  1. I visited Dusit Zoo in Bangkok this weekend .

Most of the animals seemed healty , but the chained elephants looked like animal cruelty to me.

I took this picture , they are chained behind the tree. They were standing in their own excrements.

  2. I'm very satisfied with the WiFI internet line in my apartment building , http://www.aiyaresidence.com/

We have a D-link access point installled in every floor connected to a D-link router in the reception. So it gives good signals everywhere. I talked to some of the other guests and they have no problems.

I pay 500 Baht for a month , I have to login every day with the same username and password.

  3. Im taking AirAsia flight to Chiang Mai 1 August, price 2100 Baht, and what worries me is that the 737 planes on that flight is 21 years old!!!

Yes they were build in 1988 , so lets hope they will last a few more flights.....

What is the safety records for Air Asia ?

  4. I hate being thrown about in the back of the tuk-tuk and arriving all wind-blown.

Thats another reason i prefer song taews!

I have to say that on the occasions that ive sat in the front of a song taew i have had some nice experiences/conversations with the drivers too, particularly the older gentlemen. Ive never felt uncomfortable. They've always come across as friendly and sociable. But, the tuktuk guys seem a bit more sort of hardball. Maybe its out of boredom or extreme curiosity, but i think at times they can go to far with their questions. Anyway, i havent taken that many tuktuk rides really, so i guess its unfair to lump all the guys together.

    Thanks for the tip.

I arrive Chiang Mai in 2 weeks and will only try to use song taews this time .

20 Baht is a very good price compared with tuk tuks.

  5. I'm wondering why you want to live in Thailand at the limit of the survival (66 to 100 baht a day for food). I don't say people must eat at restaurant every day, but I hope you have a big reward for the sacrifices you make to have a life here.

    Why not?

A simple and easy life , and a daily bowl of rice , can you ask for more? :)

  6. I agree with the last two post. A good place 2-3 bedroom will be at least 60K, my place was only 2 room and was 50K. Then school for 2 kids thats another 80K a month, elec, UBC internet 20K, maid 8K etc etc it adds up fast... Now if you are not going to stay in BKK then this can go down, but you need to think about the education for the kids.

Why do you lie ericthai ?

    UBC Internet 20k a month ??

I think OP is born Thai so he's not stupid ,

7500 USD is enough for the family and a really good lifestyle in Thailand.

  7. Never had any problems with tuk tuks in CM , I just ask for the price and normally 50 Baht is enough in the central areas.

If they dont accept it I look for another tuk tuk that will. Its ok to use the brain.

  8. Just too expensive in Phuket compared with Pattaya. And I'm not talking about the supermarkets.

A baht bus in Pattaya is 10 Baht, try to find a taxi in Phuket for under 100 Baht.

And 90% of the bars are just tourist traps. In Pattaya a beer is 40-70 Baht .

  9. There were plenty of people in Walking Street on the 2 Bhuddist holidays and not everything was closed.

    Another busy night tonight.

As a guy who actually lives in the tourist area of Pattaya and gets around the tourist areas everyday, I'm reporting what is actually happening in the streets.

    Pattaya is far from finished.

I have to agree , I stayed in Pattaya for 2 days on Monday and Tuesday this week and was surprised to see so many people out in the streets. Most of them looked like tourists, a lot of russians and middle easterners, some scandinavians too.

Maybe many bars and restaurants have problems but the street life was busy .

  10. Never experienced any problems in Thailand , and I have been here 15 times .

Now I stay in Bangkok and everything looks like normal to me.

The shopping malls are empty but theres a lot of sales going on so just love that.

The prices same same , back home everything is very expensive.

    Love Thailand :)

  11. Wating a cup of hot coffee and don't want to pay

80 baht at Starbucks, Coffee World, etc

50 baht (which is acceptable) at the ground floor donut shop

Go to the DQ Grill & Chill on the 5th floor for 30 baht coffee with refills.

Maybe for you coffee is just coffee ,

if the taste doesnt matter why not try the 10 baht hot coffee you find in the markets.
