  1. Apparently Irrawady Magazine is reporting in its Burmese edition online that some one from the Burmese Embassy managed to visit the two suspects in the Samui court prison with a lawyer. The magazine claims that the visitors found that the two suspects were green with bruises from police beatings and said they had been forced to confess to the murders. It also claims that the suspects had been injected with something like a date rape drug which made them highly malleable and suggestible. The magazine said the visitors found them to be still dopey from these injections.

If only it can be confirmed, it would be a major development. Just missing UK to step in and we are on the way for a major embarrassment and lose of face for the Royal Thai Police. Well deserved RTP!

Go go go, keep it up!!!

    35,000 people signed and growing...

Will RTP charge us all? What a bunch of clowns, pathetic.

    Signed... come find me.

  2. The police have interrogated...

This news report just come in from the Daily M.

    Quote

"Thai police investigating the murder of two British backpackers tried to bribe a taxi driver to give false evidence against a football team then beat him up when he refused, it was claimed today.

Pornprasit Sukdam claims he was offered 700,000 baht (£13,300) if he agreed to be a fake witness to events leading up to the deaths of David Miller and Hannah Witheridge in Koh Tao.

But when he turned down the offer, he claims the officers became angry and attacked him before releasing him on Monday evening".

A Sickening read! He is one of the alleged players from the football team.

  3. I regrettably found myself in the khao San area back in 2002 for a couple of nights. I got sick to death of hearing "No.. i'll pay you this i'll pay you that".

One Guy from Israel waving his fist shouting No No No... i give you 7 baht.... He was buying a plastic bottle of water telling the shop keeper No! i paid 7 baht yesterday not 8 baht. His attitude made me feel sick.

I have never been back to that area since

  4. Strangely, these lunatics manage to get a girlfriend whistling.gif

I like to read Daily Mail online as it pretty much covers all the mayhem that is going on in the world. I would't be far wrong if I said that 90% of all the reported stories of Burglars, thieves, rapists, murderers,ex cons, previous record for beating the crap of ex girlfriend, control freaks, previous known history of jealousy, liars, cheats, steroid users, drug users I may of missed a few..... But they all have girlfriends facepalm.gif

A few years ago when i read such stories of a girl victim I used to a have some sympathy, ask me now if I do and the answer is No.

It has always been and I think it always will be that girls/women seem to like the bad guy. So now when I see a picture of a young girl or woman that has been the victim of domestic violence or worse killed by her thug violent sociopath looking boyfriend I tend to think you got what was coming.

If you were dumb enough to be involved with guys like this in the first place then you have no one but yourself to blame. Always amazes me that although the wool has been pulled over her eyes where are her friends judgments?

But her so called friends are also to dumb to ask questions or look further into his previous history and say Oh yes he's lovely.

Today they just released info of Michael Adebolajo's ex-girlfriend Justine Ridgen .... What a smart women you are.

Women don't want the good guys! I have a good friend who is female and she has told me her heart is for a mutual friend of ours. Arrrr Nice you think.... Well this mutual friend already has a girlfriend but has cheated on her 50 odd times. So there we have one dumb stupid girlfriend who is either completely blind or just plain stupid and one girl friend of mine who's heart is for a lying cheat. Her answer to my questions and me pointing out a few things... " It will be different with me" We are doomed good guys smile.png

  5. Long post but I did actually read it all.

If you feel passionately about something, keep on posting.

You`ve put your viewpoint across well enough and I agree with most of what you say, no idea on Russia.

Doubt you`ll get any thanks but you might make some people think about how they travel.

    Nothing wrong with that.

    IMO.

    Thank you for listening seasia,

Unfortunately my words have fell upon ignorant deaf ears,my campaign has been of a verbal approach and I have always kept quiet when the posts roll in on these sad events.

My final button was pushed about five months ago when a Canadian traveler found out that I had been living on Koh phangan 10yrs and have traveled pretty much all of it apart from the places I have no desire to visit (Pattaya) will give you an example.

