1. Deep down all Thai's know they are better than all other races. Even the poorest of the poor, still want to be reborn Thai.

    1. Being Thai is not a race, it's a nationality.

    2. Deep down, all Thais THINK they know they are better.

  2. I get annoyed ...very annoyed dear Nat,when the witless propose to teach when they are bereft of a qualification. I boast three degrees, but I have no teaching skills, none whatsoever.

And I don't like it when people who have never taught assert that you need a "teaching qualification" to teach. It's easy to get a TEFL certificate here in Thailand, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to teach. Also, I had plenty of teachers from primary school through to university who had "qualifications" but THEY WERE CRAP TEACHERS.

  3. George,

    1. I was already registered.

    2. I was allowed to post without registering.

    3. My Forum control panel has now been changed to Thailand time.

    4. I still have trouble deciphering the date.

    5. I would have this trouble if I was registered or unregistered.

  4. Phazey,

    Haven't a clue how to. :o

The modem is a SoftK56 Data Fax Voice Speakerphone CARP. The operating system is Microsoft Windows ME 4.90.3000.

Neither came with the PC. I had a computer virus a few months ago and I took the PC to the local shop. He re-installed the operating system, albeit a different version, and also the modem. He also took out a RAM SIMM card which he said had stopped working. I thought that was a bit strange, all those things at the same time. I can't remember how much he charged, but it wasn't a lot. I didn't feel that I was being ripped off, anyway, and it's a reliable place.

I had a problem with disconnections before, but now that you mention it, I don't think it was anywhere near as bad with the previous modem.

  5. I am having real problems connecting to the Internet. I keep getting disconnected. It doesn't seem to matter which ISP I use - I use Anet 300 baht per month unlimited mostly as I download files with KaZaa, but sometimes I use Loxinfo or Asianet. Sometimes I can be logged in for hours without any problem but sometimes, like this morning, I keep getting disconnected after a short period of time, as little as 5 seconds.

I suspect the problem is my telephone line, as it crackles a bit when I'm making a telephone call. Do you think this problem would be solved by getting a new landline? Or do you think that would just be a waste of money?

  6. Do you reckon all native English speakers are geniuses, then Axel? :o

The examples you give are almost all the noun + the verb of the same word. They sound different when spoken, as the stressed syllable is different to allow us to quickly determine when listening to spoken English which word is a verb and which is a noun.

The other examples look the same but sound different, because there are not enough vowels in the language to represent all the different sounds. The vowels come from Latin, but the words (and therefore sounds) come from Anglo-Saxon, French, Gaelic, Spanish, Italian, Eskimo, etc.

    Hope that helps.

    :D
