  1. The only thing that happens by by-passing your pump as in Crossy’s drawing is you will have water when you have no electricity isn’t that what you were asking in the original post.

I see by your last picture this has not been done. And yes the pump does cycle when in use.

  2. It should be fairly easy to do. Just cut a tee into the 1/2” line before the the pump then pipe it around the pump and cut a tee into the pressure side. Don’t forget to install a check valve in this by-pass line or call the installer back to do the job properly. It might be a good idea the protect that electrical plug from rain.

  3. There are many auto gate installers around we had ours installed on a 10 year old sliding gate 4 years ago with two remotes. Both still working just changed batteries. It did all stop one day but turning the power off then back on solved that. I think any who sell the openers will install them.

  4. thanks for the information....I (think) I stand corrected...do you Know how they're made? what's the aggregate? and are you saying white cement is used in a block which will be plastered or hidden in finished construction?

Cement, lime and sand: mixed with water to form a slurry, then Aluminum powder is added, which is the only raw material imported The aluminum powder reacts with lime to form millions of tiny hydrogen bubbles which expand the mixture and then diffuse from the material to be replaced by air. This process forms the micro - cellular structure, which gives the material its lightweight and excellent insulation.

  5. david96 all good points but the OP was not looking for something in the 6-10KW range he posted a range of 2.5 to 3 KW also did not wanted a small low cost unit.

Here are some advantages to on-demand water heating:

Tankless water heaters are compact in size and virtually eliminate standby losses - energy wasted when hot water cools down in long pipes or while it's sitting in the storage tank.

By providing warm water immediately where it's used, tankless water heaters waste less water. People don't need to let the water run as they wait for warm water to reach a remote faucet.

A tankless water heater can provide unlimited hot water as long as it is operating within its capacity.

Equipment life may be longer than tank-type heaters because they are less subject to corrosion.

Expected life of tankless water heaters is 20 years, compared to 10 to 15 years for tank-type water heaters.

Storage tanks at times require the installation of extra piping.

  6. I’ve always had good er.... reasonable service from UBC here in BKK. Two months ago our reception stopped they came the next day and replaced the receiver, remote, and set it all up. The new receiver shows channels different and has more features than the old one. If my wife calls they have her pull the smartcard in and out pull the power plug out and all that crap when I call just tell them I’ve done all that and what the tech to come out.tongue.gif

  7. About 8 years ago when I had my Canadian daughter registered as a Thai national we had to get a DNA test here in BKK. We all had to give blood at that time. Before only the women knew for sure.

  8. Your right on about electric tankless water heaters requiring a relatively high electric power draw because water must be heated quickly to the desired temperature. But there are disadvantages to centrally located heaters such as:

standby losses. Also as you noted in your post energy wasted when hot water cools down in long pipes and while it's sitting in the storage tank.

    Just another point of view.

  9. Hello,

I have a german drivers license (plastic ID) + a international drivers license issued in Germany. Can I get (buy) a Thai drivers license?

Just go in and present your German license pay the Baht and your goog for five years. I like in Bangkok and have never been stopped for an ID check. A few speeding tickets and a few cash payments for speeding. Love this country :) .

  11. Am I understanding this right. The OP has been late 3 or 4 times on a one year lease that had expired six days before starting this post and he thinks it’s about the water being shut off. We rent a house here in Bangkok thats Bangkok not Pattaya my wife goes over on the first to pick up the rent. Once we had a tenant that was late two weeks she went over and put a lock on the door. A few hours later the tenant came to our house all smiles with rent in hand. Of course not 6 digits so obviously not as important as this OP.

Just grow up and pay up. Since you don’t have a lease I think your lucky everything isn’t out on the street.

“Anyone else here, not on welfare and living in Pattaya with something of substance to add”

You really know how to get on the winning side and this is what I'm adding.

  12. With all those screws breaking the zinc on the framework there could be a major spalling problem over the years, especially in wetter climes.

Don’t think this should be a problem here in Thailand as most drywall used on ceilings use this method of attaching. Possibly the pumping of light weight concrete i.e. availability of pump the cost etc. Noticed in the video only half the wall was fill in one go so looks like it would be a two pour job.

“(Or are there actually people qualified to do it upcountry even?)” good point. It seems a good idea but more information is needed.

  13. Since we live in the real world suggesting a 2" pipe could or would solve the OP problem is foolish and only made sillier by trying to prove the comment with a hypothetical pipe. To increase flow in a pipe you increase pressure.

As stated by AsiaCheese a small pump may solve the problem since you have ruled out a move.
