The cases relate their roles in the siege of the official residence General Prem Tinsulanonda, the late president of the Privy Council, about 13 years ago.

Seems odd Thai PBS isn't sure exactly when this happened, yet later it gives the exact date.

Is there a statute of limitations on something like this - how has it taken so long to come to court?

Ah, impossible.  Perfect Thai but not from Thailand.  Impossible.  Perfect Thai also would mean she looks perfectly like a Thai and was born in raised in Thailand.   I hear this all the time from Filipinos.....perfect English.

    yea, no way

    Oh, I don't know.

I worked for a company who had a promotional stand for Children's Day at the Utapao Naval Base.

We needed to go in a couple of days early to set everything up.

The soldier on security at the main gate asked the Thai girl sitting next to me why a ferang wanted to come in. She explained in Thai that I also worked for the company and I was part of the group.

He was satisifed and let us all in.

Only the "Thai" girl wasn't - she was Chinese and happened to work for the same company. Fooled the military anyway.

So an actual report of a real incident is ridiculous to you.  I only brought this up MarcB because of the recent issues with wanting to show a passport when paying bills at Tesco Lotus.  This is a store I frequent also weekly, and have never had an issue until today.  The cashier showed me where he needed to input the passport info on the screen, and no it did not have anything to do with my Big C membership rewards card, as all the information was on the screen, its how he knew my name.  I just sent Big C a message asking why this was done today.  The receipt has the cashiers number on it and it was also scanned and attached to the e-mail I sent.  Maybe I will get an answer.

Will you get a reply? I'm all ears - well both really.

It sounds like you show a passport to get a big C card and the Big-C computer is set to re-ask for new passport number every 5-10 years or after it has expired (after-all they do expire).

They may well have entered the passport expiry date when the Big C card was applied for, and now its showing as expired.

A new passport number and probably good to go for another 10 years until the next passport expiry.

That happened to me in Big C last year.

I persuaded the customer service staff to enter my pink ID card details instead, as that number stays with you for life.

I think to be fair we need to reserve judgement until we know all the facts clearly.

There is one thing I find peculiar with your comment. My first question must be if you are blind?

If not, have you been taken a look at the picture that was attached to the news story? Reserve judgement? Are you serious?

You can see where the pickup is standing and where it therefore has been driving. So , the person driving the motorbike made a head on collision in the middle of the wrong side of the road. You actually do not have to be very clever to make a judgement out of that.

But please, do not let me disturb. Go get all your facts you can find to get a clearer picture. ????????

While looking at the picture I can see the result.

It's unnecessary to resort to rudeness by asking if I'm blind, and getting all the facts to get a clearer picture.

In the report it quotes only the pickup driver: 'He said that the couple were riding with another couple on another motorcycle when the deceased pair rode into his lane and there was a collision.'

There is another possibly (although unlikely) that the motorcyclists could have been driving in the same direction as the pickup, but in front of it. The motorcycle driver could have braked hard for whatever reason and the pickup ploughed into them at high speed.

Hence my comment about waiting to know the facts regarding the accident, not just making a judgement on an horrific accident and the statement of the driver alone.

Lovely word, KYBOSH in Scrabble too.

Anyway, another advantage of Thailand over Vietnam is that they have one of the best Scrabble scenes in the world if not THE best.

Even if I failed to beat a 15 year old Thai in the Khon Kaen N/E Scrabble championships at the weekend!

    Rooster

PS. My brother who has lived and worked in Vietnam for 10 years can't wait to retire - and come and live in Thailand where he has a condo in Bangkok.

Is that your older or younger brother - Rooster60 or Rooster58?

God, I always dream of doing that; appearing at my own cremation. The look in their eyes. lol

I wonder if doing it via a hologram is possible? We read of dead rock stars appearing on stage using that principle.

Now that would have entertainment value. A message from beyond the grave.
