As of Sunday-4 July-16-17 dead. 6 in coma 3 missing.
I don't think your sources are so reliable.
Why do you want to spread fake news??
just relaying what I have been told-firstly, by one of the people tossed into the sea-who actually saw dead people floating in the water, in the rescue boat torch/spotlights.
And, the second report came from a policeman.my neighbour, who attended the scene, and spent 2 days netting the water, searching for the missing.

I have heard from two sources about the accident. Both details are the same, but I didn't hold much belief in the first report, but the second is from a very reliable source.
As of Sunday-4 July-16-17 dead. 6 in coma 3 missing.
All the dead were taken to Ko Pangan-the injured to Samui.
One boat had no lights on
one boat operator had been told as early as that morning, not to go to sea.
The local paper will NOT be published for the next month, in an effort to stop the story getting out.-Due out today-we will see.
Just terrible, but nothing will be done to improve things, if no-one knows!
Oh-and NO insurance, because both boats WERE overloaded, and one was told not to operate!!

When I said "land based option" and cheaper-I meant where is the closest place to obtain visa, accessable by road/ferry -ie with thai consulate-malaysia or burma etc!!! All paperwork for "O" is in order etc.
-
hello all,
I was wondering where /what would be the best option to get a new Non Imm O visa. I am mobile,(car) and have no probs driving on the mainland. My wife (thai) will have to stay on the island to watch our herd of dogs and cats!! I usually do this in Australia-or fly to Kuala Lumpur, but having purchased a vehicle, I was wondering if there was a "land' based option!!!-ie cheaper option!!
Any help or suggestions would be welcomed!!!
Have a great day here in paradise!!

Malayan Pit Viper is my guess. Viperkeeper calls these "Finger Rotters" so you definately don't want this around you or your family.
Actually color doesn't look right for Malayan Pit Viper so perhaps your Mangrove Pit Viper is correct.
I can see its a viper - My better half reckons its a Sleeping Cat Snake (noo meaw sao) or Russels Siam Pit Viper. Correct or not? I found it in a beach hut on a small island on the Andaman coast.that snake is a Kanburi Pit Viper-Trimeresurus kanburiensis. Highly venomous-as are all vipers.
-
That snake is a Green Tree Racer-grows to 120 cms. As for the colour of the tail-it is not characteristic of the species. It is probably the result of a near fatal attempt to kill it, which has somehow healed. A snake cannot regrow its tail, nor does it shed it as a gecko or a skink does, to evade capture. However, when these lizards do regrow their new tails, they are often a different colour, and texture in the case of geckos,to that of the original.
As for the other twits that find it neccessary to needlessly massacre a wild animal, think about this: 80% of all snakebites occur when attempting to kill the snake!

Who the hel_l really cares anyway? As long as they spend some cash here if they ever come!

Not sure if the years extension is possible-I left Thailand a week before the visa expired-effectively giving me 15 months here-since then border runs etc-never overstayed. I went back to Oz last week with all the required papers-as per the Thai Embassy in Canberra website-drove the 3 hours to Canberra to Sydney, only to be told that I didn't have all the required papers. I said that I had all that was required as per the website-and the guy just said "Oh it's an old site",
,and of course the Sydney Thai consulate site WAS up to date, but as my family live near Canberra, and that was where I got my original visa-I stupidly went there!!! So came back on a 30 day entry visa, hoping I could get it done in a neighbouring country. But having done some reading here tonight, it seems that neighbouring countries aren't doing multi entries. Is this so? and if not, where is the best, quickest place to go from Samui?
-
being married why not get an extension of stay at the immigration, you'll stay in thailand the entire year without the hassle to go out every 90 days?
400.000 in the bank and the job is alsmost done, if i was married i would choose this option for sure.
It actually says on the visa"extension of stay not permitted"-it has to be renewed anually.
I think I have the tabien baan sorted-now all I need to know is the best consulate to go to ???????????

Also what the hel_l is my wife's "Thai house registration"-not even she knows!!!
She will know. Every Thai has one. 'House Book'
Nope....she has no idea what it is or where to get it from-she is now yakking to her mother in Isan trying to find out!!! Oh life is a banquet!!!!! Repeat mantra: jai yen yen

Hello all and Happy New Year to everyone!!!
The time has come for me to renew my non Imm O visa. Also what the hel_l is my wife's "Thai house registration"-not even she knows!!!

