  1. How come they never launch man hunts for the tuk tuk drivers? Well he better not fly home or go over the bridge. Best option die his hair and take the ferry to Trang.

The police only care because they lost face not because he hurt someone, especially tourist with tourist.

Pity he does not know about Privacy settings on FB.

Obviously you have no respect for the folk who live at Trang.

If you want him to escape, do Thailand a favour and join him.

Uh I think you missed the point! I was being sarcastic .. as the article stated they had alerts at 2 check points. Sort of like the whole Lee Adlehouse fiasco.. Besides who is to say he started it first? Sounds like he was certainly numbered and he wasnt the one with the knife was he.

So who is to say the other guy is not really the a*s hole here?

Just saying we don't really know do we?

"Some [expletive] named Sie and about 10 of his friends started a fight with me. I guess just to test a ‘UFC fighter guy’ at this [expletive] little bar in Karon, Thailand. Had a beer bottle and glass mug shattered on my head, then to make everything better, stabbed severely by some crazy Thai"

  2. Great Chaem in Kamala it is...now to just find the place! Thanks all for the advice, will let you know how it goes :)

HI I used www.mapjack.com to actually walk to the salon.

    This image should help you.

Map and photo of the Salon :D

From memory the salon is the building in the image with the little table out front.

I would certainly not trust anyone else in Thailand to do my colour. Have had a horrible experience.

  3. This is nothing compared to what is going on in the south and what has been going on for years!

Perhaps this was a case of Muslims killing Muslims though and not about religious intolerance.

Both responses are pure speculation with the latter just showing bigotry. The report itself seems to point more to local political problems than religious in-fighting.

Just a tad pompous there Mr khunken. The report itself is nothing more than speculation anyway. And it's true that it's, well not exactly "nothing", but as yet minor compared with what's been happening in the South, which has in fact been going on for years. There is bigotry neither in stating fact nor in making the comparison.

Yeah I didn't understand how it was a bigoted comment either? From what the "police" said it very well could have been Muslim on Muslim especially odds are in that province it would be. Hope they catch the person/group responsible.

Glad some people understood me as I was merely pointing out to the poster that 1. This is nothing compared to what is going on further south where there is religious intolerance and heinous acts of violence against teachers and monks.

As it was speculated it was political I was assuming that the politicians of the same village would be the same religion therefor it may have not been religiously motivated.

It just seemed that Footloose was unaware of the civil unrest in the south. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Thailand_insurgency

  4. This is horrible! A largely Buddhist country, suffering from religious intolerance under the name of politics, or the other way round.

This is nothing compared to what is going on in the south and what has been going on for years!

Perhaps this was a case of Muslims killing Muslims though and not about religious intolerance.

  5. HI based on the suggestions here I got a printer with the ink tank and have used it for a year and still have not had to replace the inks. I love it.

Never will I buy a regular printer without the modification of the inktanks!

Ok but now one of my colours is stuck..

any suggestions? I bought it in Phuket at the bottom of one of the escalators at Central and not sure if the guy is still there.

looking for a quick fix of course..

  6. I have found Phuket Dental Home in Karon very good. Prices reasonable and good freedback from other friend's I recommend. They work with a lot of Scandie tourist as well through the agents.

There is a German dentist opposite Tesco in Rawai.. that I have heard is good. but I have no further info.

  7. well thanks for answering

I sent an email already, but I hate calling Thai companies! Will give it a try though and interesting observation about getting a good correct answer.

... I decided the Manganesese was a bad idea and was a stupid suggestion from an well meaning but uninformed sales staff. I took it out and but Carbon in both chambers. Ran it for a long time, cleaned the ceramic filter and it taste so much better.

    The resin looks scarry!

  8. Ok I know nothing about water filters but started researching here and on the net.

Went to Homepro and got a stainless steel Mazuma- 3 chamber (4900THB). ( I hate buying anything plastic !! ) As there is no more mineral water except Evian in Thailand it was about time I buy a water filter.

I want mineral water. We have well water in my moo baan. My landlord drinks it straight from the tap. I wanted some basic filtration. NO RO and no UV.

So when I got to Homepro I looked at the Polymer Resin and did not want it. Looked like chemical and didnt feel I needed the "softening function" of it.

So the guy gave me a bag of Manganese. They installed it (homepro not Mazuma as I did not want to wait a week)

But the water taste Chalky!! and on further research it seems that Manganese is something that should be filtered OUT! :o

Should I empty it and just have to canisters of Charcoal?

    or what is polymer resin?

I did google but I am still unclear

    THanking you in advance!

  9. This stuff is readily available, about 65 baht for a spray bottle. Also works good as an air freshener. It works equally as well for my wife (Thai), me (not), and our daughter (50/50). No deet

It says it has natural herbs but does not say all natural. Sketelone regular is FULL OF DEET!!!! Stop spraying your family with poison! Deet will melt plastic.

Plenty of natural sprays around.. try Boots but read the instructions.

www.goodkarmathailand.com has a very nice natural oil, a bit more work to put on but it works.

I have seen many natural one in many shops. Also try wearing long close.

  10. I would like some suggestions.

I like mineral water, I do not want RO water that is basically void of minerals.

I usually buy Minere although have been told it is not the best. But now that I bought the last bottle of Minere in Kata and maybe all of PHuket and have been informed the factory is in Aythuya (sp?)

I think perhaps it is time to get a filter as the factory won't be opening up soon and I really don't like the wastefulness of all the bottles.

I live at the base of the hills with nothing above me and our water in my moo baan is well water that my landlord drinks straight from the tap. I live in Kata basically below the big Buddha.

I don't want to drive much further then Chalong and don't want the Amway one. My neighbor said he saw a ceramic one for 4k at Homepro. Although I know they are usually 10+ for a proper one.

I would not be able to install it myself, also do they need electricity?

I was looking at the old thread about bottle water. ..

    Any feedback appreciated and welcome.

  11. Agree about Lumpoon's!

Opposite Makro Just pass the Headstart School is a tiny little road and a giant 2nd hand store. Tons and Tons of stuff. Way bigger then the ones before super cheap. They close early though 5 or 6 I think. So past Makro if you are coming from Chaofa West.. make a left on the Makro road, go past Makro and just past Head Start.

  12. All you can eat Buffett at the Sea Sand hotel on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month. All my Brit friends like it and I thought it was good.

The Gazette has a listing for it in the events section.

Mr India is good but the place never looks clean to me.

  13. Most places don't seem to mind cats. There is no carpet in any houses so it is really not an issue in my experience. However my cats are Thai cats.. they love the jungle and can handle themselves around dogs.

Lots of dogs and cats seem to co-habitate fine in THailand.

My cats like to play with snakes and sometime bring them in the house as well as giant geckos, lizards, bats, birds, frogs.

http://www.houseinphuket.com Welta has lots of low-end/mid range rentals.

    http://www.siamrealestate.com more high end

However why not live in Chiang Mai if you don't care about the beach?

  14. Because I just took in one pain in the arse free-loading squatter cat that moved in when I was gone for 2 months as my useless soi dog practically lives next door and does not keep cats away.

    So I have 3 already and don't want 8.

But someone might be missing him, he is definitely not a feral kitty.

So will try to find them but I think he was probably dumped as i have witnessed this before while eating in Nai Harn, drop the cat on the side of busy Sai Yuan and drive away. (yes of course I took that cat home).

Also there is a mama and 3 kittens (feral) at the hotel I work at that I also look after.

I know soi dogs will do them for free and they come to Kata and do the pick ups.. ..
