When does TM30 reset?
robsamui replied to Kalorymetr's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
"Perhaps something unusual came up or just one of those immigration inconsistencies." Being that there are 88 immigration offices in Thailand it is worth remembering that this is the equivalent of 88 7-11 franchises. In other words, even tho each office is bound by the same general policy the head of each immigration office is free to make any day-to-day 'discretionary' decisions that he wants. It is hardly surprising that there are 'inconsistencies'. -
STONER! Please use the 'quote' option when you reply (re the 'not trying to be rude' post) - reading what you wrote, right below my post, I went and hacked off a smaller cola , put on my safari suit and went hunting for small animals. ???? As it happens I wasn't too worried as I'd just looked at it under the microscope (B4 I saw your reply) and the trikes were just turning to a mix of mostly cloudy with some amber. Not all fully cloudy (about 25% still clear) but still almost-ready-enough for me to risk a much closer look via invasive surgery . . . and no sign of bud rot either, anywhere. ???? The lower buds are still cooking, so I reckon another week to 10 days. before it's pulled . . . a big difference between these and the ones I posted 5 days back.

ADMIN - oops - please delete.

Two weeks? My friend ???? will be interested to know that. The main problem has been bud rot (brown colour starting right inside the bud-mass) - just in the last 3 weeks or so. The rain and high humidity has been inescapable (even with fans running 24/7) and two colas (sigh) and half a dozen popcorns have had to be chopped. It's been OK for 10 days now so touch wood that nothing more will show up. It's on zero nutes and flushing right now . . . And that takes care of our smokes for Xmas!

Hiya. My friend's in the same boat. Here's something he stumbled across by accident, growing in the corner of his garden. I told him that it looks like it's really close now - lots of ginger hairs and the trikes are just starting to turn cloudy. But there's lots of little blonde Mohicans still coming up on the popcorn buds, so I'm guessing another week, or two, maybe? One other test is the density of the buds (I think . . . ). They should be firm when you squeeze them gently - if they're soft n spongy and not dense (and you can see daylight through them), then either they've not had enough light or, depending on the strain and type (ie hybrid / auto / photpperiodic), the're simply not ready yet.

I bought his Lemon Cheese- 99B per gm, buy 5 get 1 free. Yep - it looks like a bud and quacks like a bud but it's only 'pleasant' - very weak. My batch was damp and spongy, not properly dried, smelling of grass, and certainly not cured.. It's cheap, it works, and it's not unpleasant - for me that's fair enough value with 6 gms for 550 baht

For many years the whole business of Thai thinking - particularly politicians - really upset me. The Thais are delightful people - warm and friendly - but why why why did government and immigration policy change direction from one day to the next? Then, one day, it suddenly came to me. If you fix the idea in your head that Thai policy makers are 11 years old, it all makes perfect sense. Confused thinking, the sudden changes of mind, tantrums and petulance, and an adolecscent proccupation with following trends combined with a desperate need to appear cool and superior . . . just think of the country being run by the top year of a primary school ('grade school') class and it all makes sense!

In the last five months I shudder to think how many billions of baht has been invested in cannabis-related ventures, right through from sellers with carts on the street, up to fat cat politicians and police and army generals getting in on the act. It seems evident that there already was a huge black economy already in place, with underground grow rooms and importers of "flowers" (!) selling widely online in the shadows - how else did so much stuff flood onto the open market within days of the legalisation back in June? The elephant has been let into the room. No amount of blustering backtracking is going to change this - there's far too much money now tied up in it by important and influential people. The laws will be tidied and neatened and made to look outwardly respectable and efficient, like everything else in Thailand - quite rightly, as in this case it was more-than-usual too fast and unthought-out to begin with . . . Then the laws will be ignored - except for the odd arrest here and there, publicised to make it look like everything is smooth and polished. And life will go on - happily with the price of local-grown bud having dropped right down, seeing that just about everybody and his pet buffalo is now involved in one way or another in this typically Thai pantomome. God, but I love this country.

HA! We are amazing Thailand! We are the greatest nation in South East Asia! We are the Hub of Everything! We are the biggest and the bestest nation in all the world, and our fields are full of fishes and the sea is full of rice. Thailand is special. We are the most-special people in all the world and much better than dirty unwashed farangs in every way. Please FIFA can we have a discount?

It's not a "story", it is the established process in Thailand. It doesn't matter whether you are a bank manager or clerk, government employee or policeman - you have to buy your way into the job. And the greater the job-opportunities for bribery, extortion, or other corruptions, the higher the cost to get in.

Unfortunately it's actually a very labour-intensive business, growing cannabis, and needs specialised knowledge. For a great many years the Thai farmers prided themselves on the quality of their government-sponsored crops - which were sadly behind the rest of the world. The Thai "top" strain (Tana Kan Khaw WA1) contains only around 10% of THC (the ingredient that gets you stoned) whereas the cannabis 'pharmacies' are mainly selling imported stuff from Canada, Bolivia (and some states in the US). These have THC levels of up to 28%. The typical 'throw and grow' approach of the farmers just won't cut it in the face of this kind of competition, where everything is mostly grown under lab conditions with controlled nutrients, high-intensity lighting and exacting drying and curing techniques. The Thai cannabis is selling for around 100-150 baht a gram, in contrast to the vastly superior imports (sold as 'exotic' strains) that the 'pharmacies' are putting out at an average of 500+ baht per gram - some of this I've seen being sold in tourist areas for more than 1,000B p/g. I'll be soon coming up to the first harvest of the new cannabis regime and a huge number of Thais are going to find themselves disappointed, as all their low-grade harsh-tasting 'landrace' product hits the public at the same time, probably next month and December. And I suspect that the import tax on imports from abroad will suddenly take a hike too, when the government realises what's happening..

For those living outside of Thailand - the Thai language is limited. They have no words to distinguish between "being under the effect of'" alcohol, cannabis, LSD, or even Rohpynol! So to Thai people - who are not at all politically correct - there is no difference between the words used to describe all these different effects. You are acting "mao" ("drunk") in all cases. Thus in a Thai forum about specifically about Thailand and cannabis in Thailand, it is more appropriate (and more usual) to use the transliterated word "drunk". If you are in a more sensitive (and/or enlightened) part of the world, then please make an effort to understand this and to have more insight and tolerance - and may your chickens be bountiful and your days fruity with terrapins and terpenes.

The sellers THC percentages relating to a specific hybrid are quoted as "up to . . ." and the reputable sellers will state this. To reach this THC level you do the exact opposite of the Thai farmers:- you don't scatter to seeds in the dirt, ignore them for 4 months, then cut off the buds (which are full of seeds) and throw them in the sun to dry out.. The max THC can only be reached by using feminised plants (or hand-culling the males individually), applying a cocktail of scientifically formulated nutrients (which change through the different stages of veg growth and flowering), training and pruning, and using added CO2 in the final blooming stage. The careful drying and curing also carried out with the top pro growers adds another 4 - 6 weeks to the timetable. None of this is currently being done by your "average" Thai farmer. And is also explains why one line of (f'rinstance) Green Crack (etc etc) makes you cough your guts up and gives you a headache buzz, and others are so much better. When you find a seller who's friendly, helpful, reliable and trustworthy, and is selling good, strong, consistently-effective stuff at under the tourist prices for "exotics", you collect three or four of these and stick with them!