We got talking about this and that and a long pleasant chat went on for 45mins. He then tells me he is heading to Bangkok from Phangan and what is the best way in my opinion to go. I will try and keep this short but short the advice was not giving him every possible approach with all the times all the boat companies etc better in my opinion that a travel agent.

I then told him of my research results and knowing what I know after 10 years of reading and seeing such stories as this one,I would avoid every way you can not to take the bus.

Seriously from the moment he sat down we talked for a wasted 1hr 15mins !! Why I say wasted is that after hearing stone cold facts from somebody who knows what he is talking about he says " Ummm I think i'll take the bus" !!!

I looked at him and said you F***king idiot!! I am telling you now how ever long your here for don't ask me anything!! Not one single thing, infact Don't even bother talking to me you ignorant P***k.

I had already noticed people that I know pretty well who come here for 2-3 months during our conversation giving that here we go again look I mentioned in my last post. When in my raised voice I told Mr who knows better Canadian guy what I thought about him, again people were shaking their head for <deleted>'s sake.

My morals in life have always been to never give up.... But I have on this one... My actual last thing I said to Mr Canadian was I hope your bus does crash and the last thing you get to think of is ME telling you not to take the bus (It was said with a smile) .

I won't be offended if you don't read all of it.... Just nice to get something of my chest that has been brewing for some time... Sorry it's directed your way... Take care seasia

  6. Why is the name of the bus company always missing from these "news" stories? Seems like that is pretty important info, especially when choosing which bus company to travel with.

The answer my friend is you avoid all of them. I like many on here are sick of seeing a reading this everyday.

I sold my car some time back now so when it comes to the 90 day visa trip I hire a car.

I rent a car which always is very nice car for a 24hr period for 1500 baht. I even put my motorbike on the ferry and ride to Suratthani to avoid ever being on a bus. I can also arrange car to be delivered to the port if I wish at extra 1000 baht.

I have not traveled on a bus in over 10 years and this will remain the case for as long as I am in Thailand. (Which at present I am not)

I tried to do a campaign to alert travelers of the dangers of buses to put them in the picture of how many were killed on the roads in Thailand. Of course nobody who I try to enlighten has a clue that the figures are what they are,and also if you have done your homework the figures of 27,000 Is alarming, but unfortunately those figures are only the half of it.

I did several in depth searches and found that the number published is only the dead at scene. In this tragic case above it states 1 dead,if any of those 25 injured die it will not show in the stats.

You also then have to take into account that approximately 50% of the drivers do not have any licence or insurance,so if the deceased at scene has no insurance it also does not count. The more realistic figure is 87,000 killed on the roads in Thailand.

Of course this means that in general Thai roads are a disgrace and should be avoided at all costs, but this is simply unavoidable not to ever use the roads whilst either living in Thailand or here just for vacation but I prefer to know that I am in control of my vehicle myself, and will take my own risk and not put into the hands of a Yaba Drug crazed Thai driver who don't give a monkeys to his passengers lives.

I gave up my campaign because the people I was trying to educate and maybe save their lives looked at me as being depressive when I would mention that another bus has crashed and X amount of people have been killed. The only news they wanted to hear was "Whats the weather going to be like"

I gave up.... Simple as that, getting told I am depressive from so many people got to me and I thought you know what <deleted> it!! You try to be helpful and the only thanks you get is people talking behind your back saying here he goes again.

But I am sure you have all (you tubed) what goes on in Russia!!! Now that's a place I don't even fancy walking as a pedestrian never mind driving... If you have not viewed what goes on then you should they simply have not got a clue and makes Thailand look pretty normal.

  8. Please do not exaggerate the numbers even more than has been of 30,000.

Numbers to this event are written by someone who can not count and gets a bit excited at seeing a lot of people. Numbers have declined over the years and do vary from month to month.

Guide books also put this figure of 30,000, one I read a while ago 40,000 laugh.png. But I think we all know about guide books, written by idiots that spend 1 day at a place!

