Yes Eek, i fully understand your concerns. You have a couple months to find out if this rules is indeed fact or false rumors. I wouldn't worry if i were you. If this end up to be a fact, you will most likely find another solution to stay in the kingdom if you desire so (ed visa for example, such as the one advertise on this forum, might become a solution for many people if this 4TV max thing is fact).
All the best

hi,
I've been living in Thailand (currently in bkk) for 2 years and i would like to relocate. Was thinking about CM but the polution there seem to be a major problem.
Would love to hear some feedback from folks living in or near krabi town.
I would need to find a small house in this area (with garden). How easy is it to find? Or an alternative in the mean time could be an apt rental (1 bedroom) in the city.
How would you rate the quality of life there?
My plan is also to open a business in the region, my 'target customers' would be more the backpacker and 'new age' type . I'm guessing Krabi town is a little too far from the sea (30 km i believe) for becoming a major touristic spot in the futur...what do U people who live there think? Is the city 'expanding' fast? Which specific area do u think has potential for becoming a bigger touristic destination (ao nang being already well developed)?
Thanks

On one Penang thread ( http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...&hl=remark), a few posters said they were on 3+ TV and no problems. Granted this was 2 month ago.
iyah, I noticed on one thread you have been in Thailand 2 yr now and that on another thread you are soon off to Vientiane for a TV. May I ask what visa you have had this last 2 year, and have you had any problems? Also wondering if your friend who gave you that info has any 'inside' connections on which to really base that comment on. All info valued. Cheers.
Hi Eek,
I had a non-imm. B visa (and work permit) before that. I'm currently on my first TV, will be going to Vientiane to get a 2nd one.
I don't believe my friend (who told me about this new regulation) has any particular 'inside' connections. Nevertheless, being a head teacher at a 'top' language school, i would assume that the info he gets is somewhat valid and that he gets it from 'the source'. I will ask him again next time i see him. But indeed, a lot of false rumours going around at times, that's why i was asking if anyone esle had heard about this supposely 'new regulation'.

Ya, i dont want to freak people out. Just what my friend told me about 1 month ago.

thanks guys

Will be going to Vientiane shortly for a TV run. Can anyone recomend a hotel with AC and cable tv under 20$, and rough directions to it. Thanks
-
..don't want to give wrong information but my friend who is head teacher at a well known language school has been told that one can only get 4 TV in a row. I believe he got this info directly from the immigration office. Has Anybody esle heard of this ?

Hi,
I'm looking for a fairly intensive Thai course starting next month (beg. of sept). Idealy with no testing/certificate and homework scheme..i just want to learn the language. Any recomendations? Thanks

Thanks for you answers so far. I will try to pick up all the usefull info i can get out of the forum's archives. I am actually a serious and dedicated person. I am definately willing to learn and put all the effort needed.
i was just hoping to get a few 'guidelines' to get started. For instance, is it a prerequisite to have 2 million baht capital? How do i go about getting a visa and work permit (is renting a shop in my name, getting a license and opening a business enough to qualify for a visa) ? ...will be looking for info in the archives
Thanks

hehe cheer up mate
Yes, the money will stay in my bank account until i have learned everything i need to learn in that field....and believe it or not, i did major in 'business economics' in college

Hi everyone,
Ok, so i've been living in Thailand for 2 years now and i'm seriously thinking about starting a business (opening a 'juice bar and more'). I'm pretty clueless concerning the whole process and obviously have a lot to learn before i can do this. If anyone of you would be kind enough to give me a few clues, that would be a start. I guess the first step is finding a place to rent (or buy?). Then i'm guessing that you have to create a company and buy some license...are foreigners allowed to own businesses ? I have a thai partner that i trust 100%. My budget is limited (under 1 million bhat). Is it realistic to want to start a business with that kind of money? Also would that qualify me for getting a business visa? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

Hi!
Posted this in the bkk section but havnt had any replies so far so trying my luck here:
Anybody know of a good health food/organic store in bkk? Been to Lemon Farm, Golden place and the likes but wasn't too impressed (those stores also carry brands like CP!!). I'm looking, amongst other things, for bulk spirulina..
Thanks
-
..there's no secret: cut down on refined carbs (noodles, bread, pizza), greassy food and sugar drinks (coke etc). Eat more fruits and vegetables (steamed is the best) and exercise a little. Cutting down on beer would be good to.
Good luck

Sorry for side-tracking, but where is lemon farm in Bkk?
Greetings from a stout CP-boykotteur!
There's a Lemon Farm not too far from where i live, it's on upper pahonyoltin near sena nikom, a little before Kasertsat uni. Dont bother going there tho, u will find as good or better selection of products in any smaller mom and pop's health food store .
Will post this in the 'health forum', maybe i'll have better luck.
peace

sweet, That should do it. Thanks for your time folks.

Thanks for your replies. Thats a start..but not exactly what i was looking for since i intend to make the journey by TRAIN from BKK. The main things i wanted some details on were the different steps from Nong Khai train station (i presume that's where i'd have to stop) to Vientiane, meaning getting to the border, getting a lao visa, entering lao, getting to Vientiane. Also, where do i have to go to get a TV in vientiane? And about how long do i have to wait in order to get my visa (i'm guessing about 1 or 2 days) Any info/help areciated . Thanks
Train fares and (aproximate) time tables would be good to.
Thanks again

Hi everyone,
I'm due to go get a new tv in vientiane shortly. Would like to know if anyone has posted a detailed explanation on how to proceed (train schedule, border crossing, then to vientiane, where to go to apply for tv, delay..). If yes, could you please give me a link. Otherwise if anybody is kind enough to give it a go, would be great.
Thanks in advance

Hi everyone,
I need to get a 30 days extension for my Tv. I live near Don muang airport, is there still an immigration office overthere where i could do that?
Thanks
Pollution
in Chiang Mai
Posted · Edited by iyah
Hi,
I was initially thinking about relocating to CM but after reading the alarming reports on the pollution levels there, i am now looking for alternatives. I've been to CM a few times before and really liked it. I never realised that the pollution there was that big of an issue.
If i were to live lets say 10-20km outside of the city, would i be experiencing the same problems/similar pollution levels?
Would be great to get some feedback from members living on the outskirts of CM to know how they are getting along there and wether or not they are suffering from the same pollution induced symptomes that many CM residents seem to suffer from during peak pollution periods.
Thanks
