  1. Hi Siam 2007,

Thanks for all Your help and advice, one final question as I have not actually  left Thailand now for ten years !!, just not felt the need , however the Thai immigration issue,  is that due to visa status ? as I am married to a Thai, or purely the amount of people coming through ?

All other advice duly noted and I won't take the mini vans after Your further comments.

  2. Siam2007,

Thanks. I live in Rayong so I need to decide if I risk the Thai mini vans to the border and then go on from there, as  they scare the living bits out of Me,  or  dump the car at the border.

Incidentally how long does it take and is 2-3 days enough ? You mentioned not being a penny pincher, are You referring to all things in Cambodia, looking at 3 star hotels as they dont seem too expensive, however of they are awful I will go up a grade ??

  3. Sheryl, this is as much as any of Us know. There was a growth over 10 cm attached to the ovaries. Thai was removed and We were told there would so be a full hystarectomy. This did not happen and from what I can ascertain it was because the cancer had spread to other places ! Not sure which. They are now saying radiation therapy 25 times and then chemo. I am most grateful for Your time and input with this. Incidentally Her leg has now blown up like a balloon ..feeling helpless and My Wife is distraught at the thought of losing Her mother sometime soon.

  4. Hi Op,

I like You was unsure that 2.5 years old was it the right thing to do !! I am so glad I did, My daughter was My first ever child and at 40 it all seemed that it was so wrong as I started school at 5 back in the day. The areas where Our Daughter has gone on to excel,

Every year She went to a new class and new teacher took it in her stride, yes it was tough at 2.5 but just for a few weeks, then She loved it, the interaction with Kids Her own age, rather than Me !! Her Thai learning was fast and I am still seeing the benefits and She now attends a dual language School and She is finding the English easier IMHO as Shes already finding the Thai easy from doing it for so long.

  5. You can get a "secured" credit card from most any Thai bank...no work permit needed. A secured card is one that has a locked savings account as the card's collateral in case you skip country/don't pay the card balance.

Ex: get a secured credit card of say 100K baht line of credit with an associated locked savings account of 100K baht. You can not access the funds in the locked savings account until you pay in full the card balance and cancel the card.

Which banks offer this? I am interested....

    Siam commercial and Tannachart ..

  6. go to chatuchuk market, the roads around there have all the parts You need, if its the compressor only then 2000 baht or so should see You right with a second hand one..I have been fixing airs for years with parts as to new being close to second hand, not in My book, look at kai dee .com too..good luck

  7. I live in Rayong and have lived in Ban Chang also, I wish I had moved to Hua Hin !! better weather, better shops, better restaurants nice mix of people,

If You want to and travel to everything You need..then move to that house

The grass is always greener at the other side of the fence.

I have had 10 years here and with plenty of time to reflect that's My honest humble opinion ..unless of course You desire the other needs of Pattaya then stay in ban Chang ..Hua hin is cleaner nicer beaches...better weather ...
