  1. Looks like TV maybe having party in Bangkok now that would be closer flying down to Bangkok. Then flying down to Bangkok and then to Khon Kaen.Any one else closer to Bangkok as well.

  2. Why was eastern Issan left out of the chosen few there are 20 provinces in Notheastern Issan.Maybe only list places that have Airports so we can fly there. It is a 3 hour drive to most on the list.I would rather just fly down to Bangkok for a party.Charge for the beer good idea I don't drink beer any how. Both Sakhon Nakon and Nakhon Phanom have airports. My vote would be for Udon Thani.

  3. Alot of rice crops failed due to the heavy rains and flooding this year,so lending the family money maybe a good idea.

But if your wife thinks it is a bad idea trust her judgement. It sounds like she is looking after yours and her best interests.Never lend money you can't effort to lose, maybe have your wife draft up papers saying that if money isn't paid back she gets a few Rai in her name and that she wants to hang onto the land title papers.Or if it isn't paid back that you will not send anymore funds their way ever again.Alot of people here had a very hard year.I was lucky to be out of the flood zone area.

  4. Probably water boatmen. You can't keep them out because more will just fly in (I've even had them fly into my soup!). They are quite resistant to chlorine. Just scoop them out if they bother you and keep treating your pool water as normal. Harmless.

Thank you that is what they are (Water Boatmen) after seeing a picture on the internet.I also seen to treat water with Bioguard brand back-up Algaecide and to shock chlorinate the water to get rid of Algae in the pool which they feed on.I may just remove them rather then adding Algaecide to the pool,I don't really have a algae problem at the moment.

They seem to have got away now only lasted about five weeks.

  6. I have the same problem in my pool little bugs with two sets of wings for swimming, started in May with 7-10 in pool now in June about 40 each morning,I have been removing them everyday as well and the chlorine dosen't seem to kill them either.Did you finally fine away how to get rid of them so they don't come back each morning? There are rice fields close by the pool.

  7. In some cases, when filling quickly is not urgent, we include a foot note in the contract - pool filling to be performed using customer's tap; customer agrees to pay for trucked water if ordered. Either way though, customer usually foots the bill (unless we screwed up and the pool needs to be re filled due to our mistake). We renovated a huge pool last year, and my guys started up the system forgetting to flush all the pipes first. Starting up the pool saw a "poof" of old concrete dust fly out of the returns into the pool all onto the nice new grout. Ouch. Luckily, there was just a little water in the pool, and we were able to drain and clean it right away. Great heart test though.

Ok my pool is finished, and I know by my contract that I pay for the water. We have found where to get the potable water from but can't find a truck to deliever it for us,we have been turned down 3 times already to use the local water trucks.Any ideas where to get a truck from?We are in Na Kae,Nakhon Phanom area.

you could go to the local orphodor sud council (they do roads in out of town area's yellow trucks) or even the local fire department, they all have water trucks and for me in the past could get it done. Tea money is advised.

They were the ones who turned me down in the first place.but the pool company found two trucks with water tanks on them for rent.Pool is full now and commissioned now.

  9. I am not an expert in pool design, which is why I got someone who was to build mine, which is a reinforced concrete in-ground pool with overflow. I am still learning how to look after it. Not being an expert I didn't want to launch into technical comment on your design concept, which will I am sure give you a pool way cheaper than mine, hence my interest to see the finished article. I hasten to add that part of the reason for mine being expensive was that I stipulated top quality tiles and equipment (not chinese) in the hope that they won't breakdown in a few months. I am in Roi Et by the way and you are welcome to see mine if you want.

Where did you get the water to fill the pool?Did you truck the water in,if so where did you find a truck to deliever the water? My pool is finished and waiting to be filled,we have found the water source, but can't seen get a truck to deliever it for us.We have been turned down by 3 people already. We are in Na Kae,Nakhon Phanom area, not Roi Et area. Thanks for any help.Using a bole hole would take along time and maybe use all the ground water in our area, not really sure what to do now.

  10. have you tried a manual backflush? Does your salt tank have water in it? On my system there is a filter attached after the water softener and before it goes into the tank, a long black plastic unit. Is that plugged?

Yes there was salt water in the tank but the filter was plugged, cleaned it but found out that the plastic gears were stripped so I ordered a new head and sent the other one out for repair.Well not even 5 days went by and the gears were stripped again. It should be under warranty, have since removed the whole system so we can have water in the house.I am looking at replacing this one with the manual ones, the plastic gears just don't last and the new heads are 10,000 baht not worth the head ache for the automatic one.I looked at one that a Thai fellow has who sells water he has 4 stainless tanks the narrow ones and one filter and another unit stainless that has I think 8 small filters in it.I have seen 2 or three of these tanks being used before but not 4 tanks. After the New Year the guys that put in his system are going to come and look at what I need for a filter system.

