I live in Bangkok and on Sunday I go to the pub to watch football/boxing, have a roast and a few pints of Guinness, could go to church if I wanted, so judging by the fact there are a few Western themed pubs and a church around Sukhumvit I guess we can conclude Thai culture hasn't infiltrated Bangkok yet either. Wonder when that will happen... Of course they have had left wing policies. The fact that the so called Conservatives have now adopted liberal policies on so many issues is why they are about to lose power and IMO cease to exist within 10 years. Unfortunately for the left, they will be replaced by a party further to the right of centre than the Conservatives were that will (again IMO) likely replace Labour once they've wrecked the economy again. As for EU states, they are bound by the EU's leftist policies on freedom of movement, over zealous regulation, internationalism, influenced by the likes of Macron.

I couldn't care less. The only reason I notice it is because they prance down the street half naked shouting about it.

Trump is the first ex President ever convicted of a felony. And for what? A book keeping error. That he is the frontrunner for the Presidency in November and that his trial took place in a kangaroo court does not improve the look. You've opened a can of worms that you're not going to enjoy.

Seems weird to me that they would abandon it for no good reason. They did it before so they must know how to implement it. 10 Billion Baht income for essentially providing nothing. I would have thought the opportunities for graft were endless. My guess is that someone in a high position decided it was a bad look. Or maybe they couldn't agree how to divide it up between the various troughs. I guess we'll never know.

Yes I agree. I was posting from their perspective. I am of the opinion that the tax proposal for foreign earned income not remitted to Thailand is a ridiculous idea that could never be implemented. If they did implement it, it would cause tremendous damage and therefore it will be shelved. The 300 Baht charge would have no effect if they could sneak it into the airfare without anyone noticing. If they had to collect it at the airport like they used to, it could cause ill feeling and negative publicity, hence them abandoning it.

There were very few better places in the world to live until 20-30 years ago. Then liberal immigration policies led to dilution of the culture and multiple social problems. It's still better than large parts of Asia, South America, Africa, Russia etc. but 20 more years of the EU and left wing "progressive" policies and you might have a point.
