  1. Hi Folks, keep on going with the comments

    - alaina: bagels can do, pizza is difficult, as the tastes vary too much. Some like typical Italian style, some the American (Pizza Hut etc). But if you let us know in due time, we'll try to get it lol

    - Gerd: real sausages not FROM Germany, but done by German Butchers and extensively tested (Leberkaese, Weisswurst, Bratwurst, Thuehringer etc)

    - naam: what is OP ? :D

    - JohnBkk: sure you get many things in Bkk, but see my comment below

    BTW sent you a PM

    FOR ALL:

I know you get many things in Bkk, Pattaya, Samui and Phuket. No doubt and each and everyone has his own "best" local supplier.

The idea is, as Dr Naam correctly pointed out, to deliver to all folks sitting upcountry and who have no means, interest, time to shop around in a 200 km radius for those things (like drive to KK to get sausages, then to Buriram to get the right bread and then onwards to Surin for their prefered Pickles or Mustard) !

    :o:D :D

however one thing is unsure yet, whether we will be able (legally) to deliver beer ! :D

and keep the posts rolling PLANNED START IS LATEST END JAN 2008

  2. we bought 10 cattle some years ago for 200,000 approx. Have been growing our own forage and feeding them for past 5 years approx. Mother in law recently went to sell two. Price offered two weeks ago was 20,000 for two. Price offered yesterday was 18,000 for two. That's a huge loss before you even allow for the time and effort spent feeding them. Fortunately they have produced a few calves in the past few years.

It seems 5 or so years ago lots of easrn farmers got into cattle (encouraged by Govt.) and now supply exceeds demand. However, the price of beef, at butchers, in the local market has gone up.

ANy ideas on what we should do much appreciated.

Our farm is in Chumphae, Khon Kaen.

We live in Ireland now and Mother in law takes care of things. Plan to retire there later.

    Joe

just keep the cattle, if you don't need to sell

typical "Pig Cycle" now everyone who bought before has to sell as money is needed and thus 5 years from now there is more demand than supply so prices will be up

besides you will have more cattle through more calves :D

the beef price in the local market is up, as Butchers and Traders drink more Lao Khao than before :o

  4. experience from the past. could have been luck or else

had WP and Visa still for about 5 months valid

    left employer amicably

1 month later he returned my work permit, but told me he will do nothing about visa

5 months later I made new non imm B leaving TH and no one even asked anything

so, there might not be a direct link between labour dept and immigration, or I just was stupidly lucky :o

  9. :o My husband & I currently live in Ao Nang and have decided to have our baby in Thailand, due around 24th October. We have looked at the Phuket International Hospital and plan to have the baby there. We haven't visited the Phuket Bangkok Hospital yet but on my insistence, will do so on our next visit to Phuket in one months time.

Any tips on both hospitals would be greatly appreciated. I'm fairly anxious about the birth to say the least and would like things to go smoothly if possible.

Secondly we would need to rent somewhere fairly close to the hospital as we need to go two weeks before the due day, and will possibly have to wait two weeks after the due date, depending on when he wants out!

Any suggestions on accomodation would be great, we have stayed at the Imperial hotel in Phuket Town on previous trips, but would prefer something less expensive for such a length of time.

    Many thanks

    Mandy

My wife got transfered a few years back from Patong hospital (Gvmnt) to Bkk-Phuket to give birth.

1st class service, first class doctors !

she is due again in Dec and complications might arrise, so are going straight to Bkk-Pkt

Besides all "complications" she gave normal natural birth, so no over eager doctors there

good luck for You and the Baby :D

  10. I never had any problem contacting the guy. His name is Doc. I bought mine from him a couple weeks ago and am VERY happy with it. He even emailed me twice to make sure everything worked as it should. I bought the small stainless steel unit mainly because it has a double wall cover and I also use it for an oven. I ordered an optional thermometer that goes through the cover. Here is his email address;

    [email protected]

sent e-mail 2 times in last 2 days and unanswered

I am mor interested in theses fold up beds

    :o

  11. since you have no experience, you definitely have to rely on others

did you visit some other farms around ?

did you talk with people there, where they get the feed from ?

did you make your own "market research" ? not only where to buy feed, but after where to sell your product

all these questions will put you in contact with people there and one will lead to the other and you might stumble upon a CP sales rep

    :o

  12. Strange as I know multiple people (5+) that have had many months overstay and none went to IDC, they all paid 20k at the airport and left, most coming back the same day or after a short visa run.

One guy I know had 970 something days overstay !!! Paid his 20k.. Left the country and returned on the same passport.

I certainly wouldnt recommend it.. But I dispute your 40 day and visit the IDC system comment.

same here, I had a buddy from Germany and we just got him to the airport with a ticket and 20000, he paid his 20000 Baht for four years of overstay and no problems returning for him.

The problem I am looking at is this new guy not having a Valid Canadian Passport anymore. Not sure how he lost it, but I know there was no police report...so my question is...

The Canadian Embassy requiring a police report to replace a lost or stolen passport, how can he get one, when he is on overstay? They will probably want to arrest him as soon as he shows at the police station? Or maybe not, since they are not immigration? Any success stories or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Private message o.k., too ;-)

he should contact the embassy and ask what is needed to get a new passport.

they will tell him anyway to get a police report.

get that report then. It is pure formality ! Just tell them that you needed the passport yesterday and cannot find it. Possibly lost !!

with this report go to embassy and get a new passport

when holding the new passport, the embassy staff tells you what to do next

Did it in the past and worked fine !!

    Concerning overstay:

    1. it is difficult to say and definitely no certain rules

    2. I have friends who overstayed years and no passport. the did above and went to the next airport and all worked out fine

    3. I also have friends where it didn't work out fine (especially in Bkk)

    4. Maybe get to a smaller Checkpoint crossing by road, but be aware they have computers as well, so you cannot skip the 20k, but normally less questions asked as personnel is less stressed and still have a smile on their faces :o

    5. also it might help if you or someone you know knows a guy at Immigration

    6. and make sure next time he doesn't overstay !! there is no legal reason to overstay that long and no legal reason to get a proper visa :D

  13. There's a farang in Udon Thani who is making barbecue grills and soon will be offering hide a beds. I bought a stainless steel grill from him recently and I love it. Google Quick-Fire gas barbecues Udon Thani and the site will come up. The hide a beds are spring counter balanced and fold up against the wall. They require only 15 inches of floor space plus the width of the bed. King, queen or single.

might be interested in these beds

their contact page doesn't work on the website

    got a phone no ? :o

  14. buy thai beef from local markets in the morning

    Baht 140/ kg

bleed it out and "age" it for about 5 days in the fridge

when it starts to get "greenish" on the outside it is well

and then any Thai beef is as tender as we Farangs used to get abroad :o
