Hello, I just wanted to double check that as my fiancee arrived in the UK before the new rules came into effect on settlement, does that mean she will apply under the old rules, or the rules for those who applied prior to 8th July? I just want to double check as we start our application.

Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like we should be alright. Will just make sure we've a letter explaining reason for return, marriage date etc etc. Cheers Bob, seems extreme refusing entry for carrying documents- I take it TLR has to be done from outside UK? Haven't got that far...!

Thanks for the reply Markie. I'm just a bit concerned that trying to re-enter the UK on the same visa may cause the same scrutiny as when she came originally. A doctor inspected her X rays, which I think is how she lost them, after a tiring flight sat them down somewhere never to be seen again! But like you say, I'm sure they can carry out screening on arrival if they doubt the copies, and can see she was permitted a few months earlier.

My fiancee has had to go back to Thailand and rather unfortunately has misplaced her TB X rays and only has the copies, not the originals. If she tries to re-enter the UK will she need to show the originals again or complete a new test? It's 3 months since she first entered UK. Would it also be advisable to have all the application docs with her too?

100% success rate so far. To be honest, I'm not surprised. A UK settlement visa is not difficult to get as long as you meet the criteria and show that you do.

I have begun wondering why I didn't just go for it years ago! I suppose you mustn't marry until you're 100% sure it's what you want and not just for the sake of a visa..

You'll be fine just printing them off with a date next to them to give an indication of when it was. I think we've successfully had visas without dating the pictures but probably best to.

After submitting the visa application last month I can't seem to remember if we wrote anywhere the actual intended date of travel. I think we may have written that my fiancee intends to travel asap. Is there a requirement for writing the intended date of travel or will the visa just begin from the day it is given? Thanks for any help.

Still no news yet! Getting angry now. Found flights with quite a few airlines at around 18,000-23,000 one way. Cheapest with EVA and British airways! Come on Embassy sort yourselves out!!

In my experience, EVA have always been the most competitively priced airline offering direct flights. Don't panic- we're all in the same boat

Thanks for setting up the new thread 7by7. Looks like we're a bit behind in the application race- 16th April ours went in after delays on documents getting to Thailand. It's a terrible feeling having our livelihoods hang in the balance but we've all just got to try and relax- the results are not too far away (I hope!). Keep us all updated.

Sorry to be a bore! I can't seem to find on the British Embassy's website/VFS about current processing times. I read them somewhere before but unsure which site. If anyone can point me in the right direction, or have had recent experience with an application would be great to hear how long it took. This will be my fiancees 4th UK visa with me as sponsor, if that would affect waiting time at all. Thanks very much,

Slightly unnerving when you hear about these things when in the midst of an application, but can't worry until there's a definite ruling. However it is nice to be able to set out a plan for the future! Apologies for bringing this up again but how would this new minimum earnings rule affect people who have come on a fiance(e) visa (sponsored by a person earning <25,700) to the UK before June and are then applying for settlement (after marriage) after June?

That's what I thought, 7by7. So why is there this talk of almost doubling the "current threshold of £13,700"? Or is this a guide figure?
