  1. i'm just curious, in what circumstances anyone here has had to identify themselves. when i was in LOS , the cops seemed to mind their own business. I also did a fair bit of driving in the country, did get pulled over at any checkpoint, i went through about 10 (my girl reckons the cops could not be bothered trying to speak english with foreigners)

that said , the security dude/bouncer at scudo pub in bangkok, insisted on seeing my passport as ID , he did not accept my national id though it has my birthdate on it ???????????

  2. My girlfriend brought her dogs over from Australia. If you are flying in with the dogs you dont need an import permit. But if they are arriving by themselves you need an import permit from the department of livestock development. They need to have all neccessary vaccinations. The site below is a summary of import requirements to Thailand, its an Aussie govt site, but it has the Thai govt info

I would recommend you come over with the dogs, you cant really trust anyone to take care of your dog. You might get red tape clearing the dogs, you might have to be "smart" to clear them and avoid quarantine.

  3. From my expirience, most thais in tourist related businesses have enough english to make the transaction.

My thai is very basic , but i can understand enough to follow what someone is talking about. Its amazing having people talking about you, assuming you dont understand.

  4. My girl/future wife is Thai-Chinese, met her in Australia. Her family has been really good to me and so has mine to hers. Everyone around us thought they would be huge problems due to our different backgrounds (i'm east african)

  5. Hello Everybody,

Went over to the Thai consulate today to apply for my tourist visa to come to Bangkok over easter, heading back to consulate monday to collect passport.

The lady at the consulate mentioned i need to carry a yellow fever vaccination certificate with me to bangkok, i didnt make much of the statement then. Now i'm back home in my apartment and i cannot locate the certificate(i got the vaccine in '98)

Do i need the certificate to enter Thailand? i've been living in Australia for the past four years and not travelled to Africa or South America in that period. i have a Kenyan passport

    thanks guys

  6. I don't care what any of you guys think...I don't make friends with exotic types with funny skin color...they are sneaky, untrustworthy and they eat strange food...

dude! This is the funniest post this morning

I thought you being a Tutsi , you would only have problems with the hutu

    chill out man!

  7. Mmmm! It seems i'm the only African lurking around here, by the way Africa is too big to be thought as one entity....................... n'way

I'm making my first trip to Thailand over easter  to visit my girlfriend in BKK, i'm looking foward to sightseeing and the nitelife...........

Early to bed....early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise :o And he has got a girlfriend, so the streets of nocturnal delights will not interest him at all

mmmm the idea of closing of pubs is not great, i'll probably be checking out the more mainstream establishments like q bar and bedsupper. But its ironic my girl wants to go check out all the seedy establishment in bkk. She's lived a very sheltered life in bkk, plus she's spent past few years downunder..........Its gonna be strange walking into a bar with her , with all this bar girls working, we'll have a few drinks and have a laugh, we'll just look like a bunch of drunk tourists. You cannot tell she is thai , until she speaks , she's thai-chinese , but everyone thinks she's japanese :D

  9. I'm gonna pay dowry :o I told my girl , i'm gonna ship 200 cows to Bkk from East Africa, thats how we pay dowry back home. She said i dont have pay dowry. I see dowry as a symbolic gesture, its sad if it has degenerated to a blatant cash grab in Thailand.

  10. Hello Everybody!

I need some advice on what kind of visa I need to go to Thailand with,my thai girlfriend is moving back to thailand from australia to be with her family. I want to spend a year in thailand (2004) with work rights if possible. I'm an IT professional , but can also work in entertainment industry as a DJ or sound engineer.

Hypothetically could my girlfriends family business sponsor me for a work visa ??

I'll be applying for a visa from sydney consulate.

    I have a kenyan passport & 25 years old !
