Good job you aren't in Australia!! AU$5,000 for everyone you kill-they are protected here!!
But in Asia they mainly eat mosquitoes and moths-thats a good thing!
Learn to live with them and be grateful that's all you have to worry about!!
Some people have bombs dropping on their heads!!

G,day from down under to all!! -mainly aussies needed!!
I could be asking a dumb question, but what is the best way of obtaining a non imm type O visa for 12 months with multiple entries? I have been told to go to the embassy in Canberra -2.5 hours away, that you can do it by mail and that even your travel agent can do it!!!
Any help would be great!!
Cheers

Hi,
Does anyone have a email address for the Thai embassy in Canberra. I have found two on the net-neither worked. Even the one on the embassy home page was unsuccessful.
Cheers and have a good day!

Hello,
I am wondering if there are any decent dog clipping "salons" on Koh Samui. Also which vet is the best. I have a Maltese that needs clipping. I also have an Alaskan Malamute that requires shaving under anaesthetic, and several cats persian cats that require the same!! What we do for our animals!!

Hello fellow pet lovers.
I am relocating to Koh Samui in September. I have 3 dogs and 8 cats. Are there any breed specific regulations? And do the cats and dogs have to go into quarantine? I am from Australia, and our laws are ridiculously strict, and I am pretty sure it will be a one way trip for all of them, as I don't think they will get back in!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers

Immigration can extend your stay for family or retirement in one year segments. You are below the 50 retirement age so you would have to use family to take advantage of it. This method means you do not have to make exits of Thailand and provides a path to permanent residency for a few. The family used to be called support Thai wife and required 400k baht in bank account or 40k income. There is no longer the 400k option to new applicants and it no longer is support. It is now 40k family income proof.
Read a few threads in the forum and I am sure you will find it talked about in one of every five or so.
Thanks again!! What sort of proof is acceptable??
Where in Oz are you located ?
I am located 4 hours drive south of Sydney in a place called Batemans Bay

Hello!!!
I was wondering if there were any special requirements for setting up a bank account?. It would be for personal use (non business).
Just to put money in when I travel between Oz and Thailand. I will have a Thai address, and am married to a Thai national.
Any help would be great!!!

If you do it in a joint name I doubt it will be a problem, but I've not done that.
I managed ti open an account in my own name last year. The main issue I faced was that the first bank I went in (I think it was Bangkok Bank - can't remember exactly now) wouldn't do it because I only had a Visa for a month, and they wanted a three-month visa at least.
So I walked down the road to Ayuthya Bank, who were very accommodating and opened an account with no fuss. I went armed with plenty of documentation as backup, but in the end the only thing they actually wanted was my passport (of which they photocopied EVERY page - and I've got a lot of stamps), and I had to sign every page copied. They also needed a Thai address.

Thanks Artamus, much appreciated Cheers

Obtain a multi entry non immigrant O visa valid for one year prior to leaving Oz. During your stay in Thailand apply for extension using the family 40k per month income procedure (which is not too clear at this time but should be well documented by then).
Thanks for the info-what is the 40k per month income procedure? That is a new one to me!!

Hello friends!!
I am wondering if anyone out there could have some advice for me.
I am married to a Thai national, and we are currently in Oz. We are looking to move to Thailand in Sept.
I am 43, and my income is derived from a trust account, I set up when I was younger. This gives me a income of roughly 1.5 to 2 million baht a year. So I am not looking to work there. What would be the best visa to try and get?
Any help would be great!!!
