  1. I have used the apple store online many times in Thailand over the last few years, I have never been charged duty and items have always arrived quickly.

Sometimes items come from Singapore, but recently I have seen some items have been shipped from Shanghai.

I kind of feel bad for the apple stores in Thailand, but I've had too many problems buying hardware in Thailand, I like my stuff in boxes that are sealed by the manufacturer and not opened by anyone else before I get them.

  2. Most Thais seem to get let off with a slap on the hand, and a 500 baht fine, even for serious offense like assault, and armed robbery.

This statement is, of course, completely untrue.

Some people in any country get initially charged with a serious offense that is then reduced to a much lesser offense and end up with a small fine. Some people get charged with murder and end up walking away free when the charges are dropped, but that does not mean the sentencing is improper.

Thailand has sentencing that is similar to many European countries for offenses other then drugs.

  3. Pulling the plug and rotating 180 degrees sounds stupid, but often works. However if you have a printer or monitor attached then the "tickle" could be coming from them via the metal case on the computer as they will be grounded to each other.

Really all you need to stop the tickle is a wire from the case of the computer to a real ground, ideally a copper rod sunk in the ground. If the case is at the same potential as the ground then it should be impossible to get the tickle.

  4. In the midst of all the arguing about who did what, lets not forget that a young man is dead. It's a tragedy in any event.

In this case, whilst the accident MAY have been caused by a foreigner, the DEATH was probably caused by not wearing a helmet. Any driver, Thai or Farang would feel bad at being accused of causing the death of a motorcyclist who was not wearing a helmet.. after all, that's what helmets are for.

  5. Teh Fxxx...considering how easy it is out here to grab some flange at anytime of the day or night why would you get onto your 11yr old step daughter ?

Hope this lad has an "accident" in the holding cells and never makes it before a judge.

If he went out and paid an underage girl and had what appeared to be consensual sex with her, it would still not be okay!! I expect he didn't because he is a sociopath and the fear and pain that his step daughter went through on a daily basis would be a huge turn on for him. He undoubtedly got real pleasure from lying to his wife as well, and I'm sure hurting her was part of the game. I hope he rots in prison.

You need to try and get on the jury... to hell with the evidence !! Who needs it.? You are one sick puppy.

  6. I dont think that they meant to offend anybody. This stupid 'fingers' sign is used by just about all young Thai women when posing for a quick photo at any time. They just cannot help thrusting their two fingers up. Its their way of saying "hey look , its me"

For anyone looking to make a story out of it, i can only say "You obviously do not know young Thai women"

Most Thai women don't pose or make V signs in front of a dead body!

Most Thai women don't work around dead bodies every day !!

  7. Actually, there is a more serious side to this story.

The manufacturers of the coffee probably didn't tell the buyers what the active ingredient was, which would lead the buyers to assume that it's some sort of natural product and could lead to people overdosing on the active ingredient.

Sildenafil absolutely tastes disgusting, I'd assume that there could not be more than a few grams at most in a cup and it still be drinkable by any normal person.

Whilst normal Viagra comes in 50mg and 100mg tablets.. a person who has no real erectile dysfunction and simply wants to take it for a "boost" can get a noticeable effect with as little as 10-15mg of the stuff. Which would lead me to assume that in order to ensure the customer benefits from a couple of cups of coffee there would need to be 7-10mg of Sildenafil per serving. If a regular guy drunk 10 cups of coffee per day (which he might when he noticed the effect) then it's potentially dangerous to the wrong person.

  8. All I see in that photo is 2 Thai girls in a photo doing what every Thai girl does when the see a camera.

The real question lies in why the photo is being taken in front of a body.

IF the dead body is of a man considered to be a hero then it's just possible that they want their photo taken with him and see this as their last chance.

Of course, for so many people, the fact that they may be of the muslim faith seems to change everything.

The suggestion by many is that they are happy to see this man dead and the photo is a celebration of his death, if that's the case then it's truly disgusting.. however for my mind it's inconceivable that anyone could choose to be a nurse and think that way. The only evidence put forward for that theory is that they are possibly muslim, and it's not evidence at all of their intent.

Actually the person with the camera is the one who needs to be investigated.. show a camera to any Thai girl and they will pose in a similar manner.. if the background seems tasteless then consider that for a nurse it's just their normal workplace.

  9. Always a lot of confusion on the issue of residence permit (which is used as proof of address).

Some offices require it for buyer and seller, some require it for just buyer.

Some office accept a copy, some need the original.

Some office need the signature in blue ink, some don't care.

There IS NO clear answer, it varies depending on where you are and which way the wind is blowing, to be safe have a original residence permit (or letter from your consulate) and sign in blue ink.. then you can't go wrong.