Hello and Happy New Year to all.
The time has come for me to register my Chev Colarado. As I bought it new, it came with 1 years registration. That year is up in a few weeks and I was wondering about the process of re-registering. It is just a matter of going down to Nathon and paying the 900 baht at the Dep Motor Vechicles place, or are inspections by mechanics required. Also what is the deal with third party insurance? Is it compulsory here as in Australia?
Any info would be great!!

The vet in Lamai is dr Joe tel 08 62663020. A few months ago he has put one of our Jackrussels to sleep. He's very capable and will also visit your house.
Sorry to hear about your dog, it's really hard to see them suffer. Good luck and all the best.
Thanks heaps mitmig-Dr Joe came to my house and did exactly what I asked of him-my old friend just went to sleep with his head in my lap. Thanks for your help. Hardest thing I have ever had to do, but now he is in no more pain and at rest. Thanks again.

Hello all in wet and soggy Samui!
I moved here just over 14 months ago, and brought my dogs with me. Sadly, my biggest dog King, and Alaskan Malamute X Siberian Husky has reached the end of his life-he cannot walk anymore and refuses to eat anything-and believe me I have tried everything! I have enquired at the Samui Animal Hospital and the Samui Animal Clinic, and although he was treated at the former, I cannot get a vet to "put him to sleep" and end his suffering. For some reason the vets won't do it, and I cannot let him suffer anymore. I have heard that there is a vet in Lamai that will come to your house and do it for you-but both the places mentioned cannot give me a telephone number, and only very vague directions about the location. Does anyone on here know of this person?? It is killing me to see such a big and majestic dog suffer like this-not to mention a great friend to me for 11 years. Any help would be great... Thanks so much.

hello all,
I have a small problem: I have an Alaskan Malamute and a very furry Himilayan Flame Point cat. They both require shaving, but need aneasthetic to do so, as the dog will bite and the cat will bite and scratch!!
Does anybody know of or has heard of anyone/vet offering this service? I have tried the two animal "hospitals" near Tesco, but to no avail.Any suggestions would be great!!!
Cheers everyone!!!

The reported death of a man outside Charlies Angels are completely false. I am a co- owner of Charlies Angels and this just did not happen. In fact the first the staff and I heard of it was last night. About the two girls reportedly dying, this also seems false,-it certainly wasn't girls from my bar, or Dreamgirls or 69ers. About the other bars-I could not say!!

hello all,
Does anyone know of a good car window tinting place on the island?
THANKS
-
Oh, nice dogs. I hope you let them in aircon sometimes, but definitely get kennel fans for them. Don't tell the neighbours or anyone how much your kitties are worth or they might go missing! Have fun!
I guess the next fairly obvious question would be where would I get kennel fans???

Roo speaks true: get them made -- open fencing for walls and a covered roof. Hope you have a fan for each one and you're not bringing pit bulls.
Thanks for the help. No pit bulls!!! One Alaskan Malamute x Siberian Husky-shaved and looking ridiculous, one Staffordshire Bull Terrier x Border Collie and one Maltese x Pomeranian!!! Plus the seven Himilayan Persian cats-they all use my house as theirs, and don't go outside ever-legacy of Australian wildlife protection laws-plus they are each worth AUD1,000!!!
Thanks again for the help

Hello all,
I have just moved to Samui and have my animals flying in in 2 days-7 cats and 3 dogs. Is it possible to buy dog kennels here?? I asked an American friend here and he told me to watch the Thai faces when asking for houses for my dogs!!!! A couple of the reactions were quite funny, but I still need kennels!! Can they be bought here anywhere, or would I be better off getting some Thai chap to knock a couple up for me out of timber? Any help would be great!!
I know I know- a house for a dog in Thailand!!!!
But I do need them!!!
Cheers

my wife has a very nasty scar on her arm from a 45 minute "battle" with a Tookay. It just wouldn't let go, until she put her arm and the lizard on the ground. As soon as the lizards' feet touched the dirt, it let go!!! But I can understand people trying to fling them off in a panic!!!

Someone here might be able to help me.Last time on Samui I heard mention of a fairly "big wig" on the island called "Moo". Does anyone know anything about him? I heard references to him a number of times and was just curious!!
Cheers all

Water Pump
in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Posted
Hello all!!
I have a question...........If the water pump, that delivers water from a tank to my RENTED villa, has been rendered useless from the recent rain, who is libel to pay for repair/replacement?? I own a house in Australia, and I know it is my responsibility if the pump fails-as it has. There is nothing in the rental agreement relating to this. Any thoughts?
