  1. But of course that is one way of looking at the police - one's view may be different if it is the the police who are looking at you.

As a taxpayer in this county i am allowed to have a opinion of the police force and how theyd be better employed, an opinion i have gained through my dealings with them, i also wish theyd stop looking for no reason.

Regards to your insinuation i have no criminal record.

  2. I have always been generous with my money with my friends, though i never used to like to lend them money.

There is one ex-friend imperticular who was always borrowing off people and they may have got this money back, but only after chasing him.

Now one time when he came begging to me i gave in and lent him a small sum, which i never got to see again.

Now IMO it is my stupid fault for lending someone like him money, not his fault for being too much of a pri7ck to pay it back, same rules apply with banks.

  3. Somehow i cant believe these girls were forced into prostitution, but if they're hear illegally breaking the law time to give them a few thousand pound to clear off.

The people who signed the girls into the country or the English schools they are meant to be studying at should also be prosecuted with this as a seperate offence, as i cant imagine many were on highly skilled work visas.

  4. Anyone wish to bet against Gerrard being fit for the game v Chelsea this week, i really dont know why they try these stupid mind games everyone knows he will be fit, if not the other player of your 2 man team will have to do it all on his own.

  5. From out of nowhere a scantily dressed petite lady came to me and started to ask me all kind of personal questions such as what my name,

where you fom, how old you are, how long you satay Thailand, things like that.

Perhaps this girl just wants to practice her English language skills so I answered all questions.

You hansome she said, Thanks I replied.

Then to my shock she started sexually assaulting me by kissing and groping me.

I was starting to feel very very hot, and yes started to sweat a bit.

Could it be that this girl in some way manipulated and increased the humidity level?

No she did not turn off the aircon.

    How i miss Thailand.

  6. It was a great fight. Being American, I wanted Hopkins, but I agreed with the two judges that gave Calzaghes the fight. I recorded it, and the claimed low blow in the 10th was low, but it was more of a slap than a punch. No way it hurt like Hopkins played on. On the one in the 11th it was impossible to tell, but although Hopkins claimed he needed time to recuperate, seconds later after being told by Cortez (the ref) that it was not a foul, Hopkins was throwing punches like it never happened. As Calzaghes said after the fight, it was clearly a tactic by an experienced veteran.

In many, many years of refereeing title fights, Cortez has never been accused of being biased. It was a tough fight to ref, with both fighters employing dirty tactics throughout the fight. He warned both fighters equally and didn't take away points from either fighter.

I see why Calzaghes is undefeated, but I don't think he could stand up to Roy Jones Jr.'s speed and power. Still, it would be a huge payday for Calzaghes, and he deserves it.

It was Cortez who ref'd the Hatton Mayweather fight maybe im still bitter, when Hatton was holding he wouldnt stand for it, but when Hopkins was he didnt do as much about it.

I think Hopkins time wasting antics if anything would go against him in the judges score cards, as one judge had Calzaghe winning 9 rounds which i dont think he did.

You Americans do favour the aggressor which maybe why we see the fight differently.

I thought Calzaghes father/trainer wasnt as confident on hearing him between the final rounds.

It'll be Jones Jr or Tarver next for him as like you say thats wher the money is.

  7. I thought Hopkins looked the more dangerous throughout and landed with the better punches, id have give it to him on points, not one of Calzaghes better nights for me he looked tentative and scared of being hit and didnt really land with any combinations.

    Still he got the result.

Would like to see a re-match at Wembley.

    PS The ref is biased.

  8. I have noticed that many posters on ThaiVisa appear very nationalistic in regards to their home countries. I have always believed that travel can broaden your mind and make you more aware of our common humanity. I am far less nationalistic since leaving home in my teens. What is your experience?

Youre not allowed to be proud of being English without being called a Nazi/racist/hooligan etc...... You must have read the stories the other year of local councils taking people to court for having St George's cross flags outside their property during the World Cup.

Not so long ago most English never thought about being nationalists they were just got on with their lives and were never overly aware of such issues.

This British government now teaches school children to be ashamed of our history, for this very reason my friend has to teach his kids the other side of the story, hence creating a nationalistic father and possibly kids.

The English i know are nationalistic only because weve had uncontrolled immigration for god knows how long and have had whatever identity we had diluted and ridiculed, but worse then that many just couldnt care less about the country anymore.

