  1. Thanks for the replies so far, but again, I was hoping that there was somekind of way to send my stuff in a less costly way (by sea and not by air). I definately don't need it to be delivered express. EMS is fast, but quiet expensive (1000 baht per kilo or so from what i gathered)..any other suggestions??

  2. Hi,

The search function doesn't seem to be working, at least from my computer right now. I'm trying to get some info on parcel costs from bkk to usa (san fran). We will be moving there soon and would like to send valuables that we can't fit in our suitcases. Not sure yet exactly how much, but less than 1 cubic meter , maybe around 30 kgs in weight. I'm not too concerned about how long it takes to get there but I'm willing to pay a premium to make sure it does get there (insurance or tracking system). Nevertheless, I would like to keep costs down to a few thousand baht. Can anyone be kind enough to give me some info. on what my options are? Thanks

  3. Thanks. Info from link was very useful. Will go for Ivermectin and eventually borax and hydro mix if I don't get good results.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy Ivermectin in Bkk? Preferably eastern Bkk (Bang na, Onnut) since I live in Prawet district, but anywhere ok. I'd like to go tomorrow morning so if I don't get amnanswer before then, I think I will go to Chula uni (at Siam) to see if they carry it. Thanks.

  4. Thanks for your reply. I'm sure giving chemical treatment (such as ivermec) to any dog breed can be harmful in the long run but... I'm not sure I will get around going across town to get the different solutions. mix, etc. Was hoping to go for a one stop solution, ivermec or other if anyone has got any other sugestions.

    Thanks again B)

  5. Hi,

My dog (bull terrier breed) has recurent demodex problems. For the past 2 years we bring her to the vet at least once a month, often several weeks in a row. We manage to keep the demodex under control that way. It's still present, never totally desapears, but if no medecine is given it becomes really nasty and dog loses hairs, gets secondary skin infections etc. Problem is that those visits to the vet end up being costly. I'm thinking about buying the medecine in bulk and seld-medicating my dog. I've read that Ivermec usually does the job. Where can I get it in bkk? Universities hospitals? Is it really better to inject it or would it be ok to just give it orally? Any other drugs/medecine? Thanks in advance

  7. Hi,

I've been living in Thailand for 5 years. Currently working on getting my wife a CR-1 visa. Been sent packet 3. Asked to prove domicile in the US. What I do have: Bank account in the US with funds, expired California dirver's license with permanent address (my dad's address), copy of tax returns on which that permanent address has been used..that's about it. Would that be enough? My wife and I are planing on staying at my dad's house until we find lodging. I find it quiet strange that one who has been leaving abroad for many years has to prove US residency: I have obviously been a Thai resident for all that time. Please advice.

    Thanks

  8. Hi,

Was about to go to imm. with wife to apply for 12 month extension based on marriage (for the first time). Have about 6 weeks left on my 3 month non-o visa that i got form Thai consulate in Vientiane. Thai lady at imm. told my wife (over the phone) that I needed to have less than 1 month left on my current visa before i apply. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me since I read on this forum that it usually takes more than 1 month for a 12 month extension to be approved, so i would be 'visa-less' for some time then, depending on how fast my 12 month visa extension is granted. Could anyone please shed light on this?

    Thanks

  9. Thanks yall for your replies so far. My situation is a little tricky. Eventhough my 3 month notification on my non-imm B is still valid for another 6 weeks, I quit my job 2 weeks ago and depending on whether my employer has notify imm. or not, I might already be overtsaying right now. That's why I'm more comfortable leaving Thailand, paying fines at border if needed, and getting a single entry non-O based on marriage in Vientiane. Don't want to go hang around at imm. being possibly on overstay.

So, from what I undrestand so far, I will NOT be asked to show proof of funds at Thai embassy in Vientiane in order to obtain a single entry non-imm O, and I do NOT need to go with wife..correct? All i need to do is bring:

    marriage certificate,

    wife's copy of ID,

copy of her blue house book (copies are ok, correct? cos we don't have the original book here),

    copies of my passport pages,

    a couple photo IDs

a letter stating that we are indeed married

    .....anything else?

Once I got my non-imm O visa, the next step will be to go to imm. with wife and a few extra documents (account statements, pictures of us in front of our house, pictures of our marriage etc..) to get 12 month extension, correct?

I'm planning on going there as soon as I'm sure I got it right (this week) in order to minimize possible overstay fines, so ur answers are much appreciated

    Thanks

  10. Hi, I'm still trying to figure this out. Seems like my posts are being moderated and not all coming through so here i go again..

I'm currently on a non-imm. B that will expire very soon. Got recently married and would like to get non-o asap in order to minimise my overstay fines. I've had the 400 000k for less than 2 months in my acc. My main question is: Do the Thai embassy in Vientiane require bank acc statements in order to deliver non-o or are these statements only nedded for 12 months EXTENSION of stay based on marriage? Also, is my wife required to come to Vientiane or only required to come with me at imm. in bkk in order to get extension of stay for non-o?

    Thanks in advance :)

  11. If you have the 400k in bank 2 months you can go to Immigration office inside Thailand and obtain a one year extension of stay for 1,900 baht/photo. Will have to have wife with you, her ID card/home register, bank letter of account balance along with passbook/copies and some photos together at home with house number visitable in some and your passport/copies and departure card. You may have to draw a map to house. You apply and 30 days later get the full extension for the year.

Hi 'Lopburi' and 'Lite beer', thks for taking the time to answer, as always. Maybe I wasn't clear. I am currently on a non-imm B based on work, but this will expire soon. So does that mean that i would need to go to Vientiane first to obtain a non-imm O and then go to immigration in bkk to get a 12 month extension? If yes, is my wife required to come with me to Vientiane or does she only need to be there with me once i go to imm in bkk in order to apply for 12 month extension? If that is the case, do i need to show my bank statements/letter to show funds in Vientiane, or only at imm. in bkk for 12 month extension. I'd like to clarify that point since I've only had the money on my acc for 1 month or so but would like to proceed as quick as possible with non-O since my current visa will expire very soon. Thanks

  12. Hi,

I've looked around in the forum but I would like to make sure I've got it all right before planning my trip to Vientiane in order to get a non'imm 'O' visa.

So, I'm married to a Thai national. I need to bring:

    marriage certificate

    TM7 form

    my passport

    2 photo ids

    my wife's house registration book

    my wife's id card

    Questions:

-I need to bring proof of 400000 k in Thai bank account for at least 2 months. Does that mean I can just bring my bank book there (Vientiane) or do I need to bring an official doc (from Bangkok) that confirms that I have had this money in my account for the past 2 months?

-Does my wife need to come with me to Vientiane??

Am I forgetting anything? I probably should bring copies of relevant passport pages (first page, visa, arrival card..)..anything else?

Thanks in advance for your kind help

  13. Is it ok to let kids have the option of being of the '3rd gender' from an early age? By letting them have this option and labeling it as acceptable, aren't Thais promoting such abnormal behaviors? I'm not trying to put a moral value on such a choice here, but choosing to lives one's life as someone of the other gender carries heavy implications and consequences, be it physically (drugs, surgery, hormones etc) and psychologically, not to mention that those individuals won't have the possibility of raising kids. So, is it 'healthy'/ok that a significant portion of the Thai poulation (especially urban population) does not seem to (want to) fit the gender/body of their birth? What's your opinion?

  14. I have an electric bike that i use for short distances. Outside the main streets, it's fine.

To let you know, you can actually cycle through (around) part of Suan Luang park, as well as around the big reservoir next to this park (access is at the end of Chalorm praket soi 43).
