  1. All the neighbouring country have to deal with nature sooner or later, so Sanyo is just escaping, did you think they don't have insurance? you are wrong they are a client with Loyd's the biggest in there field.

sure business is not going good for them so now take the money and run.

ooh it is easy to have a limited company and still have 100% control, but if i explain you i want some money to 5555

  2. What was he complaining about?

Workers popping pimples or picking their nose over the food, probably. What passes for hygiene in this country would make anyone scream.

I had lunch last week at Phuket's " 5 star" hospital. I watched in disgust as the cafe worker used a filthy rag to wipe the the tables and then use the very same rag to wipe the food from edges of the various dishes laid out so as to make them more appealing, I suppose . The rest of my lunch went into the garbage. God forbid I should ever have to have surgery in Thailand.

"Aesthetics over substance" should be THE official Thai motto, or is it already?

Sometime's i am not feeling good about called falang because the stupid rude things they do, there is a difference to be a diplomat or just a rude person.

My thai friend's call me falang isean because i blend in easy on every occasion, i live in Bangkok , but if i go upcountry my friends are surprised i never complain about the accommodation i sometime get, what not kill a thai will sure not kill me :) I am from Belgium btw

IMGHO Your Thai friends call you farang because you're white and they're racist. They aren't calling Japanese, Koreans or other Asians farang so please don't bother with the argument it means foreigner. It means WHITE.

Where I'm from referring to people by their skin colour is the height of rudeness, even considered quite racist by many.

When they refer to me as farang, in my presence-I call them on it and am not afraid to embarrass them, as I would any racist.

i think you still not get it and your remark is as stupid as your attitude, i geuss you dream about being " ein ubermench)

i think you better go back to school http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farang

  3. It serves you right for eating such rubbish.

In Thailand, eat good wholesome Thai food,

at a fraction of the price of the foreign rubbish

    and much more healthy!!

My last food poisoning from healthy wholesome Thai food is just 2 months ago.

Maybe I should eat more often at McD. :jap:

first rule to eat thai food on the street only eat where thai's eat i never been sick from the food, and i like to cook i only buy my meat and vegetable in the marked, maybe i am a cheap guy but i like my food fresh me girlfriend love's my cuisine

  4. Q

looks like a woman to me assuming its the one at the sauce bottle?

A Brit wouldnt be carrying a handbag and would have been wearing his obligatoty black socks.

in all my years in thailand i find germans to be the most undesirable rude people, not only to the thai,s. Btw i cant stand the brit lager lout types either they make me cringe!!! Maybe this old git is just angry at life, maybe he,s been scorched badly in the past by his tee rak, who knows but if i were there i would of stepped in and poured a bottle of sauce over his head to teach him some manners

In my time i am here i have met some nice people of all nationality, but they all live here and have a steady thai gf or wife, it only some tourist falang that disappointing me with there manners.

Like the 2 USA guy's i see yelling at a sweet thai waitress in a thai resto because they get there food served all at the same time, the girl was crying so i stepped in and ordered them out of the resto and i was glad to pay for there order, to see the waitress smile again. I wish people coming to thailand read something about the customs there is so much info on the net and in books. But i guess the wanted to be important but they went out with a long face. And i went out have a new sweet friend :P

  5. If this thread is about tourism then I don't think talking about how you can live out in Bang Na for cheap or find a hotel on the beach for 600 baht belongs as part of the discussion. Tourists don't know this. They look for hotels on the big travel websites. The backpacker types might be willing to be more adventurous but that isn't who TAT is courting. They're trying to court people who are going to stay in the 4 and 5 star hotels advertised on Expedia or Travelocity.

And in that sense, IMHO, TAT is cutting off its nose to spite its face. They keep comparing room rates to HK and Sing but Thailand doesn't have the same infrastructure and tourist attractions that they offer.

People who have been here too long or have been coming here too long forget what its like for your average person coming to Thailand for the first time on holiday.

When you book a top of the line hotel you expect world-class service and amenities. Thailand is just horrible in this regard and they don't even have a clue what they don't know about customer service.

I just had a family member in from the US on his first trip to Asia. He's an experienced traveler around Europe and the Americas (North, Central, and South) and he booked a 4-star hotel. When he went to check in they had botched his room reservation so after getting that sorted out they asked him to sign a guest card on which the only correct information was his name. The passport number, his address, his email address, his dates of stay were all wrong. He said, "That's my name but not my information." The clerk said, "It's okay, don't worry, it's not important." So he said, "Well, if it's not important, why do I have to sign it? What's the purpose of me signing it if all of the information is wrong?" Of course they had no answer so, in typical Thai style, every clerk had to come get involved, the manager of the hotel, phone calls were made, and so on until 45 minutes later they decided that he could just scratch out the information that was wrong and fill in the correct information.