Koh Phangan don't get 30-40 thousand tourist all month never mind one night! More accurate numbers would be 5,000 to 10,000 again depending on which month. ( And no I also did not count them) but have showed my face 24 times over the years.

Without even going to the full moon party I would have to agree that the numbers cannot be 30,000 to 40,000. Here is some basic maths.

Raja list the passenger capacity of Raja2 and the similar ferries that they run to Thongsala as 350 pax.

    times 5 sailing out a day = 1750

Assume the same capacity for the other major ferries (Lomprayah 7 trips, Seatran and Songserm 4 each) = 5250

that gives a total of 7000 people a day which the ferries can move on and off the island (plus the haad rin queen)

so even if the ferries were only carrying people who ant to go to the full moon party they would be fully booked for 4 days after the party to get everyone off the island, assuming 30,000 people at the party, other than December 31st the passenger only ferries are never fully booked for more than a day.

You're forgetting the dozens of speedboats that dart to/from KPG from Samui all night, each laden with at least 30 pax. I drove past the departure point (Petcherat) before midnight recently & saw around 50 minibuses hogging both sides of the road delivering "Moonies" from all over Samui who were meandering across the road in total darkness...

Don't start to try and make the numbers up mjj. How many have you been to ? where do you live ?

Muppets like you and Toscano ( shocking disgrace) and BSD quoting "I was told".... believe everything you hear BSD have never been because you prefer to sit in a bar where you can throw money at a girl who tells you " Your handsome man" Truth being if you ever went to the party you would never get a girl and moan, about 99% of the people are having a great time.

Yes it gets messy at times....... But just read what's going on every night!! in places I mentioned before.

Just for once stop and listen to someone who knows what he is talking about. Or even still go to next month's start counting them and give me a bell.

    KP,

How many have I been too and where do I live? Sounds like you are offering to fight!!! :-)

I've been to the FMP about 10 times. Mind you that was over 9 years ago.

I currently live on Samui. But then again both could be lies as this is a forum!?!

Now, the numbers, 100,000. The actual number is irrelevant (yes, I just plucked it out of thin air), because what this about - and it seems to be a recurring theme - is that too many people seem to want to stop progression. Yes, nice places will get busier and busier. But that doesn't mean people should just look at the negatives, positives come of it too.

Take the FMP, now if xxxxx number of people can go and have fun (without the rape and pillage) why can't people just let them get on with it??

I first came to Samui in October 2003. I loved it. To me it was a tropical paradise, but to someone who came here 10 years earlier than me, they may have thought it was ruined because Tesco was here.

Fast forward to today and yes, Samui has changed a lot, but I still love the place. It's just different than it was.

I think I'm right in stating that Thailand had over 1,000 islands. For those that want to find the Leo 'Beach' setting, I'm sure it's here somewhere.

Also if any of us were working for the Thai Govt and we knew tourists would pour money into the country - wouldn't it be a good idea to build up the biggest islands instead of 100's (making figures up again) of little ones?

Sounds to me your a bit paranoid.... I cant see anywhere in my words where i'm trying to pick a fight !

Believe me If I wanted to pick a fight my message and words would be deleted in 2 secs. And I would get a ban for being a naughty boy ( said in a sarcastic tone) .

I wasn't even going to post the last message because I started to think why am I bothering when people simply will not listen.

You are closer than I thought as in location, I was wrong to maybe thinking your one of these sad Bar stewards that write and moan about KP when their sitting in a girl bar paying for sex which is illegal and think Haad rin is Koh Phangan.

Haad Rin is not where I live and of my 24 parties attended 18 odd were built up quite quickly, but now I may wonder down 1-2 times a year depending of the company of friends I may be with.

But even with your 10 attending parties ( You must be mad) giggle.gif I stick to my guns ( Nope that's not suggesting a fight) your numbers are off.

