Logically that should mean consumption of alcohol must be decreasing too. Incredibly, the brewing companies don't appear to be worried by this at all.

TAT to the rescue! And using the tried and proven Misunderstanding Tool: He did not make a public announcement, he announced an idea publicly!
Ha ha, yeah!
Plus I think 'Misunderstanding Tool' - tool should be used in the broader sense of the word.

Their efforts proved in vain, however, as the Thonburi ro Ratchaburi express bore down.......Naew Na called it an Iron Horse.
Reminds me of old black & white westerns, where the phrase 'Iron Horse' was used by the Indians (not the TAT type).

Given the alleged success of the "Eat, Shop, Spend" scheme last year, is he saying it should only be used to encourge Thais to visit Thailand?

I always wonder who these protest are targeting, all the signs are in English. I live in a pretty affluent area and the majority of my neighbors can hardly speak English, never mind read it.
Perhaps they're expecting the foreign press will report it, hoping to embarass the government into action?

Probably find health authorities woud not allow recycling to farm animals due to risk of bacterial growth and contamination and infecting animals.
Is that serious? I'll stand corrected, but I seem to remember animals being fed slops years ago?