And this is exactly the type of tourist TAT is trying to attract.

We're not even into the stuff like broken sidewalks, ripoff taxi drivers perched outside the front door, scams, and other stuff.

I love Thailand so don't tell me to piss off and go somewhere else. But there is a reality here. That reality is that Thailand is not on par with the people they think they compete against and try to raise their prices to be on equal footing with.

It's even happening on the foreign investment side. Talk to any regional business analyst and they'll tell you that Thailand is becoming less and less attractive to set up factories and other businesses. Not because of the cost of labor but because other countries are jumping through hoops to get that business while Thailand still expects foreign investors to do the hoop jumping. Vietnam is landing a lot of business at Thailand's expense right now. You can tell it's starting to hurt because I've read three different government statements recently talking about Vietnam not being any threat to Thailand in terms of snatching foreign investment because the Vietnamese don't have good quality and the people there aren't educated well enough. When the government feels the need to make a preemptive statement you know businesses in Thailand are giving them heat.

i am from europe and live her long time, if you are smart nobody can rip you off, and talk about stupid invester's scare others away. so who is killing a country'?

  6. because the safety here is amazingly high.

    Complete myth.

Thailand is the most dangerous tourism destination for Brits and Aussies by quite some margin according to the UK FCO.

i would never walk in the uk after dark, here i can so what uk are pussy in war and are afraid after dark.

how long you stayed here? 2 week? Buaa you not know this country

i am not thai but proud to live here

  7. you think Thailand is expensive think again even with the flood it is still 70% more cheap then Belgium

You get what you pay for in many cases. For example the beer in Belgium is exquisite, Thai beer is terrible in comparison.

Thais will still pay 6 to 12 times more for a German car than a Belgian would, even for one assembled in Thailand.

so means... economy is good, people have money, thai people like to show of, let them do it benefits the country

my friend bough a Lamborghini just to be extreme so he have money, all thai people have money, they just like to hide it.

  8. Thailand is not the 'cheap' holiday destination that it used to be, it's more of a rip off destination now.

    Agree 100%.

Thailand is now very expensive. Many people do not want an expensive holiday

Many people will not come to Thailand now because too expensive and too many rip offs

Absolutely, BUT let us not forget it is not only Thailands fault that the exchange rates are bad for Farangs or ppl from western destinations or Australia.

OUR, Thailands economy is still booming, Chinas too and many countries in Asia wont complain atm. Europe and the JewSA are History, thanks

to the Banksters there and the never ending Greed the foreign exchange rates compared to the Thaibaht is not the best anymore. No worries here,

I make my money in Thaibaht and a chinese customer is as good as a german one.

i agree thailand is still strong against the euro, i am still happy when i get money from europe , but... whas more happy 3 year ago 55555

i never go back this is the most nice country in the world

what you don't know Inbev ows 50% of Singa, so thats Belgium and thai beer is good, but i am sure you like Heineken

  10. I think the floods will be the least of their problems - as the world finds out about the appalling lack of customer service in Thailand, the degradation of the beaches and natural resources etc., more and more people will look elsewhere for a holiday destination. They will be replaced by less critical "low-end" budget package holidaymakers who don't know or care about service or the environment.

NB - Also when they find out that the "2 for 1" price they are paying is in fact exactly the same as the old price for 2 rooms they will also feel less inclined to come again.

you think Thailand is expensive think again even with the flood it is still 70% more cheap then Belgium

what is wrong with you people you like to go to a paradise but have no money, you just same thai.

You can have a ticket for 500 euro and have a room for 350 bath, so what you tell, if you want to stay Hilton you pay not complain

and the it will not affect the sea, as you know everything is going there, now just more fast.

talk like that will make people more poor here, you want to help them promote it, everything is ok here

if i see comments here i think why.... you still live here, if you not happy go please

go to uk or germany or australia or even usa it is so much better there

  13. my parents were going to visit us in thailand this xmas until i told them the

exchange rate, they are now going to malaysia and we are hoping to go visit them

there , .....i spend most of my time here in rayong, the average price of a beer

on entertainment street is 120B !!,...... for a small one , thats nearly £5 per

pint !!......... its becoming like the UK now , i buy from the supermarket and

drink at ึhome or on the beach , the average thai on 275B per day , they have a

    choice,.eat OR drink !!!

The exchange rate with the Rigitt vs £€$¥ has gone tits up as well so they're not any cheaper than Thailand, last time I was down there KL was the same price as BKK for most things you can still get ฿9 to RM1 down from ฿10.

