  1. Hmmm ... at the beginning of June my work took me to the Samui Palm beach resort in Bo Phut - owned by the family that owns BA.

It turned out that this huge resort had only 23 guests - 19 of them were comps for employees of BA.

Can't help wonder if the giant hike in fares might be connected in some way ...?

    R

doesn't surprise me at all - there's also the huge 'buddy' resort/complex in lamai. way over the top and I'd be shocked if they were anything like full.....ever.

the pool over the road at buddy used to be nice, until they started charging for the use. I think it was initially free as long as you ordered food/drinks then they started charging - initially 40THB, then 80THB and now 100THB. needless to say they now have few customers and the pool and surrounding decking is getting shabby.

    samui greed strikes again.

100 Baht to use the pool??......Its an outrage!!....What I can use it all day for that price?.....Ridiculous nonsense shocking abuse of regular guests that is....speak to the consul is my advice bloody cheek!!.....bah humbug....

Nah! Pay the 100 Bht and then piss in the pool!!!!!

    sure, they do it already.....

  2. Sterling silver is 95% pure (usually stamped 950). Real silver in bars or ingots is 99.99% pure and is the only purity level for investment purposes.

There is also another type of silver alloy called "German Silver". This is often sold as "silver" in China and Korea - but please know that "German Silver" contains NO silver and is actually an alloy of copper and zinc plus that LOOKS and feels like silver.

Well that was an interesting session on Gold

    Does anyone know about Silver.

My daughter wants us to buy a couple of Chains.

But i am hesitant as they try to tell you its solid Sliver, but to me Stirling Silver is the real Silver.

Do they have any special number or anything to watch out for.

    Thanks.

rotweiler , here you are wrong.

Sterling Silver is always 925,(other stamps for silver are 800-835-900)

there is no stamp for Silver in 950.

950 is the official stamp for Platin

  3. 90 grams of (real) 585 comes to 52,65 grams real gold.

the value will be around 65000 baht-but nobody will pay this to you-not in thailand and not elsewhere.

usually gold dealers will offer about 50%.

  4. let's be honest - who gives a <deleted>? samui is dead, and bangkok airways has alot to do with it.

    ..............

bkk air want (iirc) 3380THB one way for the very cheapest fare and up to 5000THB+.....

and the locals and expats wonder why the place is so dead......

you certainly have no idea about Koh Samui at all. Hotels 3*+ are overbooked. Samui is in relation amount of hotels/tourists the best booked place in the country.

  5. Hope the Lomprayeh CAT operates to a more reliable schedule these days.It would be interesting to know

how long NOK would consider delaying a departure, in order to collect late CAT passengers.

Why should NOK Air wait for some passengers from a late ferry?

Thats the ferrys and passengers problem-otherwise "No Show"
