  1. Try Hitman Pro it's free for 1 month. That gets rid of most stubborn stuff that malwarebytes cant delete. http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro

If that doesn't work and you can back up/clone your drive use combofix (not compatible with 8.1)

DO NOT press any keys while it is running though, follow the on screen instructions religiously.

A back up may not be necessary, that's your choice.

  2. Every photographer knows how important a quality lens is to a shot. With our current technology of curved lenses, however, problems like chromatic aberration can occur no matter how elegant a design. A team of Harvard physicists are looking to fix that by developing a completely flat lens that receives light accurately – removing the need for color correction. Not only could there be major benefits to image quality, but it could lead to completely new, smaller lens designs.

First demonstrated as a prototype in 2012, the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) created a planar (flat) lens that is ultra-thin and uses nano-sized silicon antennae to direct light. Through the proper placement of these silicon antennae, light can be bent toward a focal point instantaneously – rather than gradually, like traditional convex lenses.

The way SEAS explains it: Different wavelengths flow through a curved lens in different directions by virtue of having a different frequency, and thus some wavelengths may hit a camera’s focal point at a different time than others, or miss the focal point entirely. But cameras use only one focal point to create an image, and if some of the wavelengths don’t hit that focal point, a loss of accuracy occurs. A curved lens accounts for this loss by using multiple lenses of different shapes behind it to manipulate the different wavelengths into hitting the same focal point. The newly developed flat lens, however, uses embedded silicon antennae to divert wavelengths to a single focal point at the same time through one, ultra-thin lens, dramatically lessening the chance for a wavelength to miss the focal point, along with being less bulky.

This new style of lens, dubbed by the research team as an “achromatic metasurface,” is being hailed by lead researcher Frederico Capasso as “a major step forward in establishing a planar optical technology with a small footprint which overcomes the limitations of standard flat optics.” He continued on that “it also opens the door to new functionalities because of the enormous design space made possible by metasurfaces.” Harvard’s Office of Technology Development is filing for a patent to pursue commercial applications.

  3. "Get back in the line"

I liked her as I hate queue jumping mofos, but she doesn't understand the civilised English way of just "nipping for a piss and I'll re join my wife in the queue".

I can understand her policy though after dealing with the Russians and middle eastern people.

  4. Oilinki by the time the new members find the thread once it gets buried, they wont be new anymore.

I also don't agree with pinning it. New members get a welcome off most people anyway when they post their 1st shot.

The only new category I can think of is 'Miscellaneous/Off Topic' eg...anything that doesn't fit in the other categories.

Post Processing/software and shooting, DIY lighting Techniques would fit in that category as would other stuff.

  5. There was a pic in Khaosod of the 3 heavily tattooed men, one with a mohican, being taken away in a police pick up truck to the monkey house. Didn't state what nationality they were.

Kind of reminds me at the end of Scooby Doo where they take the masks/cloaks off and say "Oh it was Doctor Methuselah after all", off you go to soi 9 in handcuffs you nobhead.

  6. I will be setting up a drive through marriage service and diner in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket in the next few months.

I want to save everybody the hassle of paperwork and misinformation from their useless embassies.

Real stretched limousines will be available for hire too, not your Toyota or Lexus garbage sedans.

Wedding garments will also be available for hire and fake looking gold to fool the family in to thinking you have money.

Don't worry about your properties in Thailand or at home we will safeguard them from any family thieves.

    Watch this space....

  7. Nikon website describes the difference between D and G lenses and apparently it is the lack of the aperature control ring in the G

    http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Learn-And-Explore/Article/go35b5yp/which-nikkor-lens-type-is-right-for-your-dslr.html

I would think that having an aperature control ring is a good thing? Then why is the D series cheaper?

Is there more to it than just the aperature ring?

I also see DX format specific 1.8D and G at

G is short for 'gelded' basically the aperture ring is removed as with your camera model it can be set with the front or back wheel on camera.

Nikon got rid of the rings to try and save cost I guess and maybe focus more on lens or focus quality, the only time you would need it is if you were using it on an old camera without the wheels.

The G version also has a build in Silent wave motor for auto focus that's what the S stands for in AF-S, whereas the D uses a screw type mechanism and the in camera motor.

With D lenses you normally set them to the smallest aperture and switch a lock, the aperture is set on the camera.

I own the 50 1.8D lens and it's a good lens for its price, It's a little soft wide open but by f2.8 it's sharp and maybe sharpest at around f5-f8.

Maybe I should have opted for the G as I find AF-S lenses focus more smoothly and quieter, the 50G probably focuses faster than the 50D (just a guess though)

The optical design of the lenses are actually different.

EDIT: They are not DX specific and so will work on FX should you upgrade in the future.

Here's a good explanation of the lens terminology and history from our good friend Ken Rockwell http://kenrockwell.com/nikon/nikortek.htm

Here's some info of the 2 lenses tested on a D7100 - have a look through the tabs for more detailed info http://www.dxomark.com/Lenses/Compare/Side-by-side/AF-Nikkor-50mm-f-1.8D-on-Nikon-D7100-versus-Nikon-AF-S-Nikkor-50mm-F18G-on-Nikon-D7100___177_865_435_865
