Is there no mention of Visa Exemption holders? Now not sure where I stand:
Uk->thailand Feb 7th (visa exemption)
Visa Extension March 6th (to april 6th)
Border run by land at cambodia March 19th
Visa "expired" 19th April.I attempted to extended my visa (฿1900) on the 12th of April but was told to sit tight and check the news.
..... I believe I fall under the category "Aliens permitted to temporarily stay in the kingdon (all types of visa)"... however that section continues to talk about "90 day reports"

You should try to regularise your situation once the borders are open - i.e. return home or do a border run. 3 months should allow plenty of time for you to do it.
To confirm...
I (re) entered thailand on 19th of March. Normally I would have gone to immigration before the 19th of April, paid the money to extend 30 days. A border run for me would not have been necessary between 19th of March and the 19th of April, just paid extension.

Wow. I was not expecting this, seems almost too good to be true.
Rather than start a new thread can anyone just sanity check my situation:
Uk->thailand Feb 7th
Visa Extension March 6th
Border run March 19th
Visa expired 19th April...... I can just sit tight until 31st July.

Do you really think they will want everybody to leave on the 1st or rush to immigration to get an extension?
Extending the ministerial order is not solely based upon the availability of flights out of the country.
You also need to check to see what countries are still closed to entries.
I only read reliable sources of info.
Great help as always ubonjoe.
I thought the same thing, 1000s of people descending on immigration on the 1st of May. I think the issue is clarity, its seems obvious that when the ministerial order ends that there would be a grace period such as 7-10 days to leave the country or extend your visa its just that (afaik) has not been conveyed.
As someone that wants to stay longer I can sort of look at these extensions as a free extension.

I know - that's why I'm asking

I was rather hoping it was an automatic 30 days extension from your visa expiry, so 30 days from say April 15 expiry, would currently be extended to May 14th. Is that incorrect?
So from another post here it doesn't sound like that. It sounds that once the goverment announce a date you then go and get an extension. Likely with a grace period so they don't get 10000 people going day 1 to avoid fines.

The is certainly not an exact date since they will be extending the emergency before then and will announce a new date.
When it does end they will have a grace period to leave the country or apply for a extension.
Thanks.
That makes sense. If they announced say 1st of may one would expect say 1 week of grace to leave the country or apply for an extension (i would assume).

Hi All, I didn't want to a waste a new topic as my query is inline with the original topic.
My visa exemption expires on April 19th. I went to the immigration office today with my TM7 and docs to extend a further 30 days and was told that they're not doing this at the moment and try next month.
They didn't give an exact date but is it actually may 1st when we can get a 30 day extension again? or is that what they estimate. I'm just a bit concerned that I could be in a situation where they want to fine and leave a black mark on my record, so would be good to know exactly.
-
Do you think getting an extension will be like normal?

Won't they be needing the Health Certificate and proof of insurance?
Post above is correct. From 22nd you'll need these docs. I had a generic hospital medical cert for 80baht...they didn't even look at it.
They were also (it seemed) randomly selecting some people to download the monitoring app.
Protip (probably worth stickying)
.... If you think you'll have to be using this app.. I urge you to install it ahead of time as people were going mad that the app kept crashing, not working with their phone, WiFi being slow, Thai immigration had zero training in the app it seemed, the translation to anything other than Thai English is inconsistent etc.. It's called...
Aot Airport.
It requires you to fill a covid check, which asks for details you would expect to find on an immigration paper. Taking a photo via the app seemed to crash the app for many, take the photo of your passport first.

Hi all... I got back into Thailand this morning using poipet/aranyaprathet, 30 day stamp.
I went yesterday from Bangkok, got into cambo but had to stay over night "no exceptions". Even though the law could have changed overnight "no exceptions". So regardless if you are aserial border runner that effectively lives in Thailand you have to stay the night.
Immigration were strict and wanted all flight details.
If you go today. Stay the night. Return tomorrow you should be ok.... I would print all docs and make it neat as thais are fussy with scruffy docs.

anyone know if we can cross by land from cambodia to thailand? I dont want to fly to BKK as they are known for being difficult.
I can let you know tomorrow afternoon. I'm travelling overnight to get to Aranyaprathet.
As of now its open and no covid test health stuff or special insurance.
I read in the news that the magic number is 500 before they close the country completely, right now we've gone over 270. At this rate, next Tuesday... BID!
I actually went to a hospital yesterday, got a medical test where they just weighed me, asked my height and I paid 80 baht. In chiang mai they only treat if you have symptoms, no cert to say you have not got symptoms.
-
Im in Chiang Mai at the moment, i'm currently looking at a night bus then to aranyaprathet as it means I could be there for 8:00 tomorrow
-
I see the borders of myanmar are closed
Can you stil fly into Myanmar and Back out to thailand? and the same for Cambodia. I plan to go tomorrow and come back tomorrow.
UK Passport, have medical cert (not covid one as I didn't have symptoms), insurance
Update - for air into thailand you need a covid medical cert + a special insurance..... I think the only option now is cambodia by land

After about 4-5 years of learning on and off it was only about 6 months ago I really started to learn the tone rules a sin I know, I guess I never really took them that seriously
Now the obvious words I would pronounce fine as i'd heard them so many times the tones was just naturally be correct. Unless the word had a ๋ or a ๊ I was not 100% sure. Now I always understood probably based on accent maybe or structure of sentances etc, however I knew the thai hard to put in overtime to work out exactly what I meant and obivously were misunderstanding a few things.
I met a thai english student about 6 months ago and we started teaching each other (its working out well), and she would create a dialog for me to read. Now in regular conversation she wouldn't comment on my mistakes but as soon as I started reading the dialog she was in fits (laughing) as I was making so many mistakes. So I hit the books and worked out the tones rules which in fairness given that I can read newspapers etc fine didn'take me a long time however I still have to have a quick think before certain words that don't follow the regular tones rules etc.
my advice, it's boring and seems like an exhaustive exercise when you first start to read to learn this but it will really benefit you.

Nice bit of software to help you check what you're saying follows the right tones.

anki is great, i seriously would be lost without it. It's like my own little thailanguageapedia.

I find her really annoying.

That could be it actually, heard it a while ago.

สิ้นซอย
The first meaning is 'end of the alley/street etc'
but i got told a 2nd meaning by a thai once. Since then I asked a couple young thai people about the 2nd meaning and they don't know it and say that there is no second meaning.
I'm not going to say the 2nd meaning as it's sexual (or at least i'll wait until someone else says it )

I've asked two thai friends this now and they're not even sure...
"chinese takeaway"
it's almost like there isn't a word for it (not just the chinese part)

Enjoying it is the key I think.
I mean, at school (in the uk) we did french, we all hated french, we saw no point in learning french and as a result of 2 hours french a week about 20 words stuck.
Now, thai, i got about the same level in a few weeks (apart from read/writing and pronounciation).

Anyse, Logging into the WIki is only for those editing. At the moment pdf files are not available so until we update the course to get copies with Thai script I'm afraid it's cut and paste (update = update the phrases and sound)
i read all of these and posted a load of corrections off to catherine but they've still not been updated.
Great effort otherwise and is a little bible of mine for getting grammar down.

กล้วยๆ
but, i think this is a bit like kiddy talk, probably the english-english equivalent of "easy peasy (lemon squeezy))"
Thai govt and Immigration confirm second visa amnesty - no need to do 90 day reports or extend visas

Thanks joe. When you say apply for the 30 day extension, what date are you thinking of? ... 31st July
