on Thailand for the next year as we have funds….. The new Law of having the 800,000 in the account 3 month before renewal is to stop the people from putting the 800,000 into an account the day before, and withdrawing it the day after renewal of the Visa….

Some people will borrow the money for a few days……. Other do not like the VERY poor interest rate….. Even a Fixed Rate account is very poor in a Thai Bank….. On a Thai investment Plan I get 8.5% interest.. This sort of plan is NOT accepted by Immigration.

I did take my Passbook/photocopies of my Savings Accounts and Visa accounts, at Bangkok Bank & Siam Commercial Bank, but was not asked for them..

I drive in to BKK and park at HSBC, then take 40baht taxi as it is always to difficult to find parking at Immergration

There are 2 simple ways to open an account....

1/ Ask your Bank in the UK, mine did everything, I am with 'First Direct' and they opened an account with HSBC in BKK, at the same time they set up a 'template' for simple transfers..

2/ Go to the Town Hall, you will need the local area Junta + the Blue Book or Landlord/lady of there you live to go with you, the Town Hall will write a letter verifying that you now Retired and live in Thailand……… With this letter you can open a Bank Account, get a drivers Licence, buy a car etc………. There was NO charge for this document

I got mine from the Town Hall, ask the Junta, they will type the letter and you call back the next day..

No cost at all, need to take someone that knows you, or your house Blue book or house owner where you live..

I used the Town Hall for both getting my 1st Licence and my 5yr licence, and well as buying my car

I have a Dreambox with a MOVE setup, and get well over 100 English channels.. in total I get 1,366 channels from around the world… there are 34 Satellites with a good footprint over Thailand…. There are channels in just about every language here FREE to view, with the right satellite setup.

Went shopping at Carrefour yesterday and now understand the prices, they have every TV marked as ‘Pixels’ so people like me could not work out why say a 42” LCD cost 39,999 – 89,999 baht… so now it is clear 39,999 = .8 million pixels, where as the 59,999 has 1 million pixels, the expensive one has 1.1 million..

So would this be the ones in Home Pro for 250,000 baht have 2+ million pixels ?

What are the benefits over and above UBC..

I use JSat and found them very helpful and is 100% the best system on offer, 3 years ago I looked at all the Sat Companies, JSat offered the best,,

They have moved to new servers and have had a lot of emails disappear/not arrive, other than that they are 1st rate... I have the Move System + last October added linked into this system the Dreambox [internet connection] and now get 1,366 channels, with 100's in English

I have a MOVE Dynasat silver box II for over 3 years and is linked with the [internet] Dreambox D500 since last October..

This is the way to go, I am very happy and get 100's of English channels out of the 1,366 channel I receive..

Forget about Agulia KU, you get all of these + more on Measat 1KU

You would have been much better off getting the 'DREAMBOX' with the DMove system..

The problem with the F1 box and Agulia KU is the Key, this keeps changing and you must go to the RDI web site and look for the new key every time you lose your picture, also the weather = bad picture... Auto updating of the key appears never to work + they can change the key up to 3x per day !!

Yes I have the Move F1 box for 3 years, but last October added the [internet connected] Dreambox, this updates the KEY over the internet no problem + you get ALL of the Agulia KU channels + more on MEASAT 1KU 'ASTRO' I get some 1,366 channels on the Dreambox via all the different Sats.
