Obviously it depends on the candidates put forward by the main parties.

I suspect (but obviously don't know) that there is likely to be a huge increase in those voting for brexit parties, and a smaller turnout than usual, as voters become even more disenfranchised.

I suspect that a GE would result in many people (particularly those who had voted in favour of Brexit) voting 'against' a candidate rather than 'for' one.  This could result in a commons full of single member parties such as 'The Boaty Boatface party', the Yorkshire anti-Thatcherite party', 'Free LGBT Whales from Nuclear Destruction party' etc.  Not a good prospect.

  2. I think Mrs.  May will continue to pursue cross-party talks until next month and then, if no positive outcome for her deal, a debate will be held in the commons and a vote on putting the question back to the electorate.   If the commons are in favour of this course of action then the vote/referendum  would, this time, be clearly flagged as binding.

There would be two choices 1. Vote for Mrs. May's agreement (including the Irish backstop) and leave the EU on first of June, or 2. Revoke article 50 and remain in the EU.

Maybe it's time to read the constitution.

I believe that to impeach a member of the EC requires three-fourths vote of the NLA.

Not going to happen with the pro-junta Palang Pracharat party.

I do not think it matters that nothing can actually come of these petitions. Along with the pro-democracy parties joining forces it all puts pressure on the Junta.  I foresee, in the not too distant future, Chan-Ocha will turn to his side kick Prawit and, with tears in his eyes, he will utter the famous line "Infamy, infamy..... they've all got it in for me!"

He has one of the worst attendance records of any MEP; all the while collecting his salary and using the FoM directive, which he was against, to employ his German wife in the UK and claim expenses to cover her salary.

When we leave he will receive a nice lump sum compensation payment for losing his job plus a handsome pension when he reaches 63. Paid for not by the EU but by the British taxpayer. He could turn this down, but has stated on numerous occasions that he wont.

"... a handsome pension when he reaches 63..."

When I hear the name 'Farage'  I get this picture of a grey haired old man, smoking a Cuban cigar, drinking a fine malt whisky and looking out of his penthouse apartment.......down on to Red Square.

I just read your link and can’t find the part that supports you claim stolen guns are the number one source over ex-military weapons.

Fortunately NZ is more like Canada and lacks a large criminal element.

I made no claim about guns, I was merely responding to Beer Boxer who wrote " I'd read several times that most guns in the hands of criminals in the UK came predominantly via the Armed Forces."   The BBC article seems to contradict this.

Can you provide a link that shows the majority of guns in the hands of criminals came via thefts and burglaries from law abiding citizens please?

Although you are taking the thread 'off topic' here is your link.

  7. From UK Gov. travel advice for Thailand

Proof of onward travel and funds

Immigration officials in Thailand may ask you for proof of onward travel (e.g. a return or onward air ticket). You should make all reservations before leaving for Thailand. Some airlines have refused to board passengers without evidence of onward travel. Immigration officials may also ask for evidence of adequate finances equivalent to 10,000 baht per person, or 20,000 baht per family (for on-arrival-visa visitors). Other visa types may have different requirements: you should check with the Thai Immigration Authority before travelling.

  8. UPDATE

Got the answer to my question last night (Saturday) on KTV news here in Khon Kaen.  The station will be opened on Wednesday 13th March.   If I understood correctly, it also said that Chan-O-Cha would be present at the opening, probably a good idea to keep away from the area around the station on that day.

  9. I seem to have posted this previously into the news forum by mistake, so here goes, Does anyone know if the "new' railway station is open yet or are they still using the temporary one behind Tesco Lotus?

I have searched the internet but can find no info as to whether the new station is open. I am heading up to Nong Khai/Vientiane next week and I do not want to head to the out of town temporary station in error.  Thanks.
