Foreign Tourist Punches Thai Driver During Heated Argument in Phuket

BS, clearly you have not been using this forum long and or don't read Thai news. Though lately, the Farang have been in the news a lot I must say. -

Thailand's Global Education Ranking Sparks Controversy and Scrutiny
craighj replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Absolutely 101% correct. 99% is utter BS, it would be lucky to be close to 75 - 80%. The majority of older people out on farms up country struggle with even the very basics. This is typical Thailand government offical talk, trying to cover his own ass! The education system here is extremely poor, but that's the way some of the fat cats like it. -
A winding piece of road??? More excuses to justify accidents! Looks like a gentle curve, when will Thailand do something about the poor drivers??? Likely never I guess.

I appreciate your replies and information, thank you. iβve had for around 10 years actually but never heard about the use of the TM 30 until a week or so ago π€£

Iβve never seen a certificate, I have hard covered little book with the certification and associated stamps, finger printers etc but yes that is it. Yes Iβve have had to get the permission to leave and no quota when planning to exit, I think TM 12 and TM 20. Also completed my Alien registration at the local police station and updated it, that was fun π£. At least the last time it was. But the TM30 has stumped me, Iβve been told no need but when I do go to the local immigration, not often once a year maybe, they ask my wife for the TM30. Though as they donβt deal with Farangβs with PR very often at all I guess maybe they just donβt know?
-
If you have PR, permanent residency. Does a TM30 need to be completed when yoy return to your registered place of residence?
-
Thanks Upnotover Yes PR is permanent residency and yes I've heard that the TM30 is not need, I actually heard a lawyer say it. However I'm wondering if that us actually true or not? Agreed, the TM30 process is not at all a good one!
-
Hello all While I should know the answer to this question, I do not! If you have you have full and proper Thai residency permit etc. Is there a need for the TM 30? Thanks

Thailand Bars Alcohol Sales on Trains and at Hua Lamphong

Any road in the whole of Thailand. Stupid people, if they were concerned about public safety they might actually try deal with REAL safety issues! -
Improving road safety, absolutely. Replacing 80% of the police and putting in new police that will do their jobs and enforce the rules yes absolutely, educating everyone about road safety from beginning school to university yes absolutely, have strickter penalties for break road rules and enforce them yes absolutely! However, this was a farang riding a quadbike, which looks unregistered, in the early morning and likely no helmet and possibly at speed and possibly after drinking. Unfortunately really nothing to do with my statements above. He should have known better and was aware of the dangerous of what he was doing. Can't blame Thailand for this one!

Thailand Ranked 106th in English Proficiency Out of 116 Countries
craighj replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What a stupid statement, clearly ill informed and ignorant of Thai people. Many speak multiple languages, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Loa, English, French etc. Do you speak Thai, fluently? It is just that many also do not speak English or speak only a little, the school systems here for ordinally people is very poor especially for English. All Kids get taught English almost none from the standard schools system actually can speak English! -
Thailand Ranked 106th in English Proficiency Out of 116 Countries
craighj replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The unfortunate facts of life are that education, the normal public schools, system here in Thailand is extremely poor. English in many, many cases is taught by non English speaks who can't actually hold a conversation in English themselves! It is better than it was 20 years ago, but not a lot better! -

Dear Mr Farang, run donβt walk, away from this women. Why would anyone want to be involved in anything like this relationship π³ -
Sad news and I'm sure everyone here would say sorry hear about the families loss! However, when will tourists coming to Asia ever learn? Riding a motor bike, no helment, no protection etc, etc, etc. Likely not a motor bike rider at home. Maybe tourists will never learn, they think being on holiday and in a different counry they are made of steel. RIP young man, another life wasted that very possibly could have been avoided.
