Debit cards that come with a local bank account may not be a secure option. I only have experience with Kasiklorn but I suspect other banks do not operate differently.

Once the cashier swipes you debit card and enters the amount it is immediately deducted from your account, even before you signed the slip.

Not a real problem, except if your card was stolen, because the thief can take as much as he want. A sure way of limiting your eventual losses is to have only on your account the amount you a prepared to lose.

Why would they tell me if I live longer than them?

While we are at it, what do you reckon is a good coffee machine with grinder on top? At work , we had 2 Siemens and even if it is German technology, they were both often broken.

Here in Thailandd they are at around 50,000 baht. What about Bon Cafe and Severin coffee machine with incorporated grinder? Are they any good?

Don't know about these, but I bought last year last year a Solis Master 5000 (around 40K) (Swiss made) from company in BKK. and I'm satisfied. They mainly sell to offices, restaurants and hotels. Google it.

I dumped TrueVisions and got CTH. Not having an extensive choice - for my taste - of English spoken programs is sometimes a blessing: No TV can be a welcome experience.

Sky News was a revelation: how to present news in an attractive way. All EPL matches in HD is also great, but I miss tennis.

CTH workdwith subcontractors and that is I think the reason why the 'end bill' is different between different locations. I did not have to pay installation, but had to pay VAT on the contract, but not on the deposit. Local subcontractor is also Thai only.

Some things went wrong, a lot can improve, but I'm grateful all matches were shown, with English comments and all in HD!

And yes, TrueVisions did a better job with all the money they stole received from us. But HTC will improve and soon I will forget how clumsy they were at the start.

It's hard to understand that the American citizens accept so easily and without resistance the undermining of their constitutional rights by their own government.

If used in Thailand the solution is simple:

1. as it is a debit card it has, by definition, to be linked to a bank account

2. the card can be used by anyone because NO checks are performed! i. e. the money is deducted after the seller confirms the amount on his little 'machine', before signing the payment slip.