฿120 for a beer, that's the sort of price a 5 star hotel charges from the mini bar, I'd find a differnt bar, I won't pay more than ฿75-฿90

i buy a beer for 48 66 cl for bath so what you complaining how much in your country

you go to Belgium to drink more cheap then in your aw so good UK

my gf she make 45,000 a month.

and a sing is still 70 bath here, but you don't get entertainment if you know what i mean

so we eat and drink, you just make a country look bad, what there is in the UK just poverty

  14. "Beer Crisis" must be a winner in the category "Idiocy" . THe poor Bangkok neighborhoods are drowning to keep the filthy rich shopping districts dry and the rich and alcoholics talk about a beer crisis. Now I understand the 100,000 baht donation. Some do have their priorities straight....

Yep. There are only filthy rich shopping districts in Bangkok. And only rich people drink beer.

good quote, i live in 1 off that rich shopping center to, ladprao 71 nak niwat, everybody make's his Porsche wet here 5555

The most beer go to the unemployed thai's be sure about that i did not see 1 falang in the big tesco lotus with beer in his cart but thai's ohooi.

Btw alcoholic stay in pattaya and the rich (read working falang) stay in bangkok.

And i see my so called poor neighbors with full cart's of food and boos, they asked me 2 day's ago i could borrow them 1000 bath.

Lesson : don't believe everything they tell you most of the time it's a facade, never borrow money to a thai most of them they have more then you :) just don't brag with your money you will get more respect.

  16. I live Lat prao area still plenty of Leo here, just send your local Mafia motorbike out he will get you everything you need at normal price if you give him a good tip.

I drink Blend 285 no shortage on that,

if you live here for more then 5 years and have Thai friends you can buy everything. You have to invest before the bad time's i learned that from the thai's.

Even the 7/11 20 meters from me they know what i like to buy and the keep a small stock for me,

Thai like to drink bottled water but like a previous post say the water vending machine are good i did not get sick of it in the 5 years i am drinking it, i just get mauw from the Blend 285 do ;)

This is a time to act like mafia to, just be inventive you will have all the food for your family you can eat.

  17. The Thai Government better start to pump huge amounts of money into Pattaya for a Sky Train, an underground system, designated areas for government departments, Commecial parks for new Office buildings, etc... etc... because Pattaya will be the capital city when Bangkok goes "waterworld"

Doing this will be far cheaper that trying to save a doomed city. I can see Pattaya becoming more like Rio in Brazil (But not quite as nice). B)

i have to leave this site now because to many moron here... Jesus or budha what can Leo do pattaya addicts just check with your doctor

  18. ... this is as watching a train wreck, in slow motion ... and billions of m3 of water still to pass ... we evacuated, then returned in the middle of last week.

... now believing only what we see and but half of what we hear, we are preparing to re-evacuate.

... our lives and businesses are suspended in a vacuum of freakish incompetence ... what could possibly sabotage the resources available in this modern age of technology and communication?

... this is all so ... absurd.

I am in the same situation: re-evacuate. The kind of information is freacky, unreliable and made by incompetents! When will we finally know the real situation? Is there anyone at FROC competent enough to tell the truth to the people? It is reaaly absurd...

you wherein the army before? take care your family like you did your buddy's don't wine just take care of the situation

I don't think he was whining. He was merely calling it how it is.

i am here, have a generator to make(safe) power for me and my friends i do

something baaa only think money because he loose now, i not like money i just need to be happy with my thai wive and 2 baby

Got a house full of affected family and renting more accommodation for others. How do you know I am a guest ?

Might be I have more right than you to be here.

Actions speak louder than words cheap rhetoric proves nothing.

then you are a lucky one at least you have property, what you can not say about most of people here. So stop wining, if you want to be a critic just apply for a job at channel three.

if you are a foreigner you always be a guest here don't tell story's to yourself and let the thai people do there own politics.

As i told wining will not get the water away, i rest my case.

    Too much lies, Im sorry.

I no need such of liar as PM.

Get lost (for her).I'm still paying my taxes, so I can say that : pls do NOT interfere while locals help each other. It is MUCH more efficient than all of your govt, froc-frac and so on. Just fly to DXB and stay away of this all for a while.

You ever been prime minister, there is a saying " the best captains stay on land" it is easy to be the critic, i would like to see how you do in this situation.

  22. Thai Embassies and Consulates abroad to be stricter with requirements when applicants are applying for Tourist visas for Thailand.

Does this apply to "Visa Exempt" entry also?

What happens if the tourists are staying with friends?

Or if you are married to a Thai citizen and will be staying at their/your residence.

Too me this sounds like another way to kill tourism.

yes tourism is at a high wright now 5555 some more stupid rules will make this country really a third world country, but still love it because my best friend is police Major 5555