But you know MJJ.... I really don't give a toss what anyone says or thinks.... i'm done on this topic....I'm done reading s*** from 90% on here that are drinking them selves to death and throwing money at someone who tells them they are handsome man and I love you long time, and 89% of those on here fall for it. Over and out ! enjoy Samui follow your dream and never worry what anybody else says or thinks.

  9. ...

BSD you cant count either.... No way is there 35-40 thousand... Have you been down on one of those months where you say 7,000 ? Now if you say yes it looks pretty busy RIGHT?

So now please tell me where the hell do you 5-6 times this number ? And when it's a high tide month you then take into fact you loose half the beach.

Christmas, New year and July and August are busy ones 40,000 !!! Get real after 2-3 days Haad Rin is empty as is the rest of the island 8 months of the year.

  11. Yes when I first went to Koh Phangan in 1987 it was wonderful. Great atmosphere and a refreshing contrast to "touristy" Koh Samui ! Fast fwd to the present day and I refuse to go as I don't want the memories of many visits in the late 80's trashed.

What has become of Koh Chang is an even bigger travesty.. When will the Govt learn that people come looking for unspoilt tropical paradise.. Not 7/11's , Indian tailors and f**kin house music/rap/hip hop !

But how do you cater for 100,000 tourist wanting to go to an unspoilt paradise??

Do you work for TAT ?
Please do not exaggerate the numbers even more than has been of 30,000.

And of those 24 times I have only had small problem myself by a very drunk Thai guy who told me to leave the beach. I stayed of course as a skinny out of his face yaba freak don't tell me S***!.
I read everyday the mess that goes on in the likes of Pattaya Phuket. So if you lot on here are for Ban the FM party, then lets ban Pattaya and Phuket and everywhere that serves Alcohol while your at it . Alcohol is the problem not the party or the people who attend.
The only bit that he got bang on was the unfortunate rape cases that as he points out mostly go un reported.
But if only girls/ women could judge that they are talking to a crazy idiot it might happen less. Lots of girls come here and like to be with the locals. Some of these boys are 5ft high no teeth, legs the size of a westerns arms, speak very bad pigeon English, Dreadlock hair the list could go on. Girls seemed to like to be someone who is different.
If only girls could realize and judge that the person they are talking to is a waste on this planet, these unfortunate things would be far less. And that is not a Thai bash..... We have these tragic case's all over the world, when a man has a known past for violence, alcohol issues, hard drugs the list could go on..... But the Women/Girls are attracted to them.

    Geez, that's almost tempting haha.

    Amulet is not included though.

This car is actually for sale in England at £138,990, which is substantially more than 330,000 MYR, in fact about 650,000 before any freight or taxes. The Ad seems bogus.

  13. So are they going to ban Alcohol in airports also ?

Some one we all know very well is on her high horse over freedom of speech..... Well where's my freedom in able to having a smoke while waiting many hours at an airport.

Why is it we all know Alcohol is the root of all evil, but this is permitted at all times at airports and during the flight.

I know who I would rather sit next to...... Someone just come out of a smoking room than someone on Alcohol any day !!

So you anti smokers who like a drink.... Let's take your rights away also... No Alcohol in all airports! Why should you sit and be able to consume something that kills and destroys life's everyday but we can not.

And comments about it being a passive evil killer will be ignored!! Just better air circulation is needed and if it says "smoking room" this way only..... I suggest you turn around

ps... That's to you also English Airports !! Ban smoking... Ban alcohol.... make it fair pleasethumbsup.gif

Your freedom to smoke stops where my health starts Bud. And as usual, another smoker in a state of denial about diffusion of smoke from smoke rooms to surroundings.

Is it difficult for you to undestand that when someone is having a drink that is not the same as someone smoking? The drink , unlike smoke is not forced down the throats

of the non drinkers. And its not the smokers health , its my health that Im concerned about. By the way when a reeking smoker sits near me , I get up and move.

