  1. Just when it looked as though he might be leaning towards a bit of tact and diplomacy in the wake of the Japan visit, he shoots himself in the foot with this nonsense. Whoever is providing his PR advice should sacked, pronto.

No. Prayuth is correct. Enough is enough with those corrupt politicians. You can't take any risk. I remember one that was granted permission to visit the Beijing Olympics and never came back to Thailand to face the courts. And instead paid a red army and a US team of lobbyist to destroy Thailand.

Too bad the good General isn't a thief himself then you might have something there.

  2. from just a couple weeks ago, ...

"Today, have I ever restricted anyone's rights? Have I ever done that?" asked Gen. Prayuth,

It looks like the General is "outing" himself...

Toppled Thai PM 'can't eat noodles' without our say: junta chief

The good General really is a laughing stock. How could anyone be so dumb?

Besides being a Shin clan thing, this is a gender thing. I have never heard of such treatment of any former male Prime Minister in Thailand, deposed or otherwise. But it's OK to do this kind of thing to a woman.

    Amazing Thailand.

  3. I have noticed that every hotel I have stayed in has a lower railing than most. I have leaned against them and am above the tipping point..... Men's mass is above the waist where women have their mass located lower. Probably help to add another rail....

Exactly! Low railings are the norm in Thailand so when foul play is not suspected, you can most likely blame low railings. When will these builders get a clue. It also makes foul play easier when a simple push will cause a certain plunge.

  4. Must be fulfilling to know a couple of people that support dictatorship and blatant disregard for the will of the people....

Maybe try talking to the vast majority of Thai people who voted for Yingluck........ Sure, maybe some regret there vote and are fine with the situation...... But most are probably pretty dissatisfied with having their vote trampled on once again by the military.

"the vast majority of Thai people who voted for Yingluck"

A tired old chestnut, and still as inaccurate as ever :-

    1. Votes for PTP in 2011, 15.7 million http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_general_election,_2011

    2. Many of whom were voting rather for PTP, and their extravagant election-promises, free Samsung tablet-computers & immediate large pay-rises & everyone becoming rich like the Great Thinker within six months, etcetera, not just "for Yingluck"

    3. Population of Thailand, 67.7 million https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/th.html

    4. 15.7 million is 23.2% of 67.7 million, and that's a long way short of being a "vast majority", I'm afraid. wink.png

There is a difference between the vast majority of Thais voted and the vast majority of Thais WHO voted. Big difference. FYI, one means the vast majority of the total population and the other means the vast majority of the population WHO voted. I'm sure many democracies fail to reach the majority of the population but rather reach a majority of the voting public.

  5. How dare they try to take the airport back from the criminal yellows shirts who held thousands of foreign tourists hostage including children and infants. These mongrel caused great pain and anguish to many people from around the world. I had an appointment in Melbourne that I couldn't make and lost a few thousand dollars because of the lowlife yellows. Many tourists were extremely grateful that they were freed and able to get home after the government acted. The government were the good guys and the heros in the eyes of tourists and the yellows were seen as evil thugs.

Amazing double standard in Thailand. The Yellows are really just old bullies. So sad to see the injustice when Abhisit was responsible for the death of nearly a hundred. No reconciliation now.

  6. I can't say I have ever felt as it I were treated any better or worse than any other falang. Sometimes I think some Thais feel a little better about Americans, but not enough to make a difference in daily life.

Anything good or bad towards us is really coming from the government. Yes, right now I think the government is very unhappy with the US, but I don't think that would translate into taking anything out on US citizens.

What I do feel since I've lived in this country is a lot of hatred from other Western countries against the US and this has...opened my eyes to say the least. This has all been perceived from the comments of many crude and self-important posters on TV who show their own tremendous faults simply by the posts they make. I just try to remind myself that most of these people are narrow minded with limited perspective and education due to their below average IQ's. It's patently obvious by their comments and their willingness to blurt these comments out to the world.

I have no idea what sort of Thais are in your circles, but all the Thais I have associated with and met over the years, including my wife`s family, couldn`t tell one farang nationality from another. We look farang, we speak farang, we come from Farangland and we`re all Christian. It was vice versa for me back in my young days in Farangland, all South East Asians sounded and appeared the same to me.

The only Thais that may have different opinions regarding western nationalities are those who have lived long term in the west or those in authority, regarding relationships between western countries and Thailand, but the average Thai in the street couldn`t care less.

    Here, Here! Hear!

  7. To qualify, "it's been my experience" that Thais really don't see nationality when coming into contact with a white foreigner. They see farang. I don't think most Thais give a hoot what some U.S. government official says. Some might, but even those are not going to hold it against he average American they meet on the street or perhaps work with.

The real problem is those damn Englishman!

    haha...come on man...don't serious and I mean don't serious.

  8. Well it is good if they pursue legal actions as well as impeaching her. She needs to be held accountable for such huge losses to the country and from what I understand in this article they have enough proof that she contributed and benefitted from those losses as well.

They should immediately revoke her passport or she is going to follow her brother and do a runner.

Amazing what military dictators can do when they put their minds and bullets to it.

  9. If the NACC knows what's good for them, this investigation will be quickly swept under the c, because Suthep and Prayuth were in charge of the 2010 crackdown.

    Absolutely!

What's ironic is those that crackdown on the 2010 protest then staged similar, more destructive protests that eventually led to the military takeover. The double standard by the central Thai elite lives on and on and on.

  10. So they ask a token professor onto the constitution writing panel and his offerings go something like this:

    "Well, I think--"

    "Yes professor?"

"I mean we should have free--"

    "Free what? Do go professor."

"The freedom to, you know, choose are--"

"Sumtum? Why yes professor. Choice in sumtum is something I think most of us would agree is a well deserved freedom."

  11. So the media got a visit by the mob. They presented him with an offer he couldn't refuse and he didn't.

That said, Thailand has never really had free speech. I can't see how anyone could be surprised by what happened. It's more overt. Thaksin did his own strong arming of the media. Remember the fallout on those stories on those cracks in the airport runway?

And let's not forget, anyone at anytime can turn you on lese majesty, right? And in that case, the police are obligated to investigate.

Better shut the hell up as most Thais do.