But the government are looking to change all this by making St Georges day a English national holiday to promote Englishness, i and most others wouldnt have a clue when this day is and wouldnt celebrate being English anyway, as there is no need to push nationalism into peoples faces.

Personally i dont think travelling has made me anymore or less nationalist, just made me want to go on holiday more.

PS English are more proud of which part of the country they are from more then anything, it makes for good football rivalry.

  9. But I guess many people dont realize how bad that Bear Sterns issue could have been.. With soo many counterparties to that interlinked derivative mess, that could have started a chain reaction causing massive bank failures, the end of many wall street firms (no skin of my nose) and total meltdown of the system.. The systemic risks were / are actually that high !!

I dont know anything about deriatives, but arent i right in thinking that Bear Sterns was at the time of its problems actually worth something so from that point of view JPMorgan was buying it below market value to make money, not because the system would collapse if they didnt, hence capitalism at work.

As banks now know that governments will bail them out ie Northern Rock in the UK or loan them billions of $$$$$ when things go wrong, this gives them free reign to carry on gambling on a ticket they know they cant lose on. As they can say if you dont give us money the entire system is going to fail, theyve got us by the balls so to speak.

  10. I full-blown marxist indeed! :o Um, think about what you said one more time, ...why would anyone develop or improve their business if they couldn't make over 100k? Do you realize what a disaster that would be for civilazation? we'd still be in the bronze age. We NEED rich, gambling ba$tards to invest and develop our economy... don't get me wrong, I hate them as much as you do, but people seeking wealth is what develops a country. I ain't gonna be the one doing it (unlike rich businessmen, I'm going to be making money because I got an education and developed a skill, I didn't just throw all my money into a hotel and happen to succeed).

I agree with your post that we need gamblers, entreupreneurs etc...its stating the obvious.

But when you have for example these Russian oil Billionaires who havent invented anything to make the planet better and are obscenely rich due to being in the right place at the right time, or people in finance who have recently lost the banks shareholders billions getting million pound bonuses for losing less then their competitors, these are parts of capitalism that keep many people from developing and are a disaster for civilisation.

  11. There isnt a housing shortage in the Midlands and the North, the government are knocking down 400,000 houses similar to ones in London that sell for half a million pound. Property in these areas has gone up 300% or more in the last 10 years.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml.../26/nhice26.xml

Furthermore the buy to let investors who own 9% of all property and just let the house sit idle in some cases as people arent willing to pay inflated rents havent helped the affordability, this is all on the back of artificially cheap loans, and now im bailing these people out.

The market should find its own level without government intervention that is ultimately keeping the wealth divide in society at unprecedented levels.

As your from the States you probably dont get UK news channels, the spin from our government is that we are in these troubling times because of America and the sub prime market. The same people were taking all the credit when things were going well, there is nothing like passing the buck for the mess they helped create.

  12. Can anyone imagine the Government/FED (ANY Government - ANY Central Bank) pumping $ Billions and Billions into 'normal' companies if they lose so much money....? :o

Wholly agree, i and most younger people in the UK cant afford to buy property due to irresponsible lending/borrowing over the last 10 years which has overvalued property, now these people who have made money sitting on the sofa should suffer the problem theyve created, i cant see why i as a taxpayer should be funding the government to bail out banks and their shareholders so they can carry on offering cheap loans keeping the property market artificially high, hence keeping people such as myself out of the 2 tier property system. I WANT A PROPERTY CRASH!

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7355754.stm

We seem to be living in a free market when times are good but as soon as things turn sour its cap in hand to the taxpayer for the free ride.

  13. The government (UK) every day inextricibly links wealth with happiness, and this country has never been richer, so i cant understand why broken families are at record levels, we are the worst alcohol and drug abusers in the EU, we're the most violent etc etc.....

  14. If you can get to St. James park for Sunday afternoon there should be a quite a few empty seats in the Sunderland end, as most Mackems have spent the Giro they got on Thursday by then.

Gullivers is always good for the footy, usually full of southerners, Micks and Taffies otherwise known as Liverpool or Manure fans.

  15. I lived in Chelmsford, Essex 7-8 years ago and i knew a girl who worked for a man called John Palmer, he made absolutely millions from his time share business.

When this guy was out and about he liked to talk freely, and what he said was if anyone was stupid enough to buy a time share they deserved to be ripped off.

You can get nice new room anywhere in LOS for 1000-1500 baht so no need to own somewhere for a week or 2 a year.
