This just feels like we have turned the clock back 25 years, when I first arrived in Thailand
The beaches sure seemed that way when they let us get back on the beaches. They are getting a bit more crowded now, but they are still at pre tsunami level days as far as people on the beach.

Looks like Thaivisa has found the golden ticket. Start any news headline with Trump, and you're sure to get thousands of eyeballs on the pages and said old geezers blood pressure boiling.

That, or maybe he has a number of doctors who will now be monitoring things. Nice addition to the conversation though. Don't give up your day job for a stand up gig.

So according to CDC numbers, he has a 94.6 chance of survival, if he was a regular citizen and not someone looked after by leading doctors. I would dare say his chances are much higher than a regular citizen.
Age Group Probability of Survival
0-19: 99.997%
20-49: 99.98%
50-69: 99.5%
70+: 94.6%

The harsh reality of a virus that has an ifr of .3% and what draconian measures do to businesses. The same thing is happening in London and other places globally.
"An audit by the state comptroller spells out what was feared — that the financial outlook for many is bleak. It finds up to 50% of Big Apple bars and restaurants could close permanently within the next six months."

Sorry for not clarifying.
It's just to grab a ticket and a place in line in front of the hordes of the unorganised.
You can hit it 3km away from immigration and uses your location to know you're nearby and put you in line.
I walked in the door and was first up.
I didn't see any room selections 101 etc.. Just give them phone number, visa or service required and that's it.
Apart from that it's a pretty useless app.
I don't care about spying or tracking. I have nothing to hide from anyone. Hope they like my taste in porn if they're watching.
I tried to use this, but the app would not allow me to input the day or time, even when I was less than 1 km away.

In the same article as referenced above, the author mentions two recent "flus" that have a double and triple ifr rate as compared to this current coronavirus.
"In 1957, a pandemic hit, the H2N2 Asian Flu with a .7% Infection Fatality Rate, which killed as many people per capita in the US as the COVID has claimed now. There was never a single mention of it in the news at the time, never mind the extraordinary upheaval that we see now. In 1968 the Hong Kong Flu hit the US (.5% IFR,) taking 100,000 people when the US had a markedly lower population. Not single alarm was raised, not a single store closed nor even a network news story. The following summer the largest gathering in US history took place, Woodstock.

And interestingly enough the UK has been caught juking the statistics. The UK and US have such high "Covid deaths" due to the manner in which the define a Covid death. Lies, da*m lies, and statistics as they say.
Interesting in that an ex Pfizer chief presents evidence of how many of the tests done are simply wrong.
Of the PCR test, the prevalent COVID test used around the world, the authors write:
"more than half of the positives are likely to be false, potentially all of them."
"In Boston this month, a lab suspended doing coronavirus testing after 400 false positives were discovered."
"In August, the government of Sweden discovered 3700 false COVID positives from test kits made by China's BGI Genomics. The kits were approved in March by the FDA for use in the US."

I agree with the above poster. Endemic corruption drives up prices for everything. Add to the fact that land owners think renters will pay whatever price is charged and in the past they did. This cost was passed on to the consumer. All these "associations" need to be disbanded as a start as well as turf for said associations. Supply and demand should eventually take care of the greedy landlords who will suddenly see their properties sitting empty for years at a time.

Right-wingers are so predictable.
Hilarious. I could have sworn that when you hire someone you can't discriminate based on race or gender. I guess that doesn't apply to the vp pick regardless of if she's the best qualified candidate or not.

Trump says he is chosing a woman for supreme court, trump supporters, crickets.
Didn't Biden say he was going to nominate a woman of color as his main prerequisite before choosing Kamala? Doesn't this eliminate a large pool of potential candidates based on race and gender only? Why wouldn't he pick the most qualified person regardless of race or gender. At least Trump is only discriminating by gender and not race and gender.

I wonder how the association president is making out these days with the association members having a hard time coming up with the monthly dues.

"Camels, and alpacas and llamas and other animals from that family have special, small single-chain antibodies.Tiny antibodies they've proved can block Covid-19."
They are hoping to develop a spray that would then block covid and prevent the disease.