I am convinced based on all I have seen that most smokers are in one of two categories:

    1) Those who smoke around others and simply don't care one iota about their habit and its effect on others.

    2) Those who have rationalized the fact that second hand smoke in small doses is "not that bad for you", and thus effectively want to tell others how much second hand smoke is ok for them to inhale.

Either way, there is some serious arrogance there. I'll decide for myself and my family how much of a carcinogen I think is ok to inhale.

In fairness, I'll mention that there are people who are very considerate with their habit, and they must be recognized. That is really all anybody asks.

What gives you the right to tell me I can not do something just because you don't like it?

I am sure Bud!! there are many things that you do that are not to my liking!

So don't you ever go telling me my freedom stops because YOU don't like something Morrobay!

  14. Thai at Heart, you are right and that is were the problem is, it is greed and and intolerance by non smokers.

...or is it the arrogance and overreaching sense of entitlement of smokers?

Well, one could look at it from a purely financial perspective. By excluding all smokers from any business, you are basically discounting to remove 25 to 35% of any country's population. Why there cannot be a happy medium to provide for ALL I have never really understood. I am a smoker, who tries his best not to annoy anyone, and that's fair enough. But, to not cater for 30% of all the passengers going through a building, with restricted access due to security, seems a bit stupid to me.

I am all for bars, since the owner, owns his business, to choose whether they allow smokers or not, and in that situation, the bar tenders and employees should have a choice whether to work there or not. The idea that in the modern day it is absolutely impossible to separate bars and restaurants so that people can smoke should they wish, and non smokers avoid smokers should they wish is absolutely non-sensical to me, it is just a matter of cost of ventilation and the such.

But then again, 100% of all passengers need a p**s potentially, in the airport, and yet they didn't cater sufficiently for them either. Just make better rooms, with better filters and ventilation systems. Isn't that a better answer than trying to BAN it all together, since there will always be someone trying to sneak one somewhere.

    You misread.

I have been consistent in that as long as smokers do not affect me, I don't care what you do.

So, giving you a special room with better ventilation or outside smoking areas is great...as long as it doesn't affect me.

I don't want to smell you 2nd hand smoke. It's that simple. Nothing to do with a health concern. I just find breathing in what you breathed out pretty disgusting.

I don't think I am being unreasonable in my requests, but smokers seem to want special treatment and some sort of entitlement.

Next time you kiss a women just remember where her mouth has been, and exchanging all that mouth slaver bah.gif .... And I presume you wear a face mask at all times ?... Or are City fumes , car pollution and all the other crap floating about quite expectable to your nose.

  15. I am a smoker and I know that smoking is bad for my health as well as others who maybe around me. I try to find a quiet place alone without anyone else around when I choose to smoke.

You are a considerate smoker, rare among those who choose to puff away whenever, and wherever it suits them.

If all smokers were courteous enough to walk outdoors to enjoy a quiet smoke, away from others, there would be no need for authorities to introduce strict 'No Smoking' laws. But sadly, there are too many arrogant smokers who spoil it for those around them, thus forcing the authorities to introduce and to apply the regulations

    Smokers are now a minority....a dying breed...literally.

Rather than come into this forum crying, demanding, begging for a fair go, why not show how big and tough you really are, and quit the habit. You'll then be able to smell the roses and actually taste how good Thai food really is.

I presume you at least take part in at least one of these..... Drive a car, a glass of wine ,a beer ,ladies of the night (which you pay for which is illegal).. Ride a motor bike ,fly in a plane ( Oh dear big fumes) .

The list could go on.... Now as of today give all these up and lets see how big and tough you are giving up your habits.

And if you say you do not take part in any of these activities then I hope your not close enough to me to catch my passive smoke, because that means i'm sitting in the company of a very boring person.

The bit you just do not seem to get is taking something away from someone and telling you, you Can Not have it.. is Wrong!! What next are we being told we can not have.

This time in does not affect you so it's great.... What ever your craving or habit may be... You can not have it! Be more open with your views and fair..
