“The bus driver, Somsak Chansong, said he lost control at the curve [just before the bridge] as it was raining heavily,” Col Anan explained.
I'm sure he was driving extra carefully too due to the heavy rain, right?

When are Thais going to wake up?! This would be hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic...

Wouldn't be surprised if he cancels now, thanks to Yingluck's press snitch...

I wonder why some of you even live here if you hate the country and people so much...

Best case scenario for him they finish the building and he lives next to a nice looking complex.
Worst case scenario, he "wins" and the building remains as a half-finished eyesore for the rest of his life.

But rather than dancing in traditional style, with its elegant arm movements...I don't think this reporter has been to a mor lam concert before... lol

It's a de facto marriage if they represented themselves as married. Thai law is very protective of a husband's honour.
Minimal, if any, jail time.
Mark my words.
If that's true, will Canada arrest and confine him?

It's a crime scene and they've got 2 clearly non-police photographers and a videographer walking around taking pictures for the freaking newspapers. Unbelievable.

Very sad that it all came to this after 10,000 baht. May he RIP.
Seriously doubt that was the extent of his troubles

It amazes me that people that worry about "face" so much would actually have the desire to go in public and embarrass themselves like this. They can't possibly believe anyone is buying this, DO THEY? They are only making themselves look like fools on public TV and in the media.

It's pathetic that these teens have been taught that this is an acceptable response to being insulted - so much so that they are stupid enough to tell the police and the media this explanation. Just pathetic.

RIP and condolences to family and friends, we won’t jump to any conclusions over the cause of the young men’s sad deaths, only white powder stuff found in their room and no one knows what it is doesn’t mean a thing in Thailand anyone could have planted it in the room if they had been snorting / taking anything I am sure they would have finished it off and not left it lying around in the room. For people to find.
Too bad the whole death thing got in their way before they were able to finish it? What a silly thing to say.

This is one of those things that doesn't even need to be reported, I think anyone who can read just assumes this to be true already.

It's too bad that both sides of the red shirt/yellow shirt divide in this country are equally inept and corrupt... time for a third color?

What do suggest - some sort of half-assed curfew ?I don't think I implied that at all. How about not walking alone at 3am? Be aware of your surroundings. If a motorbike is approaching you while you're walking, face them, let them know you see them coming, back away from the street... follow a well-populated path... follow a path that has an escape route... I mean these are all common sense things that one should do in any country in any city while walking alone at 3am, aren't they?
Furthermore, don't carry a giant purse with you... carry a clutch, and keep your cellphone and a few bucks in your pocket in case your purse is stolen.
There's like a million ways to avoid being the target of a crime, and minimize the potential damage done if a crime does happen to occur.

Call me old fashioned but I don't think any female should be walking home alone at 3am in any country... didn't everyone learn that in college? It's not a problem unique to Thailand, why does everyone try to make it seem like it is.

Yingluck earlier visited Krabi and Puket, both world-renowned tourist destinations on the shores of the Andaman Sea, where she had already approved plans to further develop and improve the area.
More development... yea, that's exactly what Phuket and the nearby islands need for sure. Good Lord...

RIP - very sad, and what a great mother.
Also, not to make light... but thumbs up to the driver as well who didn't flee the scene.
Is there any reason that he should have fled the scene? Seems like you have an issue with Thai people. Get over it.
For someone who has over 500 posts you sure don't seem to have read very many stories about vehicular deaths...

The fire was discovered by a security guard, who said he saw a spark leap from the big guitar neon sign that is known worldwide as the Hard Rock Cafe icon.
If that's true, he is the most alert security guard I've ever seen in this country. I think it's more likely a cigarette that was tossed in the wrong spot and now he's gotta cover his rear...

I know a lot of people who have claimed to have "won the lottery" in Thailand... yet they still seem no better off than before they won. I'm convinced you could have a lottery where the prize was winning your entry fee back and people here would still buy a ticket.

All you have to do is put the word "whitening" or "thin" on a bottle and people will buy it here.
I'm always shocked at how little about science and biology my Thai friends know, even things that should be common sense. No kidding, one of my friends here asked me if he could get tan by swimming at night. I said, no of course not, why do you ask? Apparently he had read in a Thai magazine that pool water can retain the suns rays or something, and then when you swim at night your body will absorb them and you'll get tan. OMG seriously?!