Previous experiences show that just one infected person in an airplane can infect 15 others in the plane.
In 2018 when deaths were way above normal worldwide due to a strong flu, did the world shut down? Did anyone even notice? What would have happened if every cable news network was suddenly showing a massive increase in old people ( and young people who are affected by flu) being admitted to hospital and dying from the flu? It boggles the mind that the media is driving and spreading the fear and the sheeple are buying into it without looking at their own risk profile and assessing if they themselves should be taking care of themselves, or carrying on with life.
I get it that here on TV many posters fit the risk profile, are deathly afraid of covid and also don't need to worry about an income, but for 99.8% of the world, life needs to carry on.

Here's a good article about testing protocols from the various contenders.
Under pressure, Pfizer, Moderna (and soon AstraZeneca) publish COVID-19 vaccine protocols

Obviously Biden is saying this out of pure politics, but it's the right decision. All we need are a bunch of people suffering spinal cord injuries (myelitis) from a rushed vaccine as what happened with the Astrazeneca vaccine. IIRC, that same vaccine also got a bunch of test monkeys sick.

I haven't heard from this common sense doctor what the plan is to open the borders and get jobs for the masses who are unemployed and broke. What is his common sense plan for all those who are depressed and suicidal? What is his plan to get all of those who have cancer that put off getting cancer treatments due to fear of covid?

I'd love to see what the long term plan is. It sure appears as if there isn't one and the general in charge is in such fear that he doesn't care if starvation, depression and other diseases kills hundreds of thousands of Thai people while waiting on the miraculous vaccine which if it's as effective as the flu vaccine, really isn't effective.
Then what happens when the vaccine is shown to not be very effective?

30 minutes ago, Dexxter said:When Australia opens its international borders again, and gawd only knows when that will be, then I will be importing my Thai wife back to Australia, cancelling my Bangkok condo contract and saying bye-bye to Thailand for good. I was already <deleted> off with all the bureaucratic <deleted> building up before the CCP virus, so all these additional hurdles are the final straw. Perhaps in 5-6 years we might do a 3 week holiday in Thailand, but even my Thai partner prefers New Zealand or Europe, and there is a lot of Australia left to explore. Then again, the whole tourist issue might be a moot point if China decides to start a war over the South China Sea or Taiwan in the next 6 months. Then we would really have something serious to worry about.
In the meantime, I am locked at home 23 hours a day, can only go out for an hour but must remain within 5Km of my home, and have a curfew between 9pm and 5am. $1650 fine if caught outside. Police everywhere. If I try to leave Melbourne and visit the countryside it is now a $5,000 fine!!! Most interstate borders in Australia are still closed. All international travel is banned indefinitely. Thailand opening up for a few "elites" means nothing here.
Melbourne and it's 5.5 million inhabitants are going bankrupt over less than 10 deaths a day, most of whom are 70, 80 and 90 year olds in aged care homes who already were on the brink of death from other conditions. The world has gone crazy!
Indeed, the world has gone crazy. I was watching an interview with a Swedish gov't health official from April. Back then he was saying he didn't know how these countries that locked down would ever come out of it, unless they wanted to keep their borders closed for years. What wise words indeed as now the countries that think they have things under control by closing their borders ( state borders there in Oz) are only delaying the virus coming and prolonging the agony of all those that are unemployed, homeless, and broke. Nice job fearmongers.
Amazing how a virus that has an ifr between .2-.3 % ( that's 2 or 3 people out of 1000 that get the virus) has now caused the world to go crazy and politicians to seize more and more power.
There's no way to keep a virus out forever, so what's the plan? Those in power really don't have a plan to open their borders and get on with life.

Those 15 minute $5 tests would seem to be quite beneficial. Test everyone before they board, if they are negative, boarding is allowed. If testing postitive, then no traveling until you test negative a couple of times. Simple, cheap and not requiring people to jet jabbed with something that is unproven over any period of time.

It's the same for any respiratory infection, as well as the flu, nothing new here, but that's great you want to bring it up to scare people.
