  1. JAL return 48000B

    JAL single 27000B

So not much more than half.

That's in June. If you mentioned your dates you would get more relevant answers.

How did you get that, was it on their website? When I try to book one-way on their website it only allows me to select Tokyo for some reason. And that's the price to Tokyo, around 26,000

  2. What would you prefer?

    1 A typical 45-50 kg Thai girl with "B"?

2 A typical 100 kg Russian or Scandinavian lady with "D" or "DD"?

    I'll take Thai, thank you.

That's a good point. I suspect that a large number of women with big breasts are in fact obese.

Since when is "100 kg" typical for Russian or Scandinavian ladies?? If you had said American, well, then it would make a bit of sense...

  3. Same on Khao San, I was there book shopping (nice turnover in the book shops there) and we went to book a minivan-ferry package to Koh Samet, Oh, no thai allowed (my wife). They asked her in Thai 'Is the ticket for you?' 'Yes' 'No, cannot, Thai cannot go'.

Thais are equal opportunity racists, probably suspect her bag wouldn't contain anything worth stealing when compared to Sven the iPod and tablet'd tourist out to discover himself in Buddhist heaven. rolleyes.gif

This one's easy - they just want to protect their fellow countrymen / women from being treated like cattle, abused and ripped of like farangs are on those buses from Khao San Road.

  4. I have a feeling most people posting on this thread are man as all assume this squatting is just for shitting! Women sometimes need to pee every hour or so guys... in case you haven't noticed.

And yes it's true that the squat position is better for shitting, but it is very, very bad for the knees, especially if you already have joint problems. If you can't eliminate properly, you can have the best of both worlds by using a sit-down toilet and placing your feet on a small chair when you poo. Problem solved!

  5. someone doesn't know squat about arthritis or osteoporosis. Arthritis is not from heavy usage of the joints, how many times a day can someone squat, unless of course they are having a meeting. This deterioration of the joints and bones is from eating too much protein. will it be good for tourists? absolutely. but to blame poor joints on squatting pans is nothing short of ridiculous.

How many times a day can someone squat? You're obviously not a woman...

  6. I used to have this same problem too, and found it really scary. Especially in the evening when I lay down in bed and relaxed, and boom! my heart felt like it skipped a beat and there goes my relaxation. Checkups didn't reveal any problems.

In my case it would happen for a few months, then go away. Then it would happen again at some point. And yes it did happen in periods of my life when I was very stressed.

  7. Peanut,

I just randomly searched ebay for this and the seller writes "May not ship to Thailand". If you succeed in gettting another package through that would be good news.

    Hey

Yeah it depends on the seller. Some ship worldwide and some don't. Unless it's something very unusual that you're looking for, you will probably find a seller who will ship to you.

  8. It is impossible, anywhere in the world, to start with medical courses immediately as one must have a foundational knowledge of biochemistry, anatomy and other sciences first.

No, really, Sheryl, that's not true. In some countries (mine for sure) there is an entrance examination (quite difficult) where they test biology, chemistry, physics etc. You are supposed to get this knowledge from high school (usually plus extra tutoring). But there is no pre med and any high school graduate, no matter the background, can apply, the only requirement is to pass the examination. Don't know what it's like in Thailand but might be similar.

  9. It used to be a 6 year program but my understanding is that the new system is 4 + 4.

possibly still being phased in some places?

I know for sure that undergrad bio majors in Mahidol are mainly planning on applying to med school. So that pathway is definitely there.

Internationally there are 2 main model I am familiar with. One is 4 + 4 = 8, the first 4 is a university undergrad course with a heavy science concentration ("pre med") but also including core liberal arts courses, the graduate gets an undergrad degree in Sciences prior to medical school. Typically the 1st 2 years are general required courses for the bacehlor's degre and the 2nd 2 years are courses in the major i.e. pre-med courses.

The other is 2 + 4 = 6, it is basically the same as the above minus the liberal arts and undergrad degree step. In other words, go straight to pre-med without first meeting general requirements of a bachelor's degree.

Both approaches deliver essentially the same medical education. They differ in the extent to which they also deliver a basic all-round college educ. The 4 + 4 arguably provides a more well-rounded education but has the disadvantage of taking longer/costing more.

Actually, in most countries, medical school is like any other undergraduate degree, but takes longer. No need to do any "pre-med" or anything like that. And I think it's only the US and Canada where medical school is after the undergraduate study.

  10. I usually buy "organic honey" for 350-400 tb. When buying you should see if it begins to crystallize.

A 100% honey should crystallize in cold temperatures.

Quite right, my own honey (from my own bees) does sometimes crystallise, in the fridge.

IME the sellers-of-fake-honey sometimes throw in a couple of dead-bees, or a scrap of honeycomb, to add authenticity to their suspiciously-cheap syrup with caramelised-colour product ! But you can taste the difference ! Caveat emptor !

Actually it's not right at all, the crystallization depends on the type of honey and conditions of storage, it doesn't show it's 100%.

  11. I did mine at ECC and it was brilliant - great tutors, lovely students and a nice group. I don't know where the poster above got the "reputation for producing vast numbers of fairly dodgy TEFL teachers" idea. Perhaps he could explain? Also I don't know about the "top notch" indisputable reputation of IH Bangkok. In fact, one of our CELTA trainers came from IH London especially to do the course at ECC.