  11. AFAIK there are no systems available here that do this recharging cycle automatically

I just purchased a water softener from PURE, it is automatic. You choose how often you want it to back flush. It was not cheap, 30,000 baht installed. I believe the manual model was around 22,000 baht.

I also purchased the Automatic Masterpure A7 but have been using in auto mode for 1 month now and wokeup today with two empty tanks the water doesn't seem to be going threw the filter and emptied the tanks over the last few days,I am now just by passing the filter system and tanks and going straight to the house.I lost my manual for this system.Has anyone else had this problem?Did the filter not backwash and is it now plugged, any suggestons how to fix or what the problem is would be of great help.Thanks.

  12. Do not forget to consult a monk first if your wife is Buddist........I had things all sorted on how the houses were going to sit on the land and then was told something about "3 corners" on the small house (intersections of roads). Then the main house had the front door facing west.......apparently this is VERY bad, so I was able to turn house plan so the front door faced north. All good now? No, because then the master bedroom was planned with the head of the bed facing west.......no good :)

Apparently west is where the ghosts go or something like that.......not sure, but if you don't want a problem in the future be sure to have the monk approve things first.

Too late for me the front door of the house faces the West. But my bedroom should be the coolest room, just gets the morning sun then is shaded the rest of the day on the northside, also useing the bigger blocks to keep the house hopefully cooler,60x20x20 Cpac.Living room should be ok as well and kitchen.

  13. Hey Thomsat....that is truly sound advice. Great stuff....especially the bit about the HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).....very astute of you to include the benefit that this type of exercise continues to burn calories long after the end of the relatively "short" workout.

I'd love to see more great tips like that......and that said, I'd still like to hear an update from any of our SERC taking friends. How's SERC doing for ya'? How long have you been taking it? What dosage and time(s) of day?

    CHEERS!

    D

I have been taking Serc 8mg three times a day for the last 5 weeks, the first day I couldn't sleep but that went away,I am not hungry anymore and eat less if my wife wasn't cooking all the time I would lose more wieght. I have one side effect I wake like I did went I was 2o, for this reason I will continue to take them, but I only bought two months supply and can't find in Issan and they do stop you from being hungry.Anyone else have anymore news on Serc.

  14. I'm almost 30 and haven't had a physical for probably 10 years. Been to the doctor here and there for sicknesses, but no physicals. Anyway, my health insurance will pay up to about 14,000 baht for a physical so I figured, hey, why not? Has anyone been to BNH or Bumrungrad lately? I'm wondering which one you'd recommend from any recent experience.

What does the Exercise Stress Test compose of?

Can I get it all done with results and everything in one day?

    Links to programs

    BNH

    Bumrungrad

Was at Bumrungrad in Feburay around 13000 baht Bring running shoes for the stress test, make the appointment for first thing in the morning and you will be done by 2:00pm you will have to go back next morning to pickup results or they can mail them to you.You have to fast for 12hours, they say 9 hours I think.I was very impressed at the way you go from one station to the other station. Starting with #3 where you pay then on to #4 --#5---#6--- and back to #5 where I finished after seeing the doctor and going over the results. The same check up would take weeks to finish in Canada.

  15. Please call an extension of stay based upon marriage. It is not a visa.

The consulate in Pattaya will write the letter all you have to do is provide the proof. I don't think you need an appointment there because even the embassy in Bangkok does not require an appointment.

    Contact info: http://ukinthailand.fco.gov.uk/en/our-offi...ontact-details/

When do you plan on doing your the application for your extension? Some immigration offices will reject it if it is to old. Normal advice is for it not to be more thant a week old.

Where do you plan on making your extension? That will give us a better idea of what is required beyond the normal documents.

You will need your marriage certificate, wifes ID card and house book plus copies of them. You will also need your wife with you for an interview. Copies of your passport photo. visa and entry/permit to stay pages. Copy of departure card.

Photos of you and the wife in and around the house and one of you together near with your house number shown. And a map to your house.

Very helpful, thank you. First of all I didn't realize I had to register. I have now done so. It seems that I can also obtain this proof of income letter through the post so I think I will wait a while until my present visa is close to expiry.

I live in Uttaradit. Perhaps you can advise me as to where I should make the extension ? Since I live in an area virtually devoid of farangs getting the appropriate advise is difficult

When you do apply for you extension to stay on marriage apply for either a single (1000) or multiple entry visa (cost 3800 baht) if you plan on going out of the country in the next year, you will need a re-entry stamp to get back in again.
